  • For over 25 years, the stray currents from DC electric railroads have caused serious interference problems with underground metallic infrastructures in Korea. The most serious interference is reported at the pipelines near the depot areas. Our field survey proves that this phenomena is mainly due to the missing of dedicated rectifiers for mainline, depot and/or workshop areas. Because it takes so much time and costs too much to replace the traction power system, we consider a stray current confinement method which collects the stray currents and drains them to the negative terminal of the rectifier. This can be realized by installing a stray current collecting wire along the depot boundary. Moreover, we found the stray current collecting reinforcement bar located beneath the rails of concrete slab tracks. Using this bar, we arc going to draing the stray currents from mainline rails. In this paper we show the result of field survey on railroad facilities and present the stray current confinement method under field test.

  • To analyze the film cooling in a liquid rocket engine, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of the wall-impingement liquid film. We designed an optimal two-dimensional device for measuring the thickness of the liquid film thickness. This device quantitatively measures the liquid-film thickness distribution. In previous liquid-film thickness measuring devices, the liquid film was formed over the entire area of the sensor. However, its formation depended on injection conditions. To compensate for this, optimal resistors are selected. Additionally, saturation variations with partial saturation are analyzed. Furthermore, calibration using the enhanced plate method is conducted with improvements in spatial resolution. The device designed here can be used to analyze the properties of an impingement liquid film with a slit injector. This study can be used for film-cooling analysis in liquid rocket engines.

국산재의 응용물성연구III: 백합나무, 거제수나무, 오동나무의 수분흡착성 및 열적·전기적·음향적 성질 (Study on Physical Properties of Domestic Species III: Sorption, Thermal, Electrical and Acoustic properties of Liriodendron tulipifera, Betula costata, Paulownia coreana)

  • 주요 국산재의 여러 가지 응용물성을 지난 3년에 걸쳐 조사하였다. 전보(강 외 4인 2008, 변 외 5인 2008)에 이어 본보에서는 우리나라의 활엽수 주요 수종인 백합나무, 거제수나무, 오동나무를 재료로 사용하였다. 매년 동일한 장치와 실험조건으로 실험하였기 때문에 모든 수종에 대한 결과를 상호 비교 할 수 있었다. 수분흡착성 실험은 80메시 목분을 이용하였으며, 넓은 범위의 상대습도조건에 따른 평형 함수율과 흡착등온선을 구하였다. 열전도율과 열확산률은 열선열전도장치를, 전기의 부피저항률과 저 항은 고전기저항계를 이용하여 측정하였다. 정목재와 판목재의 열적 전기적 특성차이가 관찰되었는데 이는 해부학적 차이에 의한 것으로 보인다. 음향적 성질은 음향측정시스템을 사용하여 동적탄성률, 내부마찰을 측정하였다. 본 논문의 결과들은 목재구조물 설계, 휴대용 목재수분계 보정, 음향적 성질 등에 필요한 기본 자료를 제공한다.

High Efficient Inductive Power Supply System Implemented for On Line Electric Vehicles

  • The On Line Electric Vehicles(OLEV) that can pick up inductive power from underground coils on driving with high efficiency have been developed this year, and is now proposed in this paper. The IPS(Inductive Power Supply) system consists of power supply inverters, power supply rails, pick up modules, and a regulator. There are 3 generations of IPS have been developed so far, and the $4^{th}$ generation IPS is being developed. The $1^{st}$ generation has been demonstrated this Feb. 27, which is equipped with mechanically auto tracking pick-up module with 1cm air gap, and showed 80% power efficiency. The $2^{nd}$ generation IPS applied to an 120kW (average)/240kW(peak) motor powered electric bus has 17cm air gap with 72% power efficiency. For the $2^{nd}$ generation IPS, the Power supply inverter has 440V, 3phase input and 200A @ 20kHz output. The test power supply rail of 240m long is segmented by 60m each, where newly developed core structure and power cable are constructed under the road covered with asphalt of 5cm thickness. The pick-up modules which consist of core, winding wire, and rectifiers are fixed to the bottom of the bus which can carry more than 40 passengers and can pick up max. 60kW. To remove parasitic component and to transfer maximum power between them resonant circuit topology is applied to the primary and secondary sides. The EMF level is below 62.5mG at 1.75m from the center of the road to meet the regulation. Several effective ways of reducing EMF levels have been developed. In addition, effective ways to solve problems related high frequency power cables buried in ground and it's proof from soil have been studied also. This development shows that the IPS system is capable of supplying enough power to the pick-up of OLEV and can reduce battery size, weight and cost, which means the IPS with OLEV is one of the best candidate for EV.

철심과 권선을 이용한 전류제한기에 적용시킨 안정화층이 다른 YBCO Coated Conductor의 전류제한 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Current Limiting Characteristics of YBCO Coated Conductor with Different kinds of Stabilization Layer Applied to SFCL Using Iron Core and Coil)

  • The yttrium-barium-copper-oxide (YBCO) coated conductor, which supplement the fault of the existing superconducting current-limit materials YBCO thin film, bismuth-strontium-calcium-copper-oxide(BSCCO) wire and bulk, has been improved its mechanical weakness and has high index; hence, after quench YBCO coated conductor could limit the fault current effectively because of fast resistance occurrence speed. Furthermore, it has wide applicable area as an current limit material because it shows different resistance occurrence tendency by the thickness and kind of stabilization material sputtered on the superconducting layer. Therefore, many researchers are carrying out the study of application of YBCO coated conductor to superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) for making high quality current limit element, based on resistance type. On the other hand, the study for other type except resistance type has been rarely conducted for the application of YBCO coated conductor to SFCL as an current limit element. Consequently, in this study, YBCO coated conductor with different stabilization layer Cu and Stainless steel, is applied to SFCL using iron core and coil, and examine the many index points as an current limit element, such as current limit characteristic, the tendency of resistance occurrence, response time, the temperature trend for stability.

철조망 감시를 위한 무선 센서 네트워크에서 이산 웨이블릿 변환 기반의 동적 시간 정합 알고리즘을 이용한 특징 추출 (Feature Extraction using Dynamic Time-warped Algorithms based on Discrete Wavelet Transform in Wireless Sensor Networks for Barbed Wire Entanglements Surveillance)

  • 무선 센서 네트워크는 화산 감시, 전장 감시, 동물 서식지 감시, 건축물의 감시, 농장 관리, 의료분야등 다양한 분야에서 연구되고 있다. 국내에서도 국가 정책 사업으로 교량 및 건축물의 균열 감시, 표적의 침입 탐지 및 식별을 위한 무선 센서 네트워크 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 특히, 무선 센서 네트워크의 다양한 분야의 연구 중에서 철조망을 이용한 표적의 침입 탐지 및 식별에 관한 연구는 산업 시설, 보안지역, 교도소, 군사지역, 공항 등 다양한 분야에서 사용된다. 현재 철조망 감시는 대부분 유선 센서 노드를 통한 유선 센서 네트워크 환경에서 이루어지고 있다. 기존의 유선 센서 네트워크는 높은 데이터 전송률을 통해 수신되는 높은 정보의 신호를 이용하여 고속 푸리에 변환에 의한 신호의 주파수 분석 기법을 사용해 왔다. 하지만, 유선 센서 네트워크의 높은 데이터 전송률과 비교하여 무선 센서 네트워크의 센서 노드는 유선 센서 네트워크에 비해 매우 낮은 데이터 전송률을 가진다. 따라서 무선 센서 네트워크에서 수신되는 신호의 정보가 매우 낮고, 유선 센서 네트워크에서 사용된 고속 푸리에 변환에 의한 신호의 주파수 분석에 따른 주파수별 특징 추출을 할 수 없다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 철조망 감시를 위한 높은 데이터 전송률을 보장하는 유선 센서 네트워크에 비해 제한된 통신자원과 센서 노드의 낮은 데이터 전송률로 인해 수신되는 한정적인 신호의 정보를 이용한 무선 센서 네트 워크에서 철조망의 표적 침입 탐지 및 식별을 위한 특징 추출 알고리즘을 제안한다.

에멀젼폭약을 사용한 수중발파 사례 (A Case Study of the Underwater Blasting Using Emulsion Explosives)

  • 국내에서 실시하늘 수중발파의 경우 파리교각 건설을 위해 실시되는 우물통발파와 항만증심 준설 또는 가스관로 개설을 위한 굴착에 적용되고 있다. 우물통발파의 경우 작업과정은 수직구 발파작업과 동일하며 물을 채운 후 발과 하는 것이 다르다. 그러나 수중 증심 공사의 경우 바다위의 바지에서 천공 및 장약 준비작업, 결선작업이 이루어지고, 장약 및 전색작업은 전문 다이버에 의해 수중에서 이루어진다. 그러므로 수중발파작업은 같은 작업이라도 신중하고 치밀한 계획이 필요하다. 본 사례는 8,500TEU급 초대형 콘테이너 선박의 입항 가능성에 대비, 선박의 안전 운항을 위한 부산 신항 중심 공사에서 에멀젼폭약과 비전기뇌관을 사용하여 굴착 현장에 근접하여 위치한 무인등대에 대한 피해를 최소화 하면서 주변의 환경성 및 진동의 영향을 고려하여 수중발파를 실시하였다. 이 사례를 통하여 앞으로 에멀젼폭약과 비전기뇌관을 사용하여 수중발파를 하고자 하는 현장에 민은 도움이 될 것으로 예상된다.

전철급전회로 보호시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Protection System on the Electric Railways)

  • The Load characteristic of electric railway requires the power demand of the high capacity which amplitude is spacial-temporally fluctuated due to frequent starting and stopping with large tractive force. The conventional electric railway mainly consists of the resistance controlled and the thyristor controlled locomotives, are compensated for their bad characteristics of the power factor$(70\sim80%)$ with installation of another capacitor improving power factor at the substation. Since 1994, VVVF train car with good characteristics of power factor(100%) have been introduced and operated in Kwa-Chon Line. From the present technical tendency, it is judged that introduction of the locomotive with various controlled methods is necessary. The protective equipments installed at the substation are complicated and various aspects to detect faults and reduce their extension, so the universal countermeasures are required. Specially in the case of the fault occurrence it is difficult to calculate the fault location because of the change in the contactline constant according to modifying the characteristics of the contactline (the dualized catenary wire and extension, etc), so much time is required for the detection of fault location. In BT-fed method distance-relays and fault-locators are not installed, we have so many difficulties in the quick accident recovery.

열성층유동장에 놓인 원주후류의 특성에 대한 연구 (1) (A Study on the Characteristics of Cylinder Wake Placed in Thermally Stratified Flow (I))

  • The effects of thermal stratification on the flow of a stratified fluid past a circular cylinder were examined in a wind tunnel. In order to produce strong thermal stratifications, a compact heat exchanger type variable electric heater is employed. Linear temperature gradient of up to $250^{\circ}C/m$ can be well sustained. The velocity and temperature profiles in the cylinder wake with a strong thermal gradient of $200^{\circ}C/m$ were measured and the smoke wire flow visualization method was used to investigate the wake characteristics. It is found that the temperature field effects as an active contaminant, so that the mean velocity and temperature profiles can not sustain their symmetricity about the wake centerline when such a strong thermal gradient is superimposed. It is evident that the turbulent mixing in the upper half section is stronger than that of the lower half of the wake in a stably stratified flow.

  • A study to assess and show applications of the reliability compliance result of the new technology product of the lighting unit designed for end-to-end(or continuous row mounting) mounting has resented in this paper, we have taken the internal wiring included through-wire and other reliability compliance test result of the KTL(Korea Testing Laboratory), KETI(Korea Electric Testing Institute) and KESCO(Korea Electrical Safety Corporation). All of the these reliability compliance test results for the lighting unit designed for end-to-end mounting, named Lite-Way, are able to exactly be given more engineering and construction additional applications.
