  • The number of quantization bits of the input signals $X_k$,$Y_k$ need to be optimally determined through the trade-off between the H/W complexity and the BER performance in Turbo codes applications. Also, an effective means to incorporate a channel reliability $L_c$ in the Log-MAP-based Turbo decoding is highly required. because it has a major effect on both the complexity and the performance. In this paper, a novel bit-shifting approach that substitutes for the multiplying is proposed so as to effectively incorporate. $L_c$ in Turbo decoding. The optimal number of quantization bits of $X_k$,$Y_k$ is investigated through Monte-Carlo simulations assuming that bit-shifting approach is adopted. In addition. The effects of an incorrect estimation of noise variance on the performance of Turbo codes is investigated. There is a confined range in which the effects of an incorrect estimation can be ignored.

Rock Permeability Estimation from Hydraulic Injection Tests in a Sealed Borehole Interval

  • We propose a borehole test technique to estimate permeability of rocks in borehole. The borehole tests are hydraulic injection tests such as leak-off test and hydraulic fracturing tests, which are originally conducted for stress or casing integrity assessment and not for permeability measurement. We use one-dimensional radial diffusion equation to interpret fluid injection test results in terms of permeability. We apply this technique to a leak-off test conducted at a depth of 700 m in a wellbore, where rock formation is mudstone. The estimated permeability is at an order of $10^{-16}m^2$, which is somewhat high but within the range reported for mudstones previously. Quantitative rick assessment suggests that an accurate measurement of open hole section length is important to improve reliability of results. More data may be needed to ensure the reliability of this technique. If validated, however, this technique can provide cost-effective estimation of in situ permeability without conducting independent permeability tests in borehole.

모노파일용 원거리 무선 모니터링 시스템의 유효거리 평가 (Effective Range Evaluation of Wireless Monitoring System for Monopile)

  • 구조물 안정성 평가를 위한 무선 모니터링 시스템의 경우 신뢰성을 확보할 수 있는 측정거리에 한계가 존재한다. 본 연구의 목적은 무선 모니터링 시스템에서 측정거리의 변화가 계측된 데이터의 미치는 영향을 파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 데이터로거와 수신기 사이는 블루투스 규격을, 수신기와 화면출력장치 사이는 와이파이 규격을 이용하여 무선 모니터링 시스템을 구축하였다. 모노파일 구조물의 하중응답을 모사하기 위하여 나일론 재질로 모형 모노파일을 제작하였으며, 해머 타격장치를 이용하여 하중재하를 실시하였다. 모형 모노파일에 설치된 전기저항식 변형률계를 데이터로거에 연결하여 모니터링을 수행하였다. 데이터로거와 수신기 사이의 거리 그리고 수신기와 화면출력장치 사이의 거리를 변화시켜 거리에 따른 측정값을 비교하였다. 실험결과, 블루투스 규격과 와이파이 규격 모두 유효범위 내에서는 측정거리의 증가에 따라 데이터 수신율이 거의 일정하였으나, 유효범위를 넘어서는 데이터의 수신율이 급격히 감소하는 경향이 관찰되었다. 또한, 데이터의 수신율은 모노파일의 고유주파수 분석에도 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 수행한 무선 모니터링 시스템의 유효범위 평가는 해상에 설치되는 모노파일과 같은 구조물의 안정성 평가를 위한 무선 모니터링 시스템 구성시 측정거리의 결정에 기초적 자료로 활용될 수 있음을 보여준다.

Nondestructive crack detection in metal structures using impedance responses and artificial neural networks

  • Among nondestructive damage detection methods, impedance-based methods have been recognized as an effective technique for damage identification in many kinds of structures. This paper proposes a method to detect cracks in metal structures by combining electro-mechanical impedance (EMI) responses and artificial neural networks (ANN). Firstly, the theories of EMI responses and impedance-based damage detection methods are described. Secondly, the reliability of numerical simulations for impedance responses is demonstrated by comparing to pre-published results for an aluminum beam. Thirdly, the proposed method is used to detect cracks in the beam. The RMSD (root mean square deviation) index is used to alarm the occurrence of the cracks, and the multi-layer perceptron (MLP) ANN is employed to identify the location and size of the cracks. The selection of the effective frequency range is also investigated. The analysis results reveal that the proposed method accurately detects the cracks' occurrence, location, and size in metal structures.

Comparison of the Changes in the Range of Motion on the Knee Joint According to the Contraction Intensity During Evjenth-Hamberg Stretching in Healthy Subjects: A Cross-Sectional Pilot Study

  • PURPOSE: This study compared the changes in the range of motion (ROM ) on the knee joint according to three different isometric contraction intensities when applying Evjenth - Hamberg stretching (EHS) to the hamstring muscles of healthy subjects. METHODS: Forty eight healthy subjects aged between 20 and 39 years were allocated randomly to four groups; performing EHS at 10% maximum voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) group, EHS at 50% MVIC group, EHS at 100% MVIC group, and control group (CG) pre-, and post-intervention. The flexibility of the hamstring muscles was evaluated using a digital goniometer for measuring the knee joint ROM motion. A Chattanooga stabilizer was used to adjust the MVIC intensity by 10%, 50%, and 100%, respectively. RESULTS: These results show that the pre- and post-intervention knee joint ROM were significantly different in all four groups (p<.05). The post-intervention knee joint ROM showed a significant difference between the 100% MVIC group and non-MVIC group (p<.05). The knee joint ROM difference between the pre- and post-interventions was similar in the 10% MVIC and 50% MVIC groups but significant differences were observed among the other groups (p<.05). CONCLUSION: EHS of the hamstring muscles was effective in improving the knee joint ROM with an isometric contraction intensity of 10%, 50%, or 100% MVIC, and of these, 100% MVIC was most effective.

최대 등척성 수축시 표면근전도에서 근 수축 개시점 결정을 위한 기법들의 신뢰도 (Reliability of the Onset Time Determinations During Maximal Isometric Contraction in Surface EMG)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the relative accuracy of a range of computer-based analysis with respect to EMG onset determined visually by an experienced examiner. Ten healthy students (6 male, 4 female) were recruited and three times randomly selected trials of isometric contraction of wrist flexion and extension were evaluated using four technique. These methods were compared which varied in terms of EMG processing, threshold value and the number of samples for which the mean must exceed the defined threshold, and beyond 7% of maximum amplitude. To identify determination of onset time, ICCs(Intraclass Correlation Coefficients) was used and inter-rater arid intra-rater reliability ranged good in visually derived onset values. The results of this study present that in wrist flexion and extension, the reliability of the inter and intra-examiner muscle contraction onset times through visual analysis showed beyond .971 with ICCs. The reliability of the muscle contraction onset time decision through visual reading, tested with computer analysis, showed a relationship of all the selected analysis methods with ICCs .859 and .871. The objective computer-based analysis comparing with visual reading at the same time is the effective and qualitative data analysis method, considering the specificity of each study method.

ESPI를 이용한 전자부품 비파괴 신뢰성평가 (Non-destructive Reliability Evaluation of Electronic Device by ESPI)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내에서 생산되는 에어콘용 팬의 진동해석을 위해 ESPI를 이용하였다. 기존의 진동해석 실험으로 많이 사용되는 가속도계를 에어콘용 팬에 직접 적용하는 데에는 형상의 제약 등으로 적용이 어려워 비접촉 진동해석기술을 요구하였다. 실험은 가진 장치를 이용하여 팬에 가진을 하고 ESPI를 이용하여 진동모드 및 고유주파수, 고유주파수의 범위를 검사하였다. 또한, 실험결과는 유한요소 해석과 비교되었으며, 실험결과로부터 실제 팬의 사용 회전수에서 제품의 신뢰성을 평가하였다 본 연구에서 사용된 ESPI는 품질개선을 위한 재질변화 또는 형상변화 시 설계측면에서 효과적인 설계정보를 제공할 수 있으며, 기존의 진동해석 기술의 단점을 보완할 수 있으리라 사료된다.

노년 여성 체형의 표준화된 3차원 측정 데이터 추출을 위한 기초 연구 (A Basic Study Contributes to Extract the Standardized 3D Body Data for Women Aged 60 and Older)

  • The purpose of this study was to offer the basis contributes to extract the standardized body data from 3D body measuring for women aged 60 and older. The WB4 of Cyberware was used, and the measuring program of 3D scanning data was 3DM. This study was focused to verify the reliability of 3D data and to offer the effective utilization of 3D measuring on the research for elderly women■s body. Subjects were 19 women aged 60 and older. And three women in late twenties and three dressforms for women were comparing subjects to analyze the signiscant difference by age or human body variable making error. First, 3D scanning was executed twice on each subject, but any significant difference was not appear between two scanning data. So we certifed we could get the consistent and reliable data from the 3D scanner used in this study. Second, the reliability of 3D measuring data was analyzed, and the error range which meant the difference between 3D data and traditional measuring data was analyzed. In elderly women, the significant difference between two data was appeared in 19 body parts. The 7 of 19 were concerned with armpit point. In young women, three significant difference were appeared, and in dressforms, any significant difference was not certified. From these results, we could certify that age or human body variable produced the difference between two data. Third, the data of elderly women from three measuring methods, 3D measuring, traditional measuring, and measuring on 2D photographs were compared. From the result, we found that the 3D measuring data was quite reliable for most body parts excluding some width parts. But in elderly women, there were some limitation to extract reliable data because of their unique body characteristics. In order to be a role of the effective measuring method, the 3D measuring protocol reflected the body characteristics of each age or gender had to be prepared.

저계산량의 정지위성 탑재용 위치유지 시스템에 관한 연구 (Compute Effective Onboard Stationkeeping System for Geostationary Satellites)

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 개념의 정지위성의 탑재용 자동위치유지 시스템을 제안하고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 그 성능을 분석하였다. 제안된 탑재용 자동위치유지 알고리즘은 지상의 두 지점에 위치한 장비로부터 Pseudo-Range 신호를 수신하여 실시간 궤도결정을 수행한 다음 이를 바탕으로 궤도제어 명령을 생성한다. 탑재용 위치유지 알고리즘의 로직을 최소화하기 위하여 지상 시뮬레이션을 통하여 계산된 기준궤도의 Range 데이터를 시간 태그와 함께 탑재하여 이를 추종하도록 하는 방식을 사용하였다. 궤도제어 알고리즘은 기준궤도의 생성에 사용된 기준 V 와 칼만필터 추정변수의 피드백 제어명령을 동시에 사용하는 방법을 통하여 탑재 알고리즘의 로직을 최소화하였다. 마지막으로 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안된 시스템의 성능을 분석하였다.

방해전파 환경에서 신뢰성을 확보한 효과적 전송기법 구현 (Implementation of reliable transmission technique in jamming environment)

  • 비면허 대역(Unlicensed)을 사용한 최근 무선통신이 증가하고 있으며 사용범위도 점차 넓어지고 있다. 비면허 대역은 통신 장비 간에 간섭을 용인하는 전재조건과 비면허통신 증가로 주파수 중첩과 간섭 현상이 증가하고 있다. 특히 2.4GHz 대역을 사용하는 블루투스, 무선랜, 무선식별 시스템(RFID)의 간섭 현상은 심각해지고 있다. 이러한 환경의 도심지에서는 무선 전송매체 상태가 간섭과 방해전파의 환경이 대부분일 것이다. 방해전파환경에서 효과적 전송을 할 수 있는 방법은 대략 2가지로 생각할 수 있다. 첫 번째는 IEEE 802.11의 RTS/CTS방식이 있고 두 번째로는 프레임 분할(fragmentation)방식이 있다. 본 논문에서는 방해전파 환경에서 일정크기 이상의 프레임을 전송할 경우 무선 환경의 간섭으로 전송이 어려워진다. 이러한 환경에서 신뢰성 전송과 효율적 전송을 하기 위해 프레임을 일정한 작은 단위로 분할하여 전송하여 효과적 전송과 신뢰성을 확보한 프레임분할 전송기법을 구현하여 확인하였다.
