  • As the interests in eco-friendly energy has increased, the interests in Electric Vehicles(EVs) are increasing as well. Moreover, due to the government's economic support for EVs, penetration level of it has rapidly increased. These sharp increases, however, induce various problems in distribution system, such as voltage/frequency variations, peak demand increasement, demand control, etc. To minimize these possible matters, lots of research have conducted. Nevertheless, most of it assumed extremely important factors, such as numbers and charging patterns of EVs. It inevitably results in errors in their research, and thus make it difficult to prevent the possible matters from EVs. In this paper, therefore, we use actual EVs charging data from KEPCO, and analysis and deduction of it were conducted. The simulations were carried out for four aspect(season, region, purpose).

Development of Boost Type Bidirectional DC/DC Converter with High Efficiency For EV using an Interleave Method (인터리브 방식을 이용한 전기자동차용 고효율 승압형 양방향 DC/DC 컨버터 개발)

  • This paper proposes the boost type bidirectional DC/DC converter with high efficiency for electric vehicle using an interleave method. This interleave method can reduce the system size because it reduces the ripple of output voltage and input current with no add to extra filter. Proposed system is consist of two converters and applies to interleaved method through phase shift to each converter. And it implements the high boost through voltage double and series construction of output port. Also, it reduces the price and increases the efficiency as operating the ZCS by leakage inductance of transformer and capacitor of voltage double with not add special reactor. Proposed DC/DC converter using interleave method is proved the validity through the result of PSIM simulation and experiment of 5kW DC/DC converter.

Decentralized $H_{\infty}$ Control of Multiple Magnetic Levitation System (다중 자기부상 시스템의 분산형 $H_{\infty}$ 제어)

  • In this paper, an application of a decentralized $H_{\infty}$ controller(DHC) to multiple controlled-permanent magnet(CMAG) magnetic levitation(Maglev) systems is presented. The designed DHC using two Riccati equations iteratively has simpler structure and needs less computational loads than conventional centralized $H_{\infty}$ controller. A target plant is a hybrid-type CMAG system with permanent magnet and coil, and its mathematical model is firstly derived to design the DHC. To implement the designed algorithm, a real Maglev vehicle system including digital controller, chopper, sensor, etc., is manufactured. To compare the performances of the DHC method with an observer-based state feedback control(OSFC), the input tracking and disturbance rejection characteristics are experimentally tested. As performance indices(PI), integral of squared error(ISE), integral of absolute error(IAE), integral of time multiplied by absolute error(ITAE) and integral of time multiplied by squared error(ITSE) are used. From the experimental results, it can be seen that the input tracking and disturbance rejection performances of the DHC are better than those of the conventional controller.

  • The magnetically levitated system technology is highly expected to contribute the new transportation system of the 21st century with its high velocity operation, better riding comforts, friendliness to environment and saving of maintenance labour. Its development has been completed in low speed and in high speed application. In 2005, the Transrapid with 430 km/h speed will go into operation between Berlin and Hamburg[1]. In the year 2000, the realization of JR-Maglev will be basically evaluated for commercial operation[2]. In korea, maglev test vehicle with magnet for levitation and single sided linear induction motor for propulsion is under test at 1 [km] test track in KIMM.[3,4] Here, a transverse flux linear motor in combination with the levitation and the guidance leads to a considerable high power density and high efficiency simultaneously. The designed and measured performance of transverse flux linear motor for maglev system revealed a great potential of system mass reduction.

$NO_x$ Sensing Characteristic of $TiO_2$ Thin Film Deposited by R.F Magnetron Sputtering (R.F 마그네트론 스퍼트링으로 작성된 $TiO_2$박막의 $NO_x$ 감지 특성)

  • In these days, diesel vehicle or power plant emits $NO_X\; and SO_2$ which cause air pollution like acid-rain, ozone layer destroy and optical smoke, therefore there are many kinds of methods considered for removing them such as SCR, catalyst, plasma process, and plasma-catalyst hybrid process. T$TiO_2$ is commonly used as catalyst to remove $NO_X$ gas because it have very excellent chemical characteristic as photo catalyst. In this paper, $NO_X$ sensing characteristic of $TiO_2$ thin film deposited by R.F Magnetron sputtering is investigated. A finger shaped electrode on $Al_2$O$_3$ substrate is designed and $TiO_2$ is deposited on the electrode by the magnetron sputtering deposition system. Chemical composition of the deposited $TiO_2$ thin film is $TiO_{1.9}$ by RBS analysis. When the UV is irradiated on it with flowing air, capacitance of $TiO_2$ thin film increases, however, when NO gas is put into the system with air, it immediately decreases because of photo chemical reaction. and it monotonously decreases with increasing NO concentration.

  • At present electrical and electronic technologies is rapidly improved, and they have formed their market widely. New technologies such as traffic signal system, navigation system and unmanned vehicle are connected with transportation field. Among these advanced technologies, the Image Processing Technology has been used for the astro-navigation, medicine, military field and so forth. Recently The Image Processing Technologies are widely applied to traffic enforcement system for signal, speed limit and HOV lane. In this study we developed the advanced enforcement system for over limit(overweight)vehicles using Image Processing System.

Preparation of pyroelectric BSCT thick films by screen-printing (스크린 프린팅을 이용한 초전형 BSCT 후막의 제작)

  • $(Ba_{0.6},Sr_{0.3},Ca_{0.1})TiO_3$ powders, which were prepared by sol-gel method using a solution of Ba-acetate, Sr-acetate and Ca-acetate and Ti iso-propoxide, were mixed with organic vehicle and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on high purity alumina substrates. The structural and dielectirc properties were investigated for various $Pr_2O_3$ and $Y_2O_3$doping contents. As a result of thermal analysis of $(Ba_{0.6},Sr_{0.3},Ca_{0.1})TiO_3$ powders, the exothermic peak was observed at around $670^{\circ}C$ due to the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase. All BSCT thick films, sintered at $1420^{\circ}C$ for 2h, showed the typical XRD patterns of perovskite polycrystalline structure. The average grain size of the specimens decreased with amount of $Pr_2O_3$ and $Y_2O_3$ contents.

  • In this paper, a control system for E-bike based on IOT was developed, which collects and monitors information of states of E-bike and surrounding environments from several sensors and control devices in E-bike, and informs the possible dangers to rider when riding the E-bike. Developed electronic control system can manage battery efficiently, obtain battery's remaining power in real-time and provide possible riding distance to rider. It makes possible for rider to schedule near optimal riding route in terms of battery usage and respond quickly to battery discharge. Results of applying developed system to E-bike show that according to driving-mode, possible driving distance can be calculated efficiently and using user application App, real-time driver position marking and driving route searching functions lead to energy efficient E-bike driving. Later we will endeavor to integrate BMS, ECU, smart-phone and PC(server) to provide stable driving system based on various driving information of E-bike.

An Ensemble Classifier Based Method to Select Optimal Image Features for License Plate Recognition (차량 번호판 인식을 위한 앙상블 학습기 기반의 최적 특징 선택 방법)

  • This paper proposes a method to detect LP(License Plate) of vehicles in indoor and outdoor parking lots. In restricted environment, there are many conventional methods for detecting LP. But, it is difficult to detect LP in natural and complex scenes with background clutters because several patterns similar with text or LP always exist in complicated backgrounds. To verify the performance of LP text detection in natural images, we apply MB-LGP feature by combining with ensemble machine learning algorithm in purpose of selecting optimal features of small number in huge pool. The feature selection is performed by adaptive boosting algorithm that shows great performance in minimum false positive detection ratio and in computing time when combined with cascade approach. MSER is used to provide initial text regions of vehicle LP. Throughout the experiment using real images, the proposed method functions robustly extracting LP in natural scene as well as the controlled environment.

  • Energy Saving Methods in existing railway vehicle are considered by active approach such as regenerative energy storage and utilization, eco driving, etc. On the other hands, energy saving measures in railway station are operated by passive method such as reduction of operating time in ventilation system, cooing system and power equipment. To reduce energy and for independence in railway system, it requires an active energy saving measures. It needs to its own power source besides the power source of electric supply company such as renewable energy and regenerative energy and take the advantage of power storage system and stored power are used in optimum time. This paper deal with 3-level NPC inverter and T-type NPC inverter that used in various multi-level topology applicable to the railway system.
