  • In this paper, the features extracted from vibration time signals are used to detect the bearing fault condition. The decision tree is applied to diagnose the bearing status, which has the benefits of being an expert system that is based on knowledge history and is simple to understand. This paper also suggests a genetic algorithm (GA) as a method to reduce the number of features. In order to show the potentials of this method in both aspects of accuracy and simplicity, the reduced-feature decision tree is compared with the non reduced-feature decision tree and the PCA-based decision tree.

  • The primary goal of this study is to analyze fire hazards of electric home appliances such as electric iron and electric heater using fault tree analysis(FTA). A fault tree(FT) is constructed and used to analyze fire hazards in electric home appliances. The fault tree is built from events that may occur in electric home appliances. The failure rate of basic events are derived from the value of experimental results and reference. And an algorithm analyzing fire in electric home appliances is suggested. We show how fault tree analysis, carried out by means of failure rate, is able to diagnose fire hazards of electric home appliances in a precise manner. We present numerical results such as fire probability of electric home appliances, importance measure, fire cause, etc. It can be helpful in preventing the fire hazards in electric home appliances.

  • This paper is to investigate relationships between tree inception voltage, tree extension or treeing breakdown voltage and physical characteristics changing as parameter of the post-cured conditions of thermo-setting epoxy resin. According to the results in this paper, the optimal tree inception voltage and treeing breakdown voltage of the samples are obtained for the sample post cured for 15 hours at 100 'C. It can be noticed that these results are closely related with the state of interior molecule coupling and three-dimen sional cross-linked of thermo-setting epoxy resin. And tree inception, tree extension and treeing breakdown of the samples are affected significantly on the post-cured conditions and the cooling method after post-cured of thermo-setting epoxy resin. Moreover, the tree extension by ambient temperature are closely related with softening temperature of thermo-setting epoxy resin.

  • In this paper, a system to measure tree degradation of three dimensional phenomena in organic insulating materials using image processing system is discussed. Using a computerized tomography method, volume of tree immediately after tree initiation, as well as changes in the configuration of the tree were measured, which up to now have been difficult to measure. The specimens used an acrylic acid resin. As a result, it was possible to record the cross sections of the tree, and to describe the volume of the tree by the three dimensional measurement.

  • Water tree experiments were done for several types of cross-linked polyethylenes. Test method is followed by ASTM D6097. Polyethylene is divided for four subgroup. First One is chemically cross-linked general XLPE, and second one is chemically cross-linked tree-retardant XLPE, and the third one is silane cross-linked polyethylene made by monosil process, and the last one is silane cross-linked polythylene made by copolymer. Tree retardant XLPE shows the shortest water tree length. Cahemcally cross-linked general XLPE shows the longest water tree length. Silane cross-linked polyethylene by copolymer is similar to tree retardant XLPE and similar breakdown strength. So silane cross-linked XLPE by copolymer could be used for the the medium voltage cable which should have tree retardant characteristics.

  • This paper presents a new method of Huffman decoding which gives a significant improvement of processing efficiency based on the reconstruction of an efficient one-dimensional array data structure incorporating the numeric interpretation of the accrued codewords in the binary tree. In the Proposed search method, the branching address is directly obtained by the arithematic operation with the incoming digit value eliminating the compare instruction needed in the binary tree search. The proposed search method gives 30% of improved Processing efficiency and the memory space of the reconstructed Huffman table is reduced to one third compared to the ordinary ‘compare and jump’ based binary tree. The experimental result with the six MPEG-2 AAC test files also shows about 198% of performance improvement compared to those of the widely used conventional sequential search method.

  • With the growth of memory capacity and density, memory testing and repair with the goal of yield improvement have become more important. Therefore, the development of high efficiency redundancy analysis algorithms is essential to improve yield rate. In this letter, we propose an improved built-in redundancy analysis (BIRA) algorithm with a minimized binary search tree made by simple calculations. The tree is constructed until finding a solution from the most probable branch. This greatly reduces the search spaces for a solution. The proposed BIRA algorithm results in 100% repair efficiency and fast redundancy analysis.

  • In this paper, a system for measuring of treeing degradation in organic dielectric material by using image processing technics, is discussed. Traditionally, treeing is measured by visual method. It made difficulty to understanding for features and changes in the configlEation of the tree growth. Using image processing system, it is made to describe the characters of the tree growth, specially length of tree and area of treeing degradation. From this image processing and visual measurement, the similar results were made, an automatic measurement system was made for configuration of the tree growth.

  • This paper suggests a method to recognize the various defect patterns of cold mill strip using binary decision tree automatically constructed by genetic algorithm. The genetic algorithm and K-means algorithm were used to select a subset of the suitable features at each node in binary decision tree. The feature subset with maximum fitness is chosen and the patterns are classified into two classes by a linear decision boundary. This process was repeated at each node until all the patterns are classified into individual classes. The final recognizer is accomplished by neural network learning of a set of standard patterns at each node. Binary decision tree classifier was applied to the recognition of the defect patterns of cold mill strip and the experimental results were given to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed scheme.

  • Solid insulation exposed to voltage is degraded by electrical tree process. And the degradation of the insulation is accelerated by voltage application. For this experimental, specimen of electrical tree model is made by XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene). And the size of the specimen is $7^*5^*7mm^3$. Distance between needle and plane is 2 mm. Voltages applied to acceleration test are ranged 12 to 15 kV. And distribution characteristic of degraded stage is studied too. By PD detecting and data processing, discharge data was acquired from PD detecting system (Biddle instrument). The system presents statistical distribution of phase resolved. Moreover, the processing time of electrical tree is recorded to know the speed of degradation according to voltage. Finally, it's used PD classification by ANFIS method.
