Although arthroscopic surgery has been used conventionally, it has not been widely adopted yet due to the risks of complications, including nerve damage, technical difficulties, and limited indications. As shown in other joints, however, the use of an arthroscope will gradually increased in the elbow joint ('Arthroscopy always wins'). Herein, arthroscopic treatments and arthroscopic ulnar nerve decompression will be discussed in cases of elbow osteoarthritis.

Repair of the rotator cuff tear is a joint-tightening procedure that can worsen joint stiffness. This paradoxical phenomenon complicates treatment of rotator cuff tear with joint stiffness. As a result, there is controversy about how and when to treat joint stiffness. As many treatments have been published, this review discusses the latest findings on treatment of rotator cuff tear with joint stiffness.

Clear overlapping of the bilateral epicondyle and proper separation of the elbow joint are crucial for obtaining accurate lateral general radiographs of the elbow. However, due to the complex anatomical structure of the elbow, achieving optimal positioning is challenging, leading to the need for repeated x-ray examinations. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the angle of the forearm in patients where accurate lateral images of the elbow joint can't be obtained after vertical incidence using a styrofoam device during elbow joint lateral x-ray imaging. Twenty patients were enrolled in our study following the established protocol. First, a vertical x-ray at an angle of 0° between the forearm and the table was taken (control group). Here, if the lateral image of the elbow joint was deemed inadequate, the forearm angle was adjusted using custom-made styrofoam supports with 5° and 10° inclinations (experimental groups). For the evaluation method, two assessors utilized a 5-point Likert scale to assess the images. The reliability of the assessments was analyzed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. As a result, patients with inadequate overlap of the bilateral epicondyle and separation of the elbow joint in the initial examination (control group) were able to obtain the best images when setting a 10° angle between the forearm and the table. The subjective evaluation was 1.6 ± 0.8 points at 0°, 2.7 ± 0.8 points at 5°, and 4.4 ± 1.3 points at 10°, respectively. The reliability analysis for the angles of 0°, 5°, and 10° yielded Cronbach's alpha values of 0.867, 0.697, and 0.922, respectively. In conclusion, when it is not possible to obtain accurate images using the conventional position and X-ray beam direction, it is considered that by initially acquiring images with an angle of 10° between the forearm and the table, and gradually decreasing the angle while obtaining images, it would be possible to achieve the optimal image while reducing the number of repeat examinations.
In this paper, we analyzed the contraction patterns of active elbow muscles during isometric, concentric and eccentric contraction. The analysis parameters consist of frequency domain parameters (mean frequency, median frequency, peak frequency, peak power, skewness, kurtosis) and time domain paraseters (zero crossing, positive maxima, integrated EMG). The results of this study were as follows; The BR/BB of isometric contraction appeared to be Venter as the elbow joint was more extended. The BR /BB during concentric and eccentric contraction tended to increase with more extension of the elbow joint angle, but there was no significant difference between concentric and eccentric contraction. Further, the EMG power spectrum due to the type of contraction were different betwen eccentric and concentric contraction. According to the results, it was found that the activation pattern in elbow flexor muscles was different during three different muscle contraction pattern. Therefore, elbow flexor muscles should not be considered a single functioning unit. Especially, at the time domain analysis, IEMG is a dominant parameter for analysis of activation patterns, and the skewness kurtosis can be useful parameters in functional recognition for prosthesis control purpose.

While shoulder hemiarthroplasty is still used to treat young patients with shoulder pathology, the use of this procedure has substantially declined in recent years due to its significant complication profile. Glenoid wear with arthrosis is one of the major postoperative complications following shoulder hemiarthroplasty, and efforts to prevent this complication led many scientists to explore alternative weight-bearing surfaces on arthroplasty implants to decrease joint wear and improve patient outcomes. Pyrolytic carbon, or pyrocarbon, is a material that has better biocompatibility, survivorship, strength, and wear resistance compared to the materials used in traditional shoulder hemiarthroplasty. Pyrocarbon implants have been used in orthopedics for over 50 years; recently, their utility in shoulder hemiarthroplasty has garnered much interest. The purpose behind the use of pyrocarbon in shoulder hemiarthroplasty is to decrease the risk of progressive glenoid wear, especially in young active patients in whom joint preservation is important. Promising survivorship and outcomes have been demonstrated by recent studies, including limited glenoid wear following pyrocarbon hemiarthroplasty. Nevertheless, these clinical studies have been limited to relatively small case series with limited long-term follow-up. Accordingly, additional research and comparative studies need to be conducted in order to properly assess the therapeutic efficacy and value of pyrocarbon hemiarthroplasty.
Elbow joint injuries during exercise mostly occur by repeated stress to the joint than direct trauma. A pitcher who uses his arm above his head is most likely to be injured. So learning the right way to exercise and gaining the strength by maturating the body are essential for diminishing the chance of injury. On lateral ulnar tendon injury, which is most commonly injured area on elbow joint, pitchers generally complain of pain in arm movement above head and reduction of velocity, accuracy, and number of pitching. When there is pain on upper arm in harsh using, the stress fracture must be thought and epicondylar physis fracture of medial arm can occur by repeated abduction stress and contraction of flexors on forearm on children with immature skeleton. Osteochondritis dissecans of capitullum occur in young athletes who use there upper limb continuously lifting weights and gym work. And stress of abduction-extension includes damage of soft tissue and bone components, post medial crush syndrome, lateral ulnar ligament injury, extensor-abductor injury, stress of radius- capitullum are in this category.
The axes of upper forearm coordinate system have been considered as principal axis of each segment which was component of elbow joint. The purpose of this study was to verify whether the mean direction(principal axis) of instantaneous axes of rotation for pure flexion/extension motion coincided with the flexion/extension axis of upper forearm coordinate system. The same procedure was done for pronation/supination motion. Furthermore, it was tested indirectly that there was an interaction effect between the two rotational motions. The results showed that most segment coordinate axes statistically were not consistent with the mean directions of flexion/extension and pronation/supination axes of rotation. From the results, it would be concluded that the ISB coordinate systems was proved to be a little valid for human movement analysis. There also was an effect of pronation/supination angles on flexion/extension motion.
Specific diagnosis of orthopedic disease can be diffcult in canine practice. Failure to detect the clinical signs of a disorder during physical examination of dogs with acute or chronic lameness is the most common reason for failure to make specific diagnosis. A 6-month-old, female doberman with history of swelling and non-weight-bearing lameness in the left forelimb was referred to Beterinary Teaching Hospital of Chungbuk National University. Physical examination, plain radiography, and conventional three-phase radionuclide bone scan were performed in the patient. Based on the physical exam and radiography, this case was diagnosed as elbow strain and subluxation. Conventional three-phase bone scan detected soft tissue inflammation and osteochondral lesions of elbow joint, and revealed good agreement with clinical findings. Therefore, conventional three-phase bone scan was able to provide the precise information about inflammation of soft tissue and osteochondral lesions of joint.
Purpose: The purpose of the present current study was to examine control of upper limb multi-joint movements with differential coordination stability. To achieve the goals of the study, torque analyses were utilized to answer questions about how torque components were differed among various elbow-wrist coordination patterns. Methods: Eight self-reported right-handed college students (3 males and 5 females, mean age=20.6 yr) were volunteered. The task required participants to rhythmically coordinate the flexion-extension motions of their elbow and wrist with coordination relationship of $0^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, and $180^{\circ}$relative phases between the two joints. Mean relative phase and phase stability (standard deviation of relative phase) were computed to for analysisze of overall coordination performance. To determine the figure out characteristics of torque components in elbow and wrist joints, impulse values of muscle torque (MT) and interactive torque (IT) and MT as a percentage of cycle duration (MT-PCD) were analyzed. Results: Torque results showed that the proximal elbow joint generated motions with mainly muscle efforts regardless of coordination patterns, while the distal wrist joint adjusted the coordination patterns by changing amount of MT. Impulse analyses showed that the least stable $90^{\circ}$ pattern was performed by utilizing a similar coordination strategy of the most stable $0^{\circ}$ pattern. Conclusion: The present current study suggests that the roles of distal and proximal joints differ in order to achieve various multi-joint coordination movements. This study provides information for use in gives an idea to development of rehabilitation or training programs for to persons with an impaired upper limb motor ability.
