다공질 실리콘 구조를 이용한 화학 및 바이오 센서 (Porous silicon-based chemical and biosensors)

  • In this study, two types of PS substrate were fabricated for sensing of chemical and biological substances. For sensing of the humidity and chemical analyzes such as $CH_3OH$ or $C_2H_5OH$, PS layers are prepared by photoelectrochemical etching of silicon wafer in aqueous hydrofluoric acid solution. To evaluate their sensitivity, we measured the resistance variation of the PS diaphragm. As the amplitude of applied voltage increases from 2 to 6Vpp at constant frequency of 5kHz, the resistance variation for humidity sensor rises from 376.3 to $784.8{\Omega}$/%RH. And the sensitivities for $CH_3OH$ and $C_2H_5OH$ were 0.068 uA/% and 0.212 uA/%, respectively. For biological sensing application, amperometric urea sensors were fabricated based on porous silicon(PS), and planar silicon(PLS) electrode substrates by the electrochemical methods. Pt thin film was sputtered on these substrates which were previously formed by electrochemical anodization. Poly (3-methylthiophene) (P3MT) were used for electron transfer matrix between urease(Urs) and the electrode phase, and Urs also was by electrochemically immobilized. Effective working area of these electrodes was determined for the first time by using $Fe(CN)_6^{3-}/Fe(CN)_6^{4-}$ redox couple in which nearly reversible cyclic voltammograms were obtained. The $i_p$ vs $v^{1/2}$ plots show that effective working electrode area of the PS-based Pt thin film electrode was 1.6 times larger than the PLS-based one and we can readily expect the enlarged surface area of PS electrode would result in increased sensitivity by ca. 1.6 times. Actually, amperometric sensitivity of the Urs/P3MT/Pt/PS electrode was ca 0.91uA/$mM{\cdot}cm^2$, and that of the Urs/P3MT/Pt/PLS electrode was ca. 0.91uA/$mM{\cdot}cm^2$ in a linear range of 1mmol/L to 100mmol/L urea concentrations

  • 최근까지 대부분의 PEMFC MEA(Membrnae and Electrode Assembly) 열화 연구는 전극과 전해질 막 각각 분리되어 연구되었다. 그런데 실제 PEMFC 운전조건에서는 전극과 전해질 막은 동시에 열화된다. 동시열화과정에서 전극열화와 전해질 막 열화는 상호 작용한다. 전해질 막의 열화정도를 측정하는데 수소투과도가 많이 사용되고 있다. 그런데 동시 열화가 발생했을 때 선형 쓸음 전기량 측정법(Linear Sweep Voltammetry, LSV)에 의해 수소투과도를 측정하면 전극열화가 수소투과전류를 감소시키는데, LSV 방법이 전극 촉매의 활성 면적에 의존하기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 전극과 막 동시 열화과정에서 기체 크로마토그래프에 의한 PEMFC 전해질막의 수소투과도를 측정하였다. 기체 크로마토그래프 측정 방법은 전극 상태와 무관하기 때문에 전극과 막 동시 열화 과정에서 수소투과도가 전극 열화 영향을 받지 않음을 확인하였다.

  • In This paper, to understand statistical properties of breakdown voltage, the experiment is performed on four gaps of different electrode area, ranging from $17.44[cm^2]$ to $1809.5[cm^2]$, in $SF_6$ gas. Statictcial property of breakdown is confirmed Weibull distribution and as area of electrode is increased, breakdown voltage is decreased and converged constant value $E_0$.

경락노선상 직류 전위 측정에서의 문제점 (The Problems in the Measurement of DC Potential on Meridian Skin Area)

  • Background and purpose: The measurement of direct current (DC) potential on skin area of meridian has recently been adopted to explore the electrophysiological characteristics of meridian system, But there exists two problems to be explained; the entity of the DC potential to be measured and the characteristics of electrode gel interface of measurement system, It is not clear whether the DC potential reflect, at least hypothetically, the entity of meridian, and if there exist any unstable factor in the DC potential measurement system. Methods: In this study, we designed an electronic circuit model of skin and applied known DC potential sources $({\pm}10.75mV,\;0mV)$ to the electrode interface of the skin model. Results: The result showed that the measured DC potential changed according to the time, and the same phenomenon was observed when the electrode gel was replaced with an electric condenser. It is suggested that the measurement of DC potential on electrode gel interface is very difficult and produces unstable values due to the capacity effect of electrode gel. Conclusion: Further studies on the DC potential evaluation in the context of meridian study should consider and bypass this problem.

  • Research on neural circuit is a difficult area due to complexity and inaccessibility. Due to recent developments, the research using multi-electrode array of cells or tissues has become an important research area. However, there are some difficulties to decode the submerged meaning from huge and complex neural data. Moreover, it needs a harmonic collaboration between informatics and bioscience. In this paper, we have developed a custom-designed signal processing technique for multi-electrode array measured neural responses induced by electrical stimuli to the hippocampal tissue slices of the rat brain. The raw data from hippocampal slice using the multi-electrode array system were saved in a computer. Then we estimated characteristic points in each channel and calculated the total activity. To estimate the points, we used the Polynomial Fitting Approximation Method. Using the calculated total activity, we could provide the histogram or pseudo-image matrix to help interpretation of results.

CFD 모사 기법을 이용한 전해반응기 내부 흐름 특성 분석 (Flow Characteristics Analyses within the Electrolysis Reactor using the CFD Simulation Technique)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate design factors of the electrolysis reactor through the CFD(computational fluid dynamics) simulation technique. Analyses of velocity vector, streamline, chloride ion concentration distribution showed differences in flow characteristics between the plate type electrode and the porous plate type electrode. In case of the porous plate type electrode, chlorine gas bubbles generated from the anode made upward density flow with relatively constant velocity vectors. Electrolysis effect was more expected with the porous plate type electrode from the distribution of chloride ion concentration. The upper part of the electrolysis reactor with the porous plate type electrode had comparatively low chloride concentration because chloride was converted to the chlorine gas formation. Decreasing the size and increasing total area of rectifying holes in the upper part of cathodes, and widening the area of the rectifying holes in the lower part of cathodes could improve the circulation flow and the efficiency of electrolysis reactor.

염료감응형 태양전지의 상대전극 재료로서 탄소나노튜브의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Properties of Carbon Nano-tube as the Counter Electrode of Dye-sensitized solar cell)

  • Studies on porous oxide electrode, dye and electrolyte for dye-sensitized solar cells have been intensively carried out until now. However, counter electrode have not been much studied so far. Accordingly, it is needed to investigate new counter electrode materials with superior catalyst property and to substitute for Pt electrode. In this case, carbon nano-tubes (CNTs) are one of alternatives for counter electrodes as following merits: low resistivity, excellent electron emission property, large surface area and low cost due to development of mass production technique. Such advantages gave us to select multiwalled CNTs (MWCNT) as counter electrode for dye-sensitized solar cell. Also, cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy were used to investigate electrochemical properties of both CNT electrode and Pt electrode. It was found that sheet resistance of CNT electrode was similar to that of Pt electrode, also, electrochemical properties of CNT electrode was superior to that of Pt electrode on the basis on the measurement of CV and impedance spectrum. It was found that CNT is likely to be a very promising electrode material for dye solar cells.

선대 선 전극방식의 대기압 아크억제 대책 및 Metaloxide 제거에 관한 연구 (The Study on Arc Suppression of Line-to-Line Electrodes in Air and Removal of the Metaloxide)

  • Recently the pulsed power systems have been widely used in many fields such as E/P(Electrostatic Precipitator), DeNOx/DeSOx power systems, ozone generators and power sources of the laser beam. In this paper, we studied various electrical characteristics for arc suppression of line-to-line electrodes in air and removal of the metaloxide using our pulsed power system. To obtain high efficiency of the pulsed power system, we repeatedly experimented and tested their characteristics. by adjusting electrode length of the load. As a result, when the value of the electrode length and pulse repetition rate were changed at the load, the value of the arc voltage changed at the electrode load. In conclusion, we controlled arc voltage of the load by ,changing electrode length and pulse repetition rate. Also. we stydied removal area of the metaloxide using area discharge according to pulse repetition rate.

  • The primary role of ZnO arresters is to protect transmission and distribution equipments against lightning surges. The extremely nonlinear V-I characteristics of the ZnO arrester obviates the need for isolation gaps and consequently it is continuously connected to line voltage. For this reason, ZnO arresters are degraded with time in actual power systems. In this work, the characteristics of the luminous events caused between the ZnO block and electrodes according to the electrode area were investigated. As a result, the luminous events were effected by electrode area and the longer electrode areas were increased, the more luminous events were decreased. Also the reduction of luminous events was fumed up to the degraded ZnO arrester block.

  • In the present study we investigated effects by changing binder contents m the carbon counter electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells. Binder contents changed for 6 wt%, 7 wt%, 8 wt% before making carbon electrode. In the result of the measurement the specific resistance for 6 wt% was lowest among others And the surface of the carbon electrode which was measured by SEM was best m the 6 wt"%. The electrode properties be showing in an experiment were due to increment of surface roughness that appeared the carbon electrode, which decreased internal surface area.
