  • The development of a new railway vehicle is under progress through the Next Generation High-Speed Rail Development Project in Korea. Its aim is to develope fundamental technology of the vehicle that can run over 400km/h. The new distributed traction bogie system, 'HEMU'(High-speed Electric Multiple Unit), will be used and is different from previously developed high speed railway vehicles. Previous vehicles adopted push-pull type system, which means one traction-car drives rest of the vehicle. Due to the difference, investigation on dynamic behavior and its safety evaluation are necessary, as a part of verification of the design specification. In this paper, current progresses of researches are presented. And the High-Speed Railway vehicle system is evaluated for a dynamic characteristic simulation. Proper models including air-suspension system, wheel-rail, bogie and car-body will be developed according to the vehicle simulation scenario. International safety standard will be applied for final verification of the system. This research can propose a better solution when test running shows a problem in the parts and elements. Finally, the vehicle that has excellent performance will be developed, promoting academic achievement and technical development.

  • It is one of the most effective methods for improving the performance of electric railway vehicles to make better the wheel-rail adhesion characteristics. To study adhesion characteristic is to develop the equivalent reduction machine to experiment on the adhesion system. The experiment system makes it possible to change the wheel-rail adhesion force with various adhesion parameters, and therewith to test the adhesion control system with the reduction machine in a laboratory. In this paper, for improving adhesion performance shows actually control methods.

  • In DC electric railways, while an electric rail car is driving, a part of the working current returned to the substation through rails leaks into the ground. Such a stray current causes railway facilities and metal objects to corrode electrolytically. Therefore, change of stray current needs to be monitored constantly. But so far in domestic, the research on stray current measuring techniques and system adaption are insufficient. To estimate stray current, this paper addresses a method of monitoring the return current that is returned into the negative pole of the substation in real time.

  • Recently as the well-being diffuse and the living standard improves. People's demand for an environment lifestyle is gradually on the rise. The major source of the subway running train is rolling noise generated by the surface condition of wheel and rail. In this study, we research trends on the reduction noise level. Further-more, special traffic Ubiquitous helps to environment technical development.

The basic platform for the development of dynamic solver is prepared using nodal, modal coordinate system and wheel-rail contact module. Operating scenario is prepared using commercial dynamic analysis program and used for development of dynamic model, which contains many parts such as carbodies, bogies and suspension systems. Furthermore, international safety standard is applied for final verification of the system. Finally, the reliability of the dynamic model will be verified with test results in the further researches. This research will propose a better solution when test results shows a problem in the parts and elements. • Light rail is an electric railway system, characterized by its ability to operate single or multiple car consists (trains) along exclusive rights-of-way at ground level, on aerial structures, in subways or in streets, able to board and discharge passengers at station platforms or at street, track, or car-floor level and normally powered by overhead electrical wires. Depending upon the specific system, the light rail lends some major advantages to urban settings. The evaluation of light rail technology as a potential component of regional transit systems has been the subject of extensive studies throughout the country in the past decade. For the study, feasibility was defined as "the ability of an LRT system to achieve certain level of transportation market in comparison with other transportation alternatives." This paper describes the feasibility study to evaluate a proposed light rail development project. The minimum are those LRT systems that would met to make a project feasible for further evaluation.

  • The wearing slider of the rail motor car's pantograph is considerable changed by the type and the material properties. Especially, precipitation and arc influences are main factors decided to life time of wearing slider and contact wire. This study is wearing phenomenon analysis of Cu-type wearing slider with high electric conductivity and resistance arc through experiment by running train. Author observed that wearing phenomenon of Cu-type wearing slider with normal and abnormal wearing characteristics and comparatively analysis precipitation, mileage and weight influences of exchanged Cutype and Fe-type wearing sliders. In this paper result showed that necessity for the application which is the Fe-type of wearing slider had superior wear resisting capacity etc., through tribology approach.

  • There are operated the six thousand train in the interior of a country. 95% of them are possible usage of resuscitation. Especially, Among them VVVF-Inverter vehicle has a merit of the highest recycle rate. but we don't use a apt recycled energy. Although the existing recycle energy used inverter method supply with electric power, it is decided in accordance with the state of sources. So efficiency of recycled electric power is of poor quality and catenary-voltage-fluctuation be generate because of recycled electric power. and it is able to affect system of safety train service. We'll research the method of supply according to wire condition after storing recycle energy made during train's stopping relation to Advanced EMU Research. Those methods are divided SMES, Fly-Wheel and Supercapacitor, and Considering the both economical efficiency and system application, we'll develop recycle energy storage system suitable our country condition.

  • Wheel impact due to the joint discontinuity is a major source of uncomfortable vibration in the railway vehicles. Since the impact signal is measured using sensors attached to the bogie and its energy content is small compared to the other vibrations from the machineries such as motors and gear systems, the seperation of the impact signal is generally difficult. In this study a technique using an evolutionary spectrum is proposed in order to estimate the impact signal due to the rail joint discontinuity.
