The purpose of this study was to investigate biomechanical differences between young and old adults during downhill walking on a treadmill in order to understand the mechanisms of elderly falls. Eighteen healthy young females(YG: yrs: 21.17±1.5) and eighteen healthy old females(OG: yrs: 66.67±1.33) participated in this study. They were asked to walk at their preferred speed on a treadmill at level, 7.5° and 15° decline. OG walked more wobbly in the medial and lateral directions than YG(p<.05). As slope got steeper, OG had smaller ROM(range of motion) of ankle and knee joints compared with YG. However, there was no difference in ROM of the hip between OG and YG, but maximum extension angle of OG was smaller compared with YG(p<.05). Smaller extensor moment was generated on OG during downhill walking(p<.05). It was hypothesized that more risk factors would be found on older people compared to young people during downhill. However, older people actually walks with a safer strategy compared to young people during downhill. Finally, current findings about biomechanical characteristics of elderly walking would provide useful fundamental information for a follow-up study regarding the prevention of elderly fall during their daily life.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the convergence effects of the experience of adult preventive care on the treatment satisfaction and the dental fear, and the survey was conducted from January to April 2017 for 292 adults of aged 20 years or older living in the metropolitan area. The collected data were subjected to $x^2-test$, t-test and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 22.0 program. Fluoride application was the most prevalent experience of adult preventive treatment, and the satisfaction level of the treatment was high in case of fluoride application was experienced. On the other hand, dental fear was lower if preventive scaling was experienced. As a result of multiple regression analysis, variables affecting patient satisfaction were experience of fluoride application, and the variables affecting dental fear level were oral health condition and preventive scaling experience. The result of this study was confirmed that the satisfaction level of treatment was increased and the dental fear was lowered. Therefore, improvement of oral health promotion can be expected by recognizing of the importance of preventive treatment and providing of the dental preventive service through oral health education.
To survey the present status of the gerontological nursing course at three year diploma programs, baccalaureate degree programs(BSN), and graduate programs in Korea, and to analyze the contents of the syllabus and gerontological nursing textbooks to provide the basic data in developing a standard model for gerontological nursing curriculum. Method: Data was collected from all the nursing programs in Korea from Nov. 2000 to Feb. 2001 by mail and fax. Result: The gerontological nursing courses has been offered 36 diploma program, 40 BSN, and 17 graduate programs. And the credits of the gerontological nursing course offered by the program were as follows : one credit (10 diploma and 8 BSN), two credits (22 diploma and 29 BSN), and three credits (1 BSN). The contents of curri- culum were analyzed by comparing the core curriculum of NGNA. The majority of the schools included Gerontological Nursing in General, Theory of Aging, Aging Processes, Care Plan Options, and Common Health Problems. The subjects which very few school cover are Legal/ Ethical Issues, Evaluation, Regulatory & Reimbursement Issues, Education Issues, Nursing Research in Gerontology, and Environmental Issues of Older Adults. There were some differences in these results among diploma courses, BSNs, and graduate schools. The gerontological nursing textbooks contained similar contents to those of the diploma and the baccalaureate programs.
The purpose of this study was to analyze factors affecting the health behaviors and urinary tract tests of adults and their effects on periodontitis by using raw data from the 6th National Health and Nutrition Survey (1st, 2nd, 3rd year). The subjects were 40 years older who had oral examination and urine tests such as glycosuria and ketonuris. The final 11,036 subjects were analyzed using SPSS. ${\chi}^2-test$ and logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the demographic characteristics, health behaviors, and differences in urine levels and presence or absence of periodontitis. There was statistically significant difference between the urine test values and the incidence of periodontal disease in urine glucose and proteinuria. Risk factors were male, age, income and education level, rural, smoking, obesity, urine glucose. These results suggest that improvement of health behavior and aggressive management of systemic disease factors are necessary and development of management and preventive program of Periodontitis is necessary.
This study was conducted on 2,380 people aged 40-64 years old among the subjects of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2021, the 3rd year of the 8th period. In order to identify factors influencing disease morbidity and health-related quality of life according to household type, general characteristics, diseases, etc. Morbidity and physical factors were compared and analyzed. The data were analyzed after creating a weighted complex sample plan file using the spss 25.0 program, and the significance level was set at .05. As a result of the analysis, factors affecting single-person households were education level, restrictions of activity, and depression, and factors affecting multi-person households were gender, smoking, restrictions of activity, dyslipidemia, and depression. Subjective health status showed a positive correlation with health-related quality of life, and anxiety and stress showed a negative correlation. Based on the results of this study, It is that propose individual quality-of-life improvement interventions that take into account each influencing factor for each household type.

This study was designed to estimate the prevalence of arthritis and to identify subgroups with high prevalence rates of arthritis. Study subjects were 18,406 Korean adults aged 19 and more from the 4th (2007-2009) Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys data. Annual self-reported prevalence and its rate ratios by demographic and behavioral factors were calculated using SAS 9.2 with survey procedure. The result was as follows. The crude prevalence of arthritis was 11.7% (osteoarthritis 10.2% and rheumatoid arthritis 1.7%). The prevalence was increased by age strata (2.4% in 19-44 aged, 16.4% in 45-64, 38.3% in 65 and more). After adjusting for age, we found the subgroups with high prevalence: older people, women, residents in non-apartment area, separated and divorced people, people with low education, people with several occupations (agricultural and fishery workers, elementary occupations, and unemployed), people with low household incomes, people with medical aid, and people with higher BMI. Those subgroups may be target populations in community health programs to control the disability from arthritis.

This study tried to investigate the effects of the adaptation of middle-aged and elderly adult learners to college life on happiness. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey and analysis were conducted on 321 middle-aged and older adults studying at two-year and four-year colleges in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province, and the results are as follows. First, college life adaptation according to the general characteristics of middle-aged and elderly learners are higher for those in their 50s and 2nd grade in good health condition. Happiness was the highest women, 60s and those in the form of households where only couples live. Second, there is a static correlation between the adaptation of middle-aged and elderly adult learners to college life and happiness, and the correlation between satisfaction with internal growth and satisfaction with meaning was the highest. Third, it was found that middle-aged and elderly adults' adaptation to college life influenced happiness, and the adaptation to adult student relationships, which is the lower part of the adaptation to college life, had the greatest impact on happiness. The above research results suggest that the various positive experiences experienced in university life can affect happiness by easing student relationships, psychological stability, and physical tension, and improving one's own satisfaction with internal growth.
Purpose: Several studies have been conducted on the relationship between green tea intake and metabolic syndrome. However, compared to the studies carried out internationally, there is inadequate research on the relationship between domestic green tea consumption and metabolic syndrome. Therefore, in this study, the general characteristics of Koreans according to their green tea intake and its association with metabolic syndrome were examined. Methods: A total of 44,611 subjects were included in the study, and analysis was carried out using data from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES) for Korean adults aged 40 or older. Green tea consumption was estimated using 106 verified food frequency questionnaires (FFQ). Metabolic syndrome was defined using the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III (NCEP-ATP III) parameters. After adjusting for confounding variables by performing a Cox regression analysis, the association between green tea consumption and metabolic syndrome was confirmed through the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: The average incidence of metabolic syndrome was 18.7% (20.8% in men and 17.8% in women). Compared to those who drank almost no green tea, in subject groups consuming more than one cup of green tea a day, the metabolic syndrome incidence was significantly reduced by 15% (HR, 0.85; 95% CI, 0.74-0.96; p trend = 0.0200) among men and by 19% (HR, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.73-0.90; p trend < 0.0001) among women. In addition, the biomarkers related to metabolic syndrome also tended to decrease overall in these groups. Conclusion: This study concluded that as the intake of green tea increased, the incidence of metabolic syndrome and related indicators decreased. Therefore, green tea intake is believed to have a positive effect on the prevention and management of the metabolic syndrome.
