An Analysis of t he Uses of EBS Lectures for the CSAT and the Reducing Effects of Private Educational Expenditures (EBS 수능강의 활용 실태 및 사교육비 억제 효과 분석)

  • In this study, we conducted a survey on 12,000 parents of general high school students to analyze the users of EBS lectures the CSAT(College Scholastic Ability Test) and the reducing effect of private educational expenditures. Most of parents encouraged their children to study the EBS lectures, and actually the students listened to the EBS lectures. Also, there were a lot of suggestions which the EBS lectures helped to reduce private educational expenditures. 25% of whole respondent was reduced their private education expense, and 65% of them answered that educational opportunities were provided uniformly by the EBS lectures. Finally many of them opposed to the monetization of EBS lectures with internet.

Survey and Analysis on Computer Using Ability of Early Childhood for Developing Educational Software (교육용 소프트웨어 개발을 위한 영유아 컴퓨터 활용 능력에 대한 실태조사 분석)

  • In this study, a survey was carried out to investigate status of children's computer use and their ability by gender and age. The objects of the survey were kids at a day care center in Gimpo where students of the early childhood education department of K university had practical training for a month. 378 questionnaire were collected excepting those with insincere or inconsistent responses, and among them, According to the results of this study, girls use computers more often than boys for educational purposes such as learning how to read and write Korean language and numbers and foreign languages, and also learning music and arts. On the other hand, boys use computers more often than girls for entertainment like cartoon movies and games. In terms of computer using ability such as understanding instructions, manipulation of functions, drawing pictures, chatting and e-mail, internet shopping, homepage making, girls have higher ability than boys while boys are significantly superior to girls in the ability to play computer games. The analytical results show that application programs of the childhood education is desirable for boys to use for the sake of arousing the interest and for the game and for girls to use at the part of music and arts. According to ages, for 1-2 years children, they needs the AP with a delicate person having the computer knowledge, for 3-4 years children, they need AP with some little help, for 6-7 years, they need the AP to do themselves according to sex and age.

Time-aware Item-based Collaborative Filtering with Similarity Integration

  • In the era of information overload on the Internet, the recommendation system, which is an indispensable function, is a service that recommends products that a user may prefer, and has been successfully provided in various commercial sites. Recently, studies to reflect the rating time of items to improve the performance of collaborative filtering, a representative recommendation technique, are active. The core idea of these studies is to generate the recommendation list by giving an exponentially lower weight to the items rated in the past. However, this has a disadvantage in that a time function is uniformly applied to all items without considering changes in users' preferences according to the characteristics of the items. In this study, we propose a time-aware collaborative filtering technique from a completely different point of view by developing a new similarity measure that integrates the change in similarity values between items over time into a weighted sum. As a result of the experiment, the prediction performance and recommendation performance of the proposed method were significantly superior to the existing representative time aware methods and traditional methods.

  • Since IT technology grow rapidly, our ethic of consciousness has become big issue with adverse effect. Many scholar has discussed and tired to solve this problem, but it is still helpless to fix. Therefor in this paper, author will not suggest the solution, but will present model list of adverse effects and cases to prevent accidents. The model list of adverse effects, what author will present is about media addiction, harmful content, cyber-violence, right infringement, cyber terror and decision obstacle. This model list is made by primary and secondary survey. This model will show adverse effect of present day, but also will show future adverse effects that can be prevent. Through out this paper, this model list could use for education plan.

Education, certification system and extent of duty in dental hygienists of developed countries (일부 선진국 치과위생사의 교육제도, 자격인증제도 및 업무범위)

  • Objectives : The purpose of the study is to investigate the education, certification system, and extent of duty of dental hygienist between Korea and five developed countries including United States, Canada, England, Australia, and Japan. Methods : Internet based access to five developed countries was made and the analysis was done for the definition of occupation, main duties, similar occupations, education policy, job descriptions, license certification system, standards of duty, Q & A management, current status of obtaining certification, and scope of work. Results : United States has a two-year associate degree(AS) and a four-year bachelor degree(BS). Canada has two to three years degree and a two-year course is accepted in england and Australia. In the meanwhile, Korea and Japan have two-year and four-year educational courses. The duty of dental hygienists includes the prevention education for dental health and continuing dental health care. Most of the dental hygienists in Korea and Japan play the assistant roles for the dental surgeons. United States has national board examinations including written examinations, practical examinations, and computer assisted examination. Written and practical examinations are also conducted in Korea. England and Australia have the recognized educational organizations for qualification. Conclusions : Problem based and problem solving skills are the most important in dental hygienist education in Korea. The training of highly competent dental hygienists must be done for the improvement of dental hygiene in Korea in the near future.

Research on Middle School and High School Teachers′Awareness of Instructional Media on Clothing and Textiles Education (중.고등학교에 재직하고 있는 교사의 의생활 수업매체에 대한 의식 조사)

  • This research aims to obtain basic information on the present situation of the instructional media on clothing and textiles education, in middle and high schools. It also strives to get various information needed in order to improve educational environments and teaching methods. The targets of this survey were 225 teachers who teach home economics at middle and high schools in Taejeon, Choongchungnamdo and Junrabookdo. I made up questions their awareness about the instructional media on clothing and textiles education, the educational circumstances of their schools having to do with new media, and their real educational goal. Methods such 3s frequency, percentage, and Chi-square(${\chi}^2$)(statistical significance of differences between variables) were used to research the differences of awareness on using instructional media, according to teachers'various characters, were checked using the SPSS WIN computer program. The results of this research were as fellows; 1. They thought content on the management and the materials of clothing were the ones that need to be developed, compared to other content having to do with the curriculum on clothing and textile education. 2. The real things tuned out to be the molt useful and effective. So the most frequently used media was the Over Head Projector. Also, the teachers expressed in general that they wished to increase the use of computers in order to teach more efficiently. 3. We knew the teachers had little knowledge on the software developed for clothing and textiles education. The infrastructures for educating the using of clothing and textiles, using computers and the internet, were very poor in most schools. The new curriculum that has been proposed needs a more enlarged investment in order for it to function properly and effectively.

Analysis technique to support personalized English education based on contents (맞춤형 영어 교육을 지원하기 위한 콘텐츠 기반 분석 기법)

  • As Internet and mobile technology is developing, the educational environment is changing from the traditional passive way into an active one driven by learners. It is important to construct the proper learner's profile for personalized education where learners are able to study according to their learning levels. The existing studies on ICT-based personalized education have mostly focused on vocabulary and learning contents. In this paper, learning profile is constructed with not only vocabulary but grammar to define a learner's learning status in more detailed way. A proficiency metric is defined which shows how a learner is accustomed to the learning contents. The simulational results present the suggested approach is effective to the evaluation essay data with each learner's proficiency that is determined after pre-learning process. Additionally, the proposed analysis technique enables to provide statistics or graphs of the learner's status and necessary data for the learner's learning contents.

Study on the mechanism for the dynamic traversing of multiple firewalls using the concept of one-time master key (일회용 마스터 키 개념을 이용한 다중 방화벽 동적 통과 메커니즘 연구)

  • If an exterior computer wants to join the Grid/cloud computing platform for a while, all of the related firewalls' filtering rule should be immediately updated. As the platform of Internet application is gradually evolving into the Grid/Cloud environment, the R&D requirement for the dynamic traversing of the multiple firewalls by a single try is also increasing. In this paper, we introduce the new mechanism for the dynamic traversing of the multiple firewalls using the concept of the one-time master key that can dynamically unlock the tiers of firewalls simultaneously instead of the existed filtering rule based method like a lock management at each firewall. The proposed master keys are like one-time password, consisted of IP addresses, port numbers, and TCP's initial sequence numbers, and generated by end users not administrators. They're exchanged mutually in advance and used to make a hole at local-side firewalls for the other's packet incoming. Therefore, the proposed mechanism can function regardless of the number or type of firewalls.

A Study on Dietary Intake and Vitamin and Mineral Supplement Use by Korean College Students Attending Web Class

  • The Purpose of this study was to investigate the dietary intake of nutrients and the use of vitamin and mineral supplements by Korean college students attending Web class and the socioeconomic, dietary and health-related factors involved. The subjects were 137 male and 115 female students amending a health and nutrition-related Web class at a cycler university. This cross-sectional survey was conducted by self-administered questionnaire and the data were analyzed by SAS and SPSS PC package programs. Nutrient intake data collected using three-day recall method were analyzed by the Computer Aided Nutritional Analysis Program. Average intake by male students of most nutrients except energy, vitamin B$_2$ and calcium and intake by female students of those except energy, vitamin $B_2$, calcium and iron was higher than Korean RDA. Nutrient intake of male students was significantly influenced by the mother s job, skipping meals, exercise, vitamin and mineral supplement use, flood supplement use and self-evaluated anemia. Skipping meals and flood supplement use significantly influenced the nutrient intake of female students. A total of 47.4% of male students and 53.9% of female students were vitamin and mineral supplement users. In female students, socioeconomic characteristics such as the father s education level and household income were significantly different between vitamin and mineral supplement users and non-users. In both male and female students, there were significant differences in cross analysis between vitamin and mineral supplement use and flood supplement use. As for the self-reported health status of male and female students, vitamin and mineral supplement users perceived their health status to be worse compared to non-users. Therefore, nutrition education via the Internet is necessary in order to encourage college students to practice optimal nutrition strategies, including maintaining well-balanced diets by choosing various floods wisely.

  • Artificial intelligence, which is developing as the core of an intelligent information society, is bringing convenience and positive life changes to humans. However, with the development of artificial intelligence, human rights and property are threatened, and ethical problems are increasing, so alternatives are needed accordingly. In this study, the most controversial artificial intelligence ethics problem in the dysfunction of artificial intelligence was aimed at researching and developing artificial intelligence ethical measurement indicators to protect human personality rights and property first under artificial intelligence ethical principles and components. In order to research and develop artificial intelligence ethics measurement indicators, various related literature, focus group interview(FGI), and Delphi surveys were conducted to derive 43 items of ethics measurement indicators. By survey and statistical analysis, 40 items of artificial intelligence ethics measurement indicators were confirmed and proposed through descriptive statistics analysis, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis for ethical measurement indicators. The proposed artificial intelligence ethics measurement indicators can be used for artificial intelligence design, development, education, authentication, operation, and standardization, and can contribute to the development of safe and reliable artificial intelligence.
