An Optimal Video Editing Method using Frame Information Pre-Processing (프레임 정보 전처리를 활용한 최적 영상 편집 방법)

  • We can cut and paste portions of MPEG coded bitstream efficiently to rearrange the audio and video sequences using our proposed method. The proposed method decodes the MPEG stream within just only one GOP(Group of Picture), edits the decoded video frames, and encodes it back to a MPEG stream. In this method, precise editing is possible. A pre-processing step is specially designed to provide easy cut and paste processing. In the pre-processing step for editing MPEG streams, the detail information is extracted. In addition, video quality is not degraded after the proposed editing process is applied. Consequently, the experimental results show significant improvements compared with traditional algorithms for video editing method in terms of the efficiency and exactness.

  • Deamination of adenine or cytosine in RNA, called RNA editing, is a constitutively active and common modification. The primary role of RNA editing is tagging RNA right after its synthesis so that the endogenous RNA is recognized as self and distinguished from exogenous RNA, such as viral RNA. In addition to this primary function, the direct or indirect effects on gene expression can be utilized in cancer where a high level of RNA editing activity persists. This report identified actin-related protein 2/3 complex inhibitor (ARPIN) as a target of ADAR1 in breast cancer cells. Our comparative RNA sequencing analysis in MCF7 cells revealed that the expression of ARPIN was decreased upon ADAR1 depletion with altered editing on its 3'UTR. However, the expression changes of ARPIN were not dependent on 3'UTR editing but relied on three microRNAs acting on ARPIN. As a result, we found that the migration and invasion of cancer cells were profoundly increased by ADAR1 depletion, and this cellular phenotype was reversed by the exogenous ARPIN expression. Altogether, our data suggest that ADAR1 suppresses breast cancer cell mobility via the upregulation of ARPIN.

  • Video content is divided into long-form video content and short-form video content according to the length. Long form video content is created with a length of 15 minutes or longer, and all frames of the captured video are included without editing. Short-form video content can be edited to a shorter length from 1 minute to 15 minutes, and only some frames from the frames of the captured video. Due to the recent growth of the single-person broadcasting market, the demand for short-form video content to increase viewers is increasing. Therefore, there is a need for research on content editing technology for editing and generating short-form video content. This study studies the technology to create short-form videos of main scenes by capturing images, voices, and motions. Short-form videos of key scenes use a pre-trained highlight extraction model through machine learning. An automatic video editing system and method for automatically generating a highlight video is a core technology of short-form video content. Machine learning-based automatic video editing method and system research will contribute to competitive content activities by reducing the effort and cost and time invested by single creators for video editing

  • Gene-editing is currently one of the most popular technologies in recent years. Development of the new crop using the gene editing have advantage of improved accuracy and efficiency compared with conventional breeding. Soybean (Glycine max L.) is one of the most important crops worldwide used as food and forage. We tried to establish a system for breeding improvement of soybean through gene-editing technology. For the gene-editing system of soybean, i) selection of efficiency gRNA of targeted gene, ii) efficient genetic transformation of the selected gRNA, iii) selection of trans-clean mutant is essential. First of all, we investigated the selection conditions of gRNA with high editing efficiency of targeted gene using isolated protoplast of soybean. Furthermore, we performed the Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation of various soybean cultivars. We identified the tissue culture ability in 23 soybean cultivars for genetic transformation of soybean. The six cultivars with high tissue culture ability were selected and confirmed the transgenic plants in four cultivars. Finally, we established a speed-breeding system as a powerful tool for the fast selection of trans-clean mutants from transgenic plants. Our laboratory will provide the valuable system for improvement of soybean by the gene-editing technology.

  • This paper describes a design and implementation of the tree-based document editing system for XML application, available at the structure-oriented environment. This system converts DTD to ASTD( Syntax Tree Definition) to support syntax-directed editing for valid document, considers the extensibility to add new tools and supports multiple entry parser for real-time document validation. It is expected that this paper contributes related XML application document editing system development model.

  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the major cause of cervical cancer, a deadly threat to millions of females. The early oncogene product (E7) of the high-risk HPV16 is the primary agent associated with HPV-related cervical cancers. In order to understand how E7 contributes to the transforming activity, we investigated the structural features of the flexible N-terminal region (46 residues) of E7 by carrying out N-15 heteronuclear NMR experiments and replica exchange molecular dynamics simulations. Several NMR parameters as well as simulation ensemble structures indicate that this intrinsically disordered region of E7 contains two transient (10-20% populated) helical pre-structured motifs that overlap with important target binding moieties such as an E2F-mimic motif and a pRb-binding LXCXE segment. Presence of such target-binding motifs in HPV16 E7 provides a reasonable explanation for its promiscuous target-binding behavior associated with its transforming activity.

  • The web 2.0 is leading a rapid change of internet services. The UCC(User Created Contents) service is one of the representative internet services with web 2.0 paradigm. In this paper, we design and implement the UCC services prototype system for image and video. The proposed system does not need to install ActiveX and client programs on devices of users to edit their contents. All processes for editing UCC are conducted on the server. Our proposed system consists of the two components such as the multimedia editing subsystem and the metadata management system. They provide the API to UCC service developers or vendors. The multimedia editing subsystem supports editing for image and video, and the streaming services of video. The metadata management subsystem supports the metadata management and retrieval of image and video.

  • Identifying and searching for characters appearing in scenes during multimedia video editing is an arduous and time-consuming process. Applying artificial intelligence to labor-intensive media editing tasks can greatly reduce media production time, improving the creative process efficiency. In this paper, a method is proposed which combines existing artificial intelligence based techniques to automate character recognition and search tasks for video editing. Object detection, face detection, and pose estimation are used for character localization and face recognition and color space analysis are used to extract unique representation information.

Design of Educational Software for Digital Image Editing (교육용 영상 편집기의 기능 설계)

  • According to the common use of digital images, the need of image editing software is being increased rapidly. In this paper, we surveyed and summed up general users about their use style, favorite menus, troublesome functions about their image editing software. It was examined that about 73 % of the users thought that image editing software were more difficult than other applications thanks to the superfluous menu and function structure. We designed and proposed a new structure of menus and functions for general users to learn easily and make efficient use of an image editor.
