  • The housing environment of the weak class in rural area is inferior, the elderly ratio is high, and senior citizens whose living by themselves are increasing. This study was to analyze the actual conditions of utilization status, characterization of residency, management method of the federation of construction associate's love house and local government's case, and usage of the village hall. For better study, we reviewed the literatures and conducted field surveys. The purpose of this study is to suggest a development plan of rural community living homes. The results of this study were as follows; First, it is important for proper site of rural community living home plans to select adjacent location in the surrounding medical and welfare facilities(including community facilities). Second, the living space for one person does not need such a space; about $33m^2$ is suitable. Third, it is important to use surplus area to make kitchen garden in the site planning. Also the architectural plans must be considered to minimize the maintenance costs for the sustainability of the house and winter heating expense problem.

  • Osteopotosis is a disease characterized by reduced amount of bone mass leading to enhanced bone flagility. The number of patients with osteoporotic vertebral fracture is increasing and it is one of the leading causes of morbidity in the elderly and postmenopausal women. It is a condition in which bone mass decrease, causing bones to be more susceptible to fracture. A trivial trauma can easily cause one or more bones to break in a person with severe osteoporosis. So it is a major health problem. Pysicians and patients are concerned with the optimum approach to the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. Until a recent date, many oriental medicine studies were performed to find the preventive and curative efficacy on the osteoporosis, which is differ from therapeutics of Western-medicine. The proper use of Herb-med and role of Accupuncture are issues that have generated major research efforts. This study was carried out to investigate evaluation of clinical and experimental study on the osteoporosis. So, these are to be mentioned in this paper.

  • Indoor location system using wireless sensor network technology was applied for the status evaluation and activity monitoring of elderly person or chronic invalid at home. Location awareness application is transparent to the daily activities, while providing the embedded computing infrastructure with an awareness of what is happening in this space. To locate an object, the active ceiling-mounted reference beacons were placed throughout the building. Reference beacons periodically publish location information on RF and ultrasonic signals to allow application running on mobile or static nodes to study and determine their physical location. Once object-carried passive listener receives the information, it subsequently determines it's location from reference beacons. By using only the sensor nodes without any external network infrastructure the cost of the system was reduced while the accuracy in our experiments. was fairly good and fine grained between 7 and 15 cm for location awareness in indoor environments. Passive architecture used here provides the security of the user privacy while at the server the privacy was secured by providing the authentication using Geopriv approach. This information from sensor nodes is further forwarded to base station where further computation is performed to determine the current position of object and several applications are enabled for context awareness.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study were to identify the essential component and meaning structure of the experience of 'Sockalee' among abused elders. Method: This study was done using a phenomenological analytic method by Giorgi. The participants in this study were six elders who had the previous experience of 'Sockalee' as abused elders. The data were collected by interviewing the participants from May to September, 2003. Generally, three interviews for one person were performed and each interview lasted for one and half hours. Results: The meanings of 'Sockalee' of abused elders were categorized with seven components. Those are (1) Unsolved family conflicts. (2) Being powerless. (3) Being pushed out. (4) Egocentric situation-recognition. (5) Strengthening egocentric situation-recognition (6) Attempts for re-powerfulness. (7) Release from abuse. (8) Situation recognition with others' position considered. Conclusion: Therefore, the nursing intervention must be focused on the above concerns to accomplish the successful solution for the abused elderly problems, especially approaching from the standpoint of the whole human.

  • This study aims to analyze and discuss the accidents based on the level of traffic culture (LOT). In pursuing the above, LOT are divided into three categories based on the standardized index of traffic culture. Also, this study focuses on developing the accident models using GLM (generalized linear model). The main results are as follows. First, the null hypotheses that the ratios of fatal and serious injured persons (FSI) are the same over categories are rejected. Second, as the common variables, the ratio of turn signal usage and elderly population are analysed to be impacted to the ratio of FSI. Third, the traffic culture indicators among 5 accident factors which give impact to 'high level' are judged to affect the reduction of FSI. Fourth, compared to other levels, the traffic law violations among 7 accident factors of 'medium level' are estimated to influence the increase of FSI. Finally, in 'low level', the increasing ratio of traffic culture index compared to that of previous year and the number of hospital beds per person are evaluated to be significant to reducing the ratio of FSI. This study can be expected to give some policy implications to regional traffic safety policy-making.

  • In this paper, we outline the research issues that we are pursuing towards building of location aware environments for mainly ubiquitous healthcare applications. Such location aware application can provide what is happening in this space. To locate an object, such as patient or elderly person, the active ceiling-mounted reference beacons were placed throughout the building. Reference beacons periodically publish location information on RF and ultrasonic signals to allow application running on mobile or static nodes to study and determine their physical location. Once object-carried passive listener receives the information, it subsequently determines it's location from reference beacons. The cost of the system was reduced while the accuracy in our experiments was fairly good and fine grained between 7 and 12 cm for location awareness in indoor environments by using only the sensor nodes and wireless sensor network technology. • As increasing demand for the living environment to promote social health, this study focused on consumers customized rental housing community space. Set the community spatial planning objectives and strategies shown in previous studies to the conceptual model for evaluation of community space. Based on the planning methods and standards of consumers custom community facilities, we analyzed the Seoul consumer customized public rental housing nine cases. Because almost located in the small vacant lot, they had limitations as a base for the local community. Nevertheless, through the arrangement of the building, Child care households increase the chance of contact with the neighbors. In elderly households, welfare facilities strengthen the character of as a base for local community. 1-2 person households situated close to the cultural facilities, by installing a hobby room and gym, was judged to be able to promote the community. Consumer custom rental housing community space evaluation items presented in this study, was set up by analysis of the conceptual model for evaluation of community space and implications of the 9 cases.

  • Using a sample of 107 married couples, this study investigated the influence of self-reported argument-communication behaviors on marital satisfaction. The results were as follows. (a) Wives used more criticism, contempt, and self-assertion during marital arguments than husbands. There were no significant gender differences in the levels of defensiveness, stonewalling, and active listening. (b) Multilevel analyses indicated that marital satisfaction was predicted by the person's own level of self-assertion and stonewalling(i.e., actor effects) and by his or her spouse's level of stonewalling(i.e., partner effect). No other significant actor and partner effects were found. Also, there were no significant gender differences in the sizes of effects. (c) A cluster analysis of both spouses' communication behaviors during marital arguments identified four distinct groups of married couples. : mutual constructive, husband constructive-wife destructive, husband destructive-wife constructive, and mutual destructive. Mutual constructive couples reported the best marital satisfaction.
