교육기관 내 시각장애인 목적지안내 시스템 디자인 연구 (A Study of Way guide System Design for a Visual Handicapped in School)

  • 우리나라의 장애인 복지정책이 자립능력 배양 중심으로 전환되고 있는 시점에서 가장 중요한 것은 교육이라 할 것이다. 시각장애인들의 정보습득과 자립능력을 길러주는 교육기관에서 IT기술을 활용하여 타인의 도움을 받지 않고 안전하게 스스로 목적지를 찾아갈 수 있도록 안내해주는 시스템을 개발하여 교육환경에 제한적인 시각장애인들에게 삶의 질 향상과 독립적 생활인으로서 학교생활의 불편을 개선하고자한다. 본 연구에서는 현대인의 필수품이라 할 수 있는 휴대폰과 RFID태그 및 안테나와 리더를 장착한 흰 지팡이를 이용하여, 학교건물 외부에는 점자 블록과, 건물내부에의 복도 및 통로의 바닥에 심어놓은 RFID태그의 정보를 흰 지팡이로 읽어 휴대폰으로 전송하면 경로를 음성과 진동으로 시각장애인에게 경로에 대한 정보를 제공하여 학교 내에서 안전한 이동을 지원할 수 있다.

Seismic behaviour of RC columns with welded rebars or mechanical splices of reinforcement

  • The extension of existing RC buildings is a challenging process, which requires efficient connection between existing and new materials to guarantee load transferring between the lap-spliced longitudinal columns' reinforcement. Therefore, the length of the columns' starter bars is a crucial factor, which decisively affects the seismic response of the new columns. In particular, when the length of the starter bars is short, then the length of the lap splices of reinforcement is inadequate to ensure load transfer between steel bars and concrete, with an indisputable detrimental impact on the seismic behaviour of the columns. Moreover, in most of the existing RC buildings the column starter bars are of particularly short length, while they have probably been bent, cut or corroded. In the present study, the effectiveness of both welded rebar and mechanical splices of reinforcement in ensuring load transferring between the starter bars and the longitudinal reinforcement of the new column was experimentally evaluated. Four cantilever column subassemblages were constructed and subjected to earthquake-type loading. Three of the specimens were used to examine different types of shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), while in the fourth subassemblage mechanical splices were tested. The hysteretic response of the columns was evaluated and compared to the behaviour of a fifth specimen with continuous reinforcement, tested by Kalogeropoulos and Tsonos (2019). Test results clearly demonstrated that the examined types of SMAW were equally satisfactory in ensuring the ductile seismic performance of the columns, while the mechanical splices found to be more susceptible to exhibit slipping of the bars.

국내 근대 학교건축에서의 대학고딕 양식의 수용 (Accommodating the Collegiate Gothic Style in Modern School Buildings of Korea)

  • In modern Korean architecture, some of school buildings have been referred to as Tudor Gothic style by its design elements. But, to be more exact in detail, they have to be interpreted as a Collegiate Gothic style that has occurred in the United States since the mid-19th century. Therefore, this study explains the progress of Collegiate Gothic style in the United States through the literature published since the 19th century, and examines the adoptation process of Korea. In addition, this thesis analyzes the characteristics of American Collegiate Gothic style and the elements of Collegiate Gothic style universally adopted in Korea, and then attempts a new interpretation on the representative Collegiate Gothic architecture in Korea. The results of this research are as follows. The Collegiate Gothic style in the United States caused by the change of educational environment in the 19th century was accepted for religious purposes by foreign architects such as Henry K. Murphy and W. Vories, and was also accepted by domestic architects who were directly influenced by Western architecture such as Park, Dong-jin. In addition, the accepted Collegiate Gothic style shows common features not only in the decoration of Tudor Gothic but also in the material and compositional aspects such as the quadrangle plans and the rock-faced exterior facades. From the point of view of the Collegiate Gothic style then in vogue at many schools and universities, further researches will be needed to interpret modern school architectures in Korea.

교육시설물의 전기에너지 사용량에 따른 운영예산 관리방안 (Operating Budget Management Plan on Electric Energy Consumption of Educational Facilities)

  • 1997년 제7차 교육과정이 개정됨에 따라, 건축물의 형태 변화를 통해 매년 교육시설물의 꾸준한 에너지 사용량 증가로 이어지고 있다. 교육시설에서는 운영예산 산출 시에 수년간 지출실적, 전기요금 단가 인상 등을 고려하여 예산을 산정한다. 이러한 예산산출 방식을 통해 적절하지 않은 운영비의 배분이 이루어져 예산계획 수립에 부정적인 영향을 줄 수 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 교육시설물의 전기에너지 사용량에 따른 운영예산 관리방안 제안을 위해 교육시설물의 전기에너지 사용량 관리모델을 개발하였다. 모델개발을 위해 문헌고찰과 교육시설물의 특성을 고려하여 전기에너지 관련 환경, 물리, 정책 요인별 1차 핵심변수를 도출하였으며, 상관분석을 통해 2차 핵심변수를 도출하였다. 도출된 2차 핵심변수를 기반으로 회귀분석을 실시하여 전기에너지 사용량 관리모델을 개발하고, 이를 활용한 관리방안을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 관리모델은 각 요인의 변화에 따른 유동적인 운영예산 산출근거로서 활용될 수 있다.

뉴욕시 공립학교에 나타난 배치 특성에 관한 연구 - 맨하튼 가로체계와 외부공간의 관계를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Layout Patterns of Public Schools in Manhattan - Focused on Relationship between Manhattan Grid Plan and Open Space -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze patterns of public school building layout types, open space and relationship with communities in the Manhattan grid plan. The study illustrates how building layout patterns of school facilities are influenced by societal demands in the urban grid environment. During the nineteenth century, the Island of Manhattan was transformed into a physical representation of the Cartesian coordinate system via the development of the grid street plan. In order to take advantage of streets as urban space, it is quite important to understand characteristics of communities and open space relationships between buildings and streets. Moreover, the strategic planning of schools' outdoor space vitalizes public streets as a critical community anchor. This research reviews 118 Manhattan public schools and categorizes them by (1) building layout type, (2) site type, (3) circulation and public open space, which are the biggest factors that determine the layout patterns of the public schools in Manhattan. As a result of analysis, the layout patterns are classified into seven types : "ㅡ", "L", "ㄷ", "ㅁ", "H", "T" and "other" type. Of these, "ㅡ" type and "L" type occur most frequently, because these configurations most flexibly fit into the limited grid-locked blocks, the various types of site & topography, and adapt most dynamically to the open spaces created by using avenues and streets. The ultimate objective of this study is to provide a case study for future efforts to plan open spaces for campuses that effectively utilize the streets in proximity.

사례연구를 통한 DSC에 의한 BIPV 가능성 분석 연구 (Analyzing the Possibility of the Building Integrated Photovoltaic with DSC by the Case Studies)

  • 건물에너지 자립과 온실가스 배출 저감에 BIPV 역할이 증대되는 가운데 기존 결정계의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 DSC의 적용이 주목받고 있다. 특히 DSC의 다양한 색상과 투명성 그리고 방향에 무관한 작동성은 모듈의 다기능 복합재로서 BIPV폭을 크게 확장시킨다. 이에 사례조사 분석을 통해 DSC BIPV의 가능성을 살펴보고 그 활용성을 조망한다. 국 내외 각 3건씩의 사례 조사 분석을 통해 나타난 대부분의 DSC BIPV는 주로 창호와 차양 장치로 구현되고 있고 이는 DSC의 특성과 무관치 않다. 즉, 다양한 색상과 투명성의 모듈은 건물 외피디자인과 에너지 획득에 커다란 전환점을 마련하고 있는 것으로 파악된다. 한편으로는 적용모듈의 색상으로 인한 눈의 자극성이 존재하여 BIPV 창호적용에는 건물 및 실의 용도에 따른 색감 고려가 필수적이고 건물외피 적용을 위한 유연한 모듈개발의 경우 DSC BIPV는 상당히 기대되는 확산성을 가질 것이다.

학교시설의 그린리모델링을 위한 디자인지표 개발 및 사용자참여설계 활용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Design Indicator and User Participation Design for Green Remodeling of School Facilitiess)

  • This study has developed a design indicator required to promote green remodeling in school facilities. And, implemented the green remodeling pilot test on the school facilities that are planning actual remodeling. This pilot test suggested user participation design methodology such as verification of the developed design indicator, design goal setting, evaluation and adjustment of design proposal. The Green Remodeling Design Indicators were classified into 3 large categories of architectural performance, usability, and design through analysis of cases related to 'green buildings' and 'remodeling'. We have developed nine middle categories such as architectural and structural performance, facility performance, environmentally-friendly, circulation, space, amenity, harmony with surroundings, form and symbolization. In addition, 42 detailed indicators were developed for each category, including general, functional, and special indicators. For the verification of this study, two green remodeling design workshops were conducted for Gwangju J elementary school. The first design workshop presented the importance of the design indicator and set the goal of the design plan of green remodeling for project. And, the second Workshop presented the evaluation of the satisfaction with the design and the direction of future adjustment for project. The design indicator developed in this study can be utilized as a design indicator of design quality management and decision system for the school green remodeling in the future. In addition, by accumulating information on the Green Remodeling Project, it is necessary to spread green remodeling and construct a sustainable building environment.

Effects of Students' Perceived Safety of Public Outdoor Environment on Academic Achievement at University Campus

  • The physical environment can dramatically affect students' feeling and their behavior, educational attainment, and the way in which we do school activities. Unlimited access to campus areas without appropriate securities have reported an increase of crime in school area and safety issues has encouraged school facility planners to install securities devices at every corner of buildings. However, it is still questionable whether this approach is enough to protect students and staffs from the victimization of crime, including thefts, burglaries and sexual offences. There has been continued doubt about the safety of educational facilities where individual college students are studying and enjoying extra-curricular activities. Therefore, the purpose of this study is intended to investigate the effects of perception of safety by students on the level of academic performance at public outdoor environment of university campus. An extensive literature noted that the central element of modern school design principle mainly holds the theory of crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) and the concept of defensible space. The second generation of CPTED also focused on social soft issues as well as situational factors, which extends beyond mere physical design to include social factors. The correlation analysis found that the effect of sense of safety does appear to be statistically significant on the facilitation of academic achievement. However, the analysis of Chi-square concluded that the perception of safety was not related to demographic and socio-economic profiles of the group except for gender. Further, stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most prime predictor for academic achievement were 'safe public outdoor space/paths' at university campus environment, implying careful design of public open space and sidewalks based on the guideline of CPTED. The study also demonstrated that as the level of positive perception of safety rose, the overall academic achievement also responded to the specified rate (${\beta}=.99$). Finally, the findings reinforce an evidence that high-quality school environments are a positive factor in student academic performance.

학교(學校) 교실(敎室)의 실내환경(室內環境) 실태(實態) 조사(調査) 연구(硏究) - 서울시 한성여중.고교(漢城女中.高校) 사례(事例)를 중심(中心)으로 - (Field Study on the Classroom Environment at School - Case study of Hansung Girls' Middle & High School In Seoul City -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the environmental characteristics of Hansung Girls' Middle & High School located on the northern slope of Mt. Naksan in Seoul but sited at different aspects. The measured temperature and illumination in March, July and December were analysed. The proportion of window size and questionaries were used also. The results of observation are as follows: (1) The temperature of the southward classrooms was $3.6^{\circ}C$ higher than eastward or westward classrooms in March, but the difference of the both values in July were only $0.3^{\circ}C$ in the average. (2) The temperatures in December decreased in the order of aspects: southward, westward and eastward. (3) The highest values for illumination appeared in the classroom faced to the south and the values decreased from westward to eastward. (4) Temperatures and illumination were varied not only with the aspect but also with the number of story and the proportion of the window size. However, the heating facilities and illuminators are installed evenly without considering the condition of the buildings. The heating facilities should be installed differently according to the direction and height of the story of the building. The heating facilities should be installed sparsely for the classrooms faced southward, and more densely near the hallway side to achieve satisfaction of students and to save expenses of heating. It will be better that electric power switches for window side have to be set separately from hallway side. Improvement of the condition of illumination and temperatures will help students to promote their health and learning.

학교시설의 장애물 없는 생활환경(BF) 인증기준 평가지표 개선방향에 관한 연구 - 우수시설학교를 대상으로 - (A Study on improving Direction of the Barrier-Free Certification Evaluation Item of School Facilities)

  • 본 연구는 학교시설의 장애물 없는 생활환경(BF)인증이 의무화됨에 따라 학교시설에 대한 장애물 없는 생활환경(BF)인증 평가지표에 대한 기초연구로, 장애물 없는 생활환경(BF)인증 평가지표를 바탕으로 학교시설의 편의시설 설치현황을 조사 및 분석하여 학교시설에 적합한 장애물 없는 생활환경(BF)인증 평가지표의 개선방향성을 모색하고자 하였다. 우수시설학교로 선정된 조사대상학교의 편의시설 중 매개시설, 내부시설의 현황과 장애물 없는 생활환경(BF)인증 평가지표를 비교분석한 결과, 배점획득항목에 따라 학교시설에 기 반영되어진 항목과 중 하위 배점 기준으로 최소로 반영되어지는 항목으로 분류될 수 있었으며, 기 반영되는 항목은 배점기준의 변별력이 다소 미흡하여 배점 기준 등의 개선이 필요하다. 누구나 이용하기 편리한 학교시설을 위해 중 하위 배점을 획득하는 항목에 대해 기준개선 및 배점 조정으로 질적 향상을 이끌어내야 한다.
