  • Traditional programming education lacked consideration of contents, methods and learners. In particular, the importance of programming education has been decreased in school because almost no suitable teaching has been executed for elementary school students. To solve these problems, this study proposed the use of MINDSTORMS that is a programming education tool suitable for elementary school students, and verified its effects on learners' creativity. The results of this study show that the tool is highly effective in improving students' creativity. The objectives of programming education are not only learning programming languages but also improving problem-solving ability, logical thinking and creativity. We must offer environment, in which students can control their own learning activity and solve problems by themselves. In addition, MINDSTORMS can be a very useful and suitable tool for programming education.

A Multi-Modal Complex Motion Authoring Tool for Creating Robot Contents

  • This paper proposes a multi-modal complex motion authoring tool for creating robot contents. The proposed tool is user-friendly and allows general users without much knowledge about robots, including children, women and the elderly, to easily edit and modify robot contents. Furthermore, the tool uses multi-modal data including graphic motion, voice and music to simulate user-created robot contents in the 3D virtual environment. This allows the user to not only view the authoring process in real time but also transmit the final authored contents to control the robot. The validity of the proposed tool was examined based on simulations using the authored multi-modal complex motion robot contents as well as experiments of actual robot motions.

  • The 2015 revised national curriculum includes SW courses to improve computational thinking, and a variety of physical computing tools for learning are on sale for use in education. The purpose of this study is to provide a basis for selecting physical computing tool for learning suitable for learning situations and learning purposes, and to provide a reasonable basis for judging the choice of tools in the field. Delphi survey method was used as a reference method for developing evaluation criteria through 25 expert panels. As a result, the criterion of evaluation of the learning tool composed of 40 essential and 11 selection criteria for 7 domains was presented. In addition, the evaluation results of five kinds of learning tools commercialized through the evaluation criteria of the learning tool were analyzed. The evaluation criteria for the learning tools developed through this study are expected to help teachers select rational learning tools and help learning tool developers develop learning tools.

  • The effect of particle sizes of the metal matrix composites containing 10 wt.%SiCp was investigated with using various tools. The results showed that tool life decreased considerably with increasing particle size and cutting speed. The wear resistance of TiC-coated tools was considerably higher than that of the other tools. It was observed that abrasive wear was the main responsible mechanism for wear of the tool thermal cracks were at high speed while a built-edge formation was also evident at lower speed.

A Study on Practical Engineering Model for Tool Temperature Control (금형온도제어에 대한 실천공학모형 연구)

  • In injection molding, the tool temperature has a great influence on the quality of the molded article. The appropriate temperature is determined by the molding material and the quality required for the molded part, and the important point is that the temperature should be stable. First, the tool temperature should be set in accordance with the quality required by the molded article within the range of the tool temperature conditions suitable for the material. That is, the tool temperature changes depending on the importance of the surface gloss of the molded article, shortening of the molding cycle, prevention of deformation, degree of shrinkage, ease of resin flow and the like. In order to improve practical tool technology, we propose a training model of the difficult process of tool temperature control which can be utilized in industry that design and manufacture injection mold.

Understanding of the trigonometric function using Maple (Maple을 이용한 삼각함수의 이해)

  • Since the computer is becoming more and more indispensible tool in every fields of the modern society, it is needed and desirable to utilize the computer as a basic tool from the very early stage of the education process. Recently Maple is gaining its popularity as a comprehensive mathematical software with its power of symbolic calculations and graphics as well as its great numerical computational ability. We demonstrate the suitability of this software as a tool for the mathematical education and presents several examples of the applications of Maple. For the middle and the high school mathematics courses, we give the application examples for the quadratic functions and their graphs, statistics, the three dimensional shapes, algebraic problems. Through the examples, we confirm that mathematical education can be much more effective and simple by using Maple. If we establish computer-assisted mathematical classes, we can draw more attention and excitement from the attendants than traditional classes and eventually improve more rapidly their problem-solving ability On the other hand, the excess of the computer-aided education give to obstacle of psychological, not to be passing over the fact.

  • This paper designs RDL/PAL interface and performance monitoring tool with providing the Event Expressions. RDL/PAL suggests interface of instrumentation layer and performance analysis layer so that it can extract event data from various trace formats. Also, the Event Expressions is similar to the normal program language, which make possible to obtain result of performance analysis. The programmer can analyze performance regardless of trace format by using the performance monitoring tool which has so much merits.

  • This paper proposed new approach for the information gifted discrimination test usign EPL. We tried to distinguish high level thinking in the information gifted through test of this study. We designed discrimination test by the features of EPL and developed testing item tool like single-sprit and multi-sprite. These items are divided into adding block, changing the block order, modifying value io block, and changing a block. We designed this testing tool that the elementary students can solve items without an experience on learning programming language. We expect the testing tool io proposed this study will help to discriminate the information gifted effectively.

The Development of a Measurement Tool for Educational Satisfaction of Sport Ethics Program (스포츠윤리교육 프로그램의 교육만족도 측정도구 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a measurement tool for education satisfaction of sport ethics program and to verify its validity. To achieve this goal, 3 steps of experimental processes were carried out. In the first step, the pilot questionnaires was created on the basis of previous researches regarding sport ethics education, education satisfaction, and response assessment. In the second process, as a pilot survey step, construct validity was obtained through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis of the measure constructed by the first process. In the third process, as a main survey step, external validity was obtained through difference verification, then questionnaires were constructed based on the analyzed contents. As a result of these steps, a measurement tool for educational satisfaction of sport ethics program composed of 17 questionnaires was developed. It consists of education contents (6), instructor competency (5), and education effect (6).

  • This study aims to specify a constructivism-based instructional method using a modular data analysis tool. The value and meaning of a modular data analysis tool have been examined to be applied in the national curriculum for artificial intelligence education and the process of cultivating problem-solving ability based on computational thinking. The modular data analysis tool visually expresses the cognitive thinking process that forms the schema in equilibrating through assimilation and adjustment. Artificial intelligence education has features that embody abstract knowledge and structure the data analysis module through the represented schema as a BlackBox implemented as an algorithm. Therefore, the value of the modular data analysis tool could be examined because it has the advantage of connecting the conceptual and implicit schema.
