The effect of photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) degradation for different dyes with the CNT/$TiO_2$ electrode was studied. The prepared electrode was characterized with surface properties, structural crystallinity, elemental identification, and PEC activity. The $N_2$ adsorption data showed that the composites had decreased surface area compared with the pristine CNT. This indicated the blocking of micropores on the surface of CNT, which was further supported by observation via FESEM. XRD patterns of the composites showed that the CNT/$TiO_2$ composite contained a mixing anatase and rutile phase. EDX spectra showed the presence of C, O and Ti peaks for all samples. The decomposition efifciency of the prepared electrode was evaluated by the PEC degradation of three dyes (methylene blue (MB), rhodamine B (RH.B), methyl orange (MO)). The variations of the FT-IR spectra and pH value of dye solutions were measured during the PEC system; it was found that the CNT/$TiO_2$ electrode has better PEC degradation for MB solution than that of RH.B and MO. The proposed degradation mechanism was present.

Contact electrodes pose threats like inflammation, metal poisoning, and allergic reaction to the user during long term ECG procedure. Therefore, we present a novel noncontact electrocardiographic electrode designed through microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) process. The proposed ECG electrode consists of small inner and large outer circular copper plates separated by thin insulator. The inner plate enables capacitive transduction of bio-potential variations on a subject’s chest into a voltage that can be processed by a signal processing board, whereas the outer plate shields the inner plate from environmental electromagnetic noise. The electrode lead wires are also coaxially designed to prevent cables from coupling to ground or electronic devices. A prototype ECG electrode has an area of about 2.324 cm2, is very flexible and does not require power to operate. The prototype ECG electrode could measure ECG at about 500 um distance from the subject’s chest.
A Pt nanoparticle-decorated multiwall carbon nanotube (Pt-MWNT) electrode was prepared on Nafion by a hot-pressing at relatively low temperature. This electrode exhibited an intricate entangled, nanoporous structure as a result of gathering highly anisotropic Pt-MWNTs. Individual Pt nanoparticles were confirmed to have a polycrystalline face-centered cubic structure with an average crystal size of around 3.5 nm. From the cyclic voltammograms for hydrogen redox reactions, the Pt-MWNT electrode was found to have a similar electrochemical behavior to polycrystalline Pt, and a specific electrochemical surface area of $2170cm^2mg^{-1}$. Upon exposure to hydrogen analyte, the Pt-MWNT/Nafion electrode demon-strated a very high sensitivity of $3.60{\mu}A\;ppm^{-1}$ and an excellent linear response over the concentration range of 100-1000 ppm. Moreover, this electrode was also evaluated in terms of response and recovery times, reproducibility, and long-term stability. Obtained results revealed good sensing performance in hydrogen detection.
The lifetime of the electrode is one of the most important factors on the stability of the electrode. Since the lifetime of the DSA (Dimensionally stable anode) electrode is long, an accelerated lifetime test is required to reduce the test time. Beacuse there is no basis or standard method for accelerated lifetime testing, many researchers use different methods. Therefore, there is a need for basis and methods for accelerated lifetime testing that other researchers can follow. We designed a reactor system for accelerated lifetime testing and planned specific methods. Reactor system was circulating batch reactor. Reactor volume and cooling water tank were 12.5 L and 100 L, respectively. Electrode size was $2cm{\times}3cm$ (real electrolysis area, $5cm^2$). In order to maintain the harsh conditions, accelerated lifetime test was carried out in a high current density ($0.6A/cm^2$) and low electrolyte concentration (NaCl, 0.068 mol/L). Maintaining a constant temperature was an important operation parameter for exact accelerated lifetime test. As the accelerated lifetime test progressed, the active component of electrode surface was consumed and desorption occurred. At the point of 5 V rise, corrosion of the surface of the base material(titanium) also started.
In order to increase the energy conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), we employed a counter electrode that was platinum coated using a doctor blade technique on synthesized ZnO nanostructures on fluorinedoped tin oxide (FTO). The ZnO nanostructures possessing high electrochemical activity and large surface area of the counter electrode were grown by a chemical bath deposition (CBD) method at various times, 2, 4, and 8 h. The efficiency of DSSC with the Pt-ZnO counter electrode was improved 7.01% (grown for 2 h), 7.63% (grown for 4 h), and 6.13% (grown for 8 h), respectively. Compared with a standard DSSC without ZnO nanostructures, whose efficiency was 6.27%, the energy conversion efficiency increased approximately 22% for the DSSC with the Pt-ZnO (grown for 4 h) electrode. It indicates that the Pt coated on the ZnO nanostructure improves the electrocatalytic activity of the counter electrode.

Increasing demand for portable and wireless electronic devices with high power and energy densities has inspired global research to investigate, in lieu of scarce rare-earth and expensive ruthenium oxide-like materials, abundant, cheap, easily producible, and chemically stable electrode materials. Several potential electrode materials, including carbon-based materials, metal oxides, metal chalcogenides, layered metal double hydroxides, metal nitrides, metal phosphides, and metal chlorides with above requirements, have been effectively and efficiently applied in electrochemical supercapacitor energy storage devices. The synthesis of self-grown, or in-situ, nanostructured electrode materials using chemical processes is well-known, wherein the base material itself produces the required phase of the product with a unique morphology, high surface area, and moderate electrical conductivity. This comprehensive review provides in-depth information on the use of self-grown electrode materials of different morphologies in electrochemical supercapacitor applications. The present limitations and future prospects, from an industrial application perspectives, of self-grown electrode materials in enhancing energy storage capacity are briefly elaborated.

Composite material of the graphene ball (GB) inserted graphene oxide (GO) sheet for a supercapacitor electrode was studied. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process used to make GBs on the silicon oxide nanoparticles. The GBs mixed into the GO sheets to make GOGB and reduced it to create a reduced GOGB(RGOGB) composite. The RGOGB composite electrode had a large surface area and improved electrochemical properties. Specific capacitance of the RGBGO composite electrode was higher over 20 times than a pure GO and GOGB electrode in cyclic voltammetry(CV) tests, and the Z' and Z" impedance measured by an electrochemical impedance spectrometry(EIS) also low. So, the RGBGO composite electrode would use effectively to expand a performance of supercapacitor.

For measurement of dielectric constants, the commercial parallel plate electrodes system with guard-ring electrode have been widely used up to now. The capacitance derived from the parallel plate electrodes capacitor with guard-ring electrode is calculated by the equation of ($C={\epsilon}\;{\cdot}\;\frac{area\;of\;electrod}{distance\;between\;electrodes}$). Therefore, in parallel plate electrode capacitor, the diameter of the guarded electrode, the gap size between guarded electrode and guard ring, and distance between two active electrode should be measured precisely to calculate dielectric constants from the measured capacitance. Consequently their mechanical measurement uncertainties are directly contributed. Especially the air-gap between the electrodes and dielectric specimen at the system must be existed and the measurement error derived from the air-gap is impossible to evaluate as measurement uncertainties. In this study, we analyze the uncertainty of the commercial dielectric constant test cell using 3 kinds CRMs.

Purpose : This study was to identify the effect of cognitive reaction following inactive electrode placement when applying anodal transcranial direct current stimulation over the primary motor cortex. Methods : For this study a total of 28 stroke patients participated. Before applying transcranial direct current stimulation, cognitive reaction was measured (P300 of event related potential, cognitive reaction time), and subjects were randomly assigned to two group. Transcranial direct current stimulation was applied to the scalp with an intensity of $0.04mA/cm^2$ for 15 minutes. All subjects were given an anode transcranial direct current stimulation over the primary motor area and inactive electrodes over the deltoid muscle (group I) and supra-orbital area (group II). Cognitive reactions were measured after applying transcranial direct current stimulation. Results : For this study a total of 28 stroke patients participated. Composite electrode consisting of carbon nanofiber (CNF) and cobalt oxide was prepared for supercapacitor electrode, and its electrochemical property was investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry. Cyclic voltammetric results for the composite electrode showed it had specific capacitance value of 420 F/g at 5 mV/s, which was higher than capacitance value of 180 F/g for the bare CNF. It is concluded that the capacitive property of CNF can be improved by coating cobalt oxide on it to increase the surface area of cobalt oxide.
