This study examines the issue of space management of university facilities by an assessment model as part of efforts to deal with the crisis of universities. To this end, the study addressed efficiency issue and structural problems using assessment model factors, with the aim of figuring out legitimacy and allocating methods for this purpose. Selected model factors included utilization ratio, residual ratio, vacancy ratio, and occupancy ratio, while for the latter, we investigated into the present situations of space use, focusing on construction, design, and living dimensions. As a result, the study suggested that in the future universities will resort to extension and rebuilding or new building for their facilities. To ensure space efficiency without conflict, we should follow legitimacy of space allocation and composition, building quality university facilities, creating quality environment, preventing tuition from rising or Improving welfare to keep pace with the new era.

Several transgenic marine medaka Oryzias dancena strains harboring a green fluorescent protein (GFP) reporter construct regulated by an endogenous ${\beta}$-actin promoter were established and their expression characteristics in relation to transgene copy numbers were examined in 21 transgene genotypes. Most of the transgenic strains displayed transgene insertion patterns typical of microinjection-mediated introduction of foreign DNA into fish embryos, characterized by the random integration of multiple transgene copies (ranging from 1 - 282 copies per cell), often accompanied by the formation of concatemer(s), as assessed by genomic Southern blot hybridization analysis and qPCR. Transgenic strains showed ubiquitous and continued temporal and spatial expression patterns of the transgenic GFP during most of their life cycle, from the embryonic stage to adulthood, enabling assessment of the expression pattern of the endogenous ${\beta}$-actin gene. However, a comparative evaluation of transgene copy numbers and expression levels showed that copy number-dependent expression, the stability of the ubiquitous distribution and expression efficiency per transgene copy varied among the transgenic strains. Fluorescence expression levels were positively correlated with absolute transgene copy numbers, whereas the expression efficiency per transgene copy was inversely related to the number of transgene integrant copies. Data from this study will guide the selection of potentially desirable transgenic strains with ubiquitous expression of a fluorescent transgene, not only in this marine medaka species but also in other related model fish species.
Background: This cross-sectional study assessed the sleep quality using the ActiGraph and investigated the relationship between the parameters of sleep assessment and the type of shift work in Korean firefighters. Methods: The participants were 359 firefighters: 65 day workers (control group) and 294 shift workers (shift work group: 77 firefighters with 3-day shift, 72 firefighters with 6-day shift, 65 firefighters with 9-day shift, and 80 firefighters with 21-day shift). Sleep assessments were performed using the ActiGraph (wGT3X-BT) for 24 hours during day shift (control and shift work group) and night shift and rest day (shift work group). The participants recorded bed time and sleep hours during the measurement period. Results: Sleep efficiency, total sleep time, and percentage of wake after sleep onset during night work were lower in the shift work group than control group (p < 0.05). Sleep efficiency decreased in night shift and increased in rest day, whereas wake after sleep onset increased in night shift and decreased in rest day (p < 0.05). Among shift work groups, sleep efficiency of 6-day shift was higher in day shift, and sleep efficiency of 21-day shift was lower in night shift than other shift groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: We found that the sleep quality in night shift of the shift work group was poorer than the control group. As to the type of shift work, sleep quality was good in 6-day shift and poor in 21-day shift. Thus, fast rotating shift such as 6-day shift may be recommended to improve the sleep quality of the firefighters.
The effects of coagulants on the microorganisms when they are injected directly into the biological treatment facility for T-P removal have been easily observed from the results of past experiments. As such this study is set out to derive the effective plans for the coagulant dosage by analyzing the effects of the injected coagulant on the microbial activity during the chemical treatment for T-P removal. The research methods entailed the assessment of removal efficiency of T-P according to the coagulant dosage while changing the molar ration between Alum and influent phosphorus. At the same time Specific Oxygen Uptake Rate (SOUR) according to the coagulant dosage was measured. SOUR was used as a method for indirect assessment of the microbial activity according to the coagulant dosage. The results from the study showed that with the increase in the alum dosage, the removal efficiency T-P tended to increase. On the other hand, the increase in coagulant dosage resulted in the decrease in SOUR, which indicates the decrease in the microbial activity. Such reduction in the activity could be explained by the increase in the concentration of removal efficiency of $TBOD_5$. Based on experiment results from the study, it is determined that coagulant dosage affects the microbial activity. Moreover, the indirect assessment on the microbial activity using SOUR is considered possible.
This paper proposes a DEA-AR model for the efficiency evaluation of the iron ore brands in an integrated steel mill. The input factor is defined as unit cost of each brand based on CIF and two output factors are chosen as Fe and Al which are the important ingredients of iron ore. The relative importance between two output factors is determined by several experts using AHP model. The efficiency of each brand is determined using DEA and DEA-AR models. The negative correlation between the DEA-AR efficiency and the unit cost (CIF) is shown as significant whereas no significant correlation exist between the efficiency and the output factors. Also, the Kruskal Wallis rank sum test shows that there exist efficiency differences among the iron ore types whereas no difference is shown among the countries. The result could be utilized in selecting good brands of iron ores based on the DEA-AR efficiency in an integrated steel mill.
The Energy Efficiency Standards and Labelling Act, as amended by the Rational Energy Utilization Act, provides energy efficiency standards and labellings for six equipment categories(viz, refrigerators, air-conditioners, fluorescent lamps and ballasts, incandescent lamps, cars) authorizes the Ministry of Trade. Industry and Energy (MOTIE) to prescribe amended or new energy efficiency standards and labelling standards. This study was initiated by the KIER(Korea Institute of Energy Research) in 1992. KIER's assessment of the appliance energy efficiency standards is designed to evaluate their statistical and engineering analysis according to Korean Industrial Standards(KS). And to make didtinction between the poor efficiency and good efficiency models. 5 grades are classified depending on their tested energy efficiency. This year, based on our analysis, MOTIE mandated updated standards for refrigerators, air-conditioners, Incandescent lamps, and fluorescent lamps.
Economic assessment of solar thermal power generation systems was carried out by calculating the levelized electricity cost. Four different commercial (or near commercial) solar thermal power systems (parabolic trough system, power tower system with saturated steam, power tower system with molten salts, and dish-stilting system) were considered for assessment. The assessment also included sensitivity analysis covering the effects of system capacity, direct normal insolation, and the system efficiency.
