  • The research presented in this paper deals with dynamic stability analysis of the graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) reinforced composite spinning disk. The presented small-scaled structure is simulated as a disk covered by viscoelastic substrate which is two-parametric. The centrifugal and Coriolis impacts due to the spinning are taken into account. The stresses and strains would be obtained using the first-order-shear-deformable-theory (FSDT). For Poisson ratio, as well as various amounts of mass densities, the mixture rule is employed, while a modified Halpin-Tsai model is inserted for achieving the elasticity module. The structure's boundary conditions (BCs) are obtained employing GPLs reinforced composite (GPLRC) spinning disk's governing equations applying principle of Hamilton which is based on minimum energy and ultimately have been solved employing numerical approach called generalized-differential quadrature-method (GDQM). Spinning disk's dynamic properties with different boundary conditions (BCs) are explained due to the curves drawn by Matlab software. Also, the simply-supported boundary conditions is applied to edges 𝜃=𝜋/2, and 𝜃=3𝜋/2, while, cantilever, respectively, is analyzed in R=Ri, and R0. The final results reveal that the GPLs' weight fraction, viscoelastic substrate, various GPLs' pattern, and rotational velocity have a dramatic influence on the amplitude, and vibration behavior of a GPLRC rotating cantilevered disk. As an applicable result in related industries, the spinning velocity impact on the frequency is more effective in the higher radius ratio's amounts.

  • Sandwich sheet with inner structure is expected to find many applications because of high stiffness to mass ratio. In order to simulate forming of sandwich sheet with pyramid core, an effective simulation method is required. Compared to the expensive model using solid elements, cost effective model using simplified elements such as shells and beams is developed. By comparing two models in terms of the cost and accuracy for unit cell deformation, a developed model shows some advantages over the model using solid elements. Evolution of two kind of forming limits, face buckling and core buckling are successfully expressed by developed model. Developed model is also applied in the simulation of square cup drawing and L-type bending. The corresponding experiments are carried out. Deformation shape and wrinkling behavior are compared and discussed. It is found that simulation results using a developed model are in good agreement with experiments.

  • Test application of revegetation measure was made on the roadside slope damaged by Nongseo-Eomo national road improvement project in a bid to prevent the soil from being washed out as well as to restore the ecological environment, and the survey for assessment of the effect of slope revegetation measures was conducted, beginning May 11 through Nov 7, 2006. In the wake of comprehensive reviewing and evaluating the surrounding topographic environment, physical and chemical characteristics of soil, germination of revegetation plants, analysis of bio mass, covering ratio and the plants appeared, measure b was found to have been most appropriate to cut blasting rock slope, and alternatively measure c. For cut ripping rock slope, measure c-1 appeared to be effective in revegetation effect, and alternatively, b-1.When it comes to cut soil slope, measure c-2 was found to be effective, and b-2 to be a good alternative. And for embankment soil slope, measure b-3 appeared to be most efficient in revegetation effect and measure f as alternative.

  • The dynamic stability of a functionally graded polymer microbeam reinforced by graphene oxides subjected to a periodic axial force is investigated. The microbeam is assumed to rest on an elastic substrate and is subjected to various immovable boundary restraints. The weight fraction of graphene oxides nanofillers is graded across the beam thickness. The effective Young's modulus of the functionally graded graphene oxides reinforced composite (FG-GORC) was determined using modified Halpin-Tsai model, with the mixture rule used to evaluate the effective Poisson's ratio and the mass density. An improved third order shear deformation theory (TSDT) is used in conjunction with the Chebyshev polynomial-based Ritz method to derive the Mathieu-Hill equations for dynamic stability of the FG-GORC microbeam, in which the scale effect is taken into account based on modified couple stress theory. Then, the Mathieu-Hill equation was solved using Bolotin's method to predict the principle unstable regions of the FG-GORC microbeams. The numerical results show the effects of the small scale, the graphene oxides nanofillers as well as the elastic substrate on the dynamic stability behaviors of the FG-GORC microbeams.

  • We present a library of high-resolution (R~45,000) and high signal-to-noise ratio ($S/N{\geq}200$) near-infrared spectra of 147 standard stars. High quality spectra were obtained with Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrograph (IGRINS) covering the full range of H ($1.496-1.795{\mu}m$) and K ($2.080-2.460{\mu}m$) bands. The targets are mainly selected as MK standard stars which have well-defined spectral types and luminosity classes, and cover a wide range of effective temperatures and surface gravities. The spectra were corrected for telluric absorption lines and absolute flux calibrated using Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) photometry. We find new spectral indices in H and K bands and provide their EWs. We describe empirical relations between the measured EWs and stellar atmosphere parameters such as effective temperature and surface gravity.

  • Flue gas recirculation (FGR) is a method used to control oxides of nitrogen ($NO_x$) in combustion system. The recirculated flue gases resulted in slow reaction and low flame temperatures, which in turn resulted in decreased thermal NO production. Recently, it has been demonstrated that introducing the recirculated flue gas in the fuel stream, that is, the fuel induced recirculation (FIR), resulted in a much greater reduction in $NO_x$ per unit mass of recirculated gas, as compared to introducing the flue gases in air. In the present study, the effect on $NO_x$ reduction in turbulent swirl flame in laboratory scale using FGR/FIR methods through the dilution using $N_2$ and $CO_2$. Results. show the $CO_2$ dilution is more effective $NO_x$ reduction methods because of large temperature drop due to the larger specific heat $CO_2$ compared to $N_2$. FIR is more effective to reduce $NO_x$ emission than FGR when the same recirculation ratio of dilution gas.

  • Flue gas recirculation (FGR) is widely adopted to control NO emission in combustion systems. Recirculated flue gas decreases flame temperature and reaction rate, resulting in the decrease in thermal NO production. Recently, it has been demonstrated that the recirculated flue gas in fuel stream, that is, the fuel induced recirculation (FIR), could enhance much improved reduction in NO per unit mass of recirculated gas, as compared to conventional FGR in air. In the present study, the effect of dilution methods in air and fuel sides on NO reduction has been investigated numerically by using $N_2$ and $CO_2$ as diluent gases to simulate flue gases. Counterflow diffusion flames were studied in conjunction with the laminar flamelet model of turbulent flames. Results showed that $CO_2$ dilution was more effective in NO reduction because of large temperature drop due to the larger specific heat of $CO_2$ compared to $N_2$. Fuel dilution was more effective in reducing NO emission than air dilution when the same recirculation ratio of dilution gas was used by the increase in the nozzle exit velocity, thereby the stretch rate, with dilution gas added to fuel side.
