Silicon-Organic Hybrid Solar Cell Using Ag Nanowire/PEDOT:PSS Layer (은 나노와이어/PEDOT:PSS를 이용한 실리콘-유기물 하이브리드 태양전지)

  • Among various organic materials suitable for silicon-based inorganic-organic hybrid solar cells, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) has been extensively studied due to its high optical transmittance, high work function, and low bandgap characteristics. The electro-optical properties of PEDOT:PSS have a significant impact on the power conversion efficiency of silicon-organic hybrid solar cells. To enhance the photovoltaic properties of the silicon-organic hybrid solar cells, we developed a method to improve the properties of the PEDOT:PSS film using Ag nanowires (NW) instead of conventional solvent addition methods. The influence of the Ag NW on the electro-optical property of the PEDOT:PSS film and the photovoltaic performance of the silicon-organic hybrid solar cells were investigated. The addition of Ag NW further improved the sheet resistance of the PEDOT:PSS film, enhancing the performance of the silicon-organic hybrid solar cells. The present work using the low sheet resistance PEDOT:PSS layer paves the way to develop simple yet more efficient silicon-organic hybrid solar cells.

  • A phenomenon of electroluminescent radiate as electric field applied in the phosphor, in this paper, we produced the Powder Electroluminescent Device(PELD) which was changing the structure and the thickness of phosphor and insulator for realization of the PELD with high brightness. We made PELD with structure that is WK-1(ITO film/Phosphor/Insulator/Electrode), WK-2(ITO film/Phosphor/Insulator/Electro de), WK-3(ITO film/Phosphor/Insulator/Electrode), WK-4(ITO film/Phosphor+Insulator/ Electrode). The property of the produced PELD are analyzed by measuring the spectrum which electrical and optical property, the brightness and the transferred charge density. In this result, the structure of WK-4 have good luminescence property than others, it's effective thickness is 60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. At 100V 400Hz, High brightness of 2700cd/m2 was performed.

  • In this study, we describe the properties of an electro-optical modulator with CPW(coplanar waveguide) electrode fabricated on $LiNvO_3$ optical waveguide, that is applicable to optical communications. These optical modulators have features that use a buffer layer to reduce velocity mismatch between microwaves and optical wave as well as employ CPW to improve impedance and propagation mode mismatch between the electrode and the external circuits. And an annealed proton exchange technique for obtaining low-loss optical waveguides and good reproducibility was employed. Taking into consideration the mentioned background, to achieve the lower driving voltage of optical modulator, we have re-disigned the longer interaction length. And their device properties are discussed also. As a result, fabricated optical modulators of good 10Gps operation and low voltage(5.6V of the halfwave lengfth voltage) at an $1.5{\mu}m$ wavelength are achived with good reproducibility.

A Study on Adhesion and Electro-optical Properties of ITO Films deposited on Flexible PET Substrates with $SiO_2$ Buffer Layer (PET 기판 위해 $SiO_2$ 버퍼층 도입에 따른 IT 박막의 접착 및 전기적.광학적 특성 연구)

  • Using an evaporation method, $SiO_2$ was deposited as a buffer layer between a flexible PET substrate and a ITO film deposited by DC magnetron sputtering and electro-optical properties were investigated with thickness variance of $SiO_2$ layers. After coating a $SiO_2$ layer and a ITO film, the ITO/$SiO_2$/PET was heated up to $200^{\circ}C$ and the resistivity and the transmittance were measured by hall effect measurement system and UV/VIS/NIR spectroscopy. As a result of depositing a $SiO_2$ buffer layer, the resistivity increased and the transmittance and adhesion property were enhanced than ITO films with no buffer layers and the resistivity was lowered as $SiO_2$ thickness increased from 50 $\AA$ to 100 $\AA$. It was found that the transmittance was independent of annealing temperature variance in $150^{\circ}C{\sim}200^{\circ}C$ and the resistivity decreased as the temperature increased and especially decreasing rate of the resistivity was higher as the buffer layer thickness was thinner. So under optimized depositing of $SiO_2$ buffer layers and post-annealing of ITO/$SiO_2$/PET, ITO films with enhanced adhesion, electro-optical properties can obtained.

Liquid Crystal Alignment Effect and Electro-Optical Characteristics of TN-LCD on a-C:H Thin Films (a-C:H 박막을 이용한 액정 배향 효과 및 TN-LCD 의 전기광학 특성)

  • LC aligning capabilities and the variation of pretilt angles with ion beam irradiation on the a-C:H thin films, and electro-optical (EO) performances of the ion beam aligned twisted nematic (TN)-liquid crystal display (LCD) with oblique ion beam exposure on the a-C:H thin film were studied. A high pretilt angle of $3.5{^{\circ}}$ via ion beam irradiation on the a-C:H thin film was measured. Also, the LC pretilt angle decreased due to the increase in surface roughness at over 2 min of IB exposure time. It is considered that this roughness increase due to increasing IB exposure time that generated destroy of oriented rings of atoms related to LC alignment. An excellent voltage-transmittance (V-T) curve of the ion beam aligned TN-LCD was observed with oblique ion beam exposure on the a-C:H thin film for 1 min. Also, a faster response time for the ion beam aligned TN-LCD with oblique ion beam exposure on the a-C:H thin film for 1 min can be achieved. Finally, the residual DC property of the ion beam aligned TN-LCD with ion beam exposure of 1 min on the a-C:H thin film is almost same as that of the rubbing aligned TN-LCD on a PI surface.

Electro-Optical Characteristics of TN Cell using UV Alignment Method on the a-C:H Thin Film (a-C:H 박막표면에 UV 배향법을 이용한 TN 셀의 전기광학특성)

  • We investigated the EO performances of the UV aligned twisted nematic liquid crystal display (TN-LCD) with the UV exposure on a-C:H thin film surface. LC alignment using UV exposure on the a-C:H thin film surface was achieved. Monodomain alignment of the UV aligned TN-LCD can be observed. An good EO characteristics of the UV aligned TN-LCD was observed with oblique ion beam exposure on the a-C:H thin film surface. Therefore, the EO property of the UV-aligned TN-LCD with UV exposure on the a-C:H thin film surface is almost the same as that of the rubbing-aligned TN-LCD on a polyimide (PI) surface.

Correction of Radiometric Distortion Caused by Geometric Property in SAR image using SAR Simulation (SAR영상의 모의제작에 의한 기하학적 복사왜곡의 보정)

  • SAR data can be achieved independently of weather conditions or sun illumination which is main limitation of electro-optical sensor to get image. The information from imagery can be more enlarged using Shh data be-cause SAR data offers different information from electro-optical sensor. SAR data contains various distortions caused by the radar specification and geometric properties of data acquisition. These distortions should be removed to get the information with acceptable accuracy. In this study, we aimed to correct the radiometric distortion in Shh image caused by the geometric property of the object. For this purpose, we simulated the SAR image by modelling of the power of return beam which is variable according to the geometric configuration between SAR antenna and ground object. Dividing the SAR image by the simulation image, then, we can get the radiometrically corrected image. As a result of this study, we could minimize the effect of radiometric distortion in achieving some qualitative information from SAR image for the related field, such as Geospatial Information System.

SIMS Investigation of Black Cr Solar Selective Coatings (Black Cr 태양 선택흡수막의 SIMS 연구)

  • The elemental composition of electro-deposited black Cr solar selective coatings before and after heating in air by using secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) was investigated for optical property analysis. In addition, black Cr selective coating exposed by solar radiation for 5 months was compared with heated sample. SIMS investigation shows that $OH^+$ bearing ions were related to a near surface region of CrOH and CrO compound. The optical degradation of this coating after heating at $500^{\circ}C$ reveals that diffusion of the Cu and Ni elements in substrate material, the chemical interactions adjacent to the interface, and the interface width broadening.

Self-Crosslinkable Side-Chain Copolymer for Nonlinear Optical Application

  • 2-Tetrahydropyranyl methacrylate with a self-crosslinkable moiety was copolymerized with methyl methacrylate and 4-[(2-methacryloxyethyl)methylamino]-4'-nitrostilbene or 4-[(2-methacryloxyethyl)ethylamino]-4'nitroazobenzene to provide second-order nonlinear optical property. Glass transition temperatures (Tg of the copolymers are around 140 ℃. The copolymers were soluble in common organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), cyclohexanone, and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). Poling was carried out at 140 ℃ for 20 min and identified with UV-Vis spectroscopy. Electro-optic coefficient (r33) of copolymer was 62 pm/V for polymer 2 at 633 nm, and relaxation did not remarkably occur due to the formation of a crosslinked network at 200 ℃ for 15 min.

Electro-optical characteristic analysis of liquid crystal cell using UV-treated self assembled monolayer (UV 처리된 자기 조립 단분자막을 사용한 액정 셀의 전기광학특성 분석)

  • In this paper, we demonstrated the orientation characteristics of liquid crystals using UV-treated FSAM as alignment layer. Moreover we confirmed the FSAM properties before and after UV treatment on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrates using physicochemical analysis. The hydrophobic property of the FSAM surface is change to hydrophilic through UV treatment. After UV treatment the LC molecules also were uniformly and horizontally aligned on the FSAM surfaces and the pretilt angle was obviously changed 90° degrees to 0° degrees. EO characteristic of TN cell which was fabricated with UV-treated FSAM was faster response time compare to conventional PI layer. The FSAM before and after UV treatment has a superior application potential as the LC alignment layer for LCD, potentially replacing the conventional polyimide layer.
