밭토양에서 지렁이 서식에 영향을 추는 토양특성에 관한 연구 (Soil Properties Influencing on Earthworm Habitation in Upland)

  • 밭토양에 지렁이가 서식하는지를 알기 위하여 밭토양 이용에 따라 초지, 과수원지, 유기농업 지, 비닐하우스지, 노지에서 지렁이를 조사하였다. 초지와 과수원지는 조사지역 모두에서 지렁이가 서식하였으며, 유기농업지는 8개 조사지역 중에 6개 지역에서만 서식하였고, 비닐하우스지에서는 12개 지역중 5개, 노지는 25개중 5개에서 지렁이 서식이 확인되었으며, 지렁이는 낚시지렁이과 (Lumbricidae)와 지렁이과 (Megascolecidae)에 속하는 지렁이였다. 지렁이 개체수는 과수원지 14마리, 초지가 12마리, 유기농법지가 10마리, 비닐하우스가 7마리, 노지가 3마리 순서로 적었으며 , 생체량은 0.25 m$^2$당 과수원지가 12.3g, 유기농법지가 11.6g, 초지가 10.6g, 비닐하우스지가 4.2 g, 노지가 2.9 g 순서로 적었다. 밭토양의 토양수분이 5% 미만이거나 35% 이상인 경우가 아니면 서식하는 데는 문제가 없었으며, 토양산도는 강산성이나 강알칼리성 토양이 아니면 토양에 적응해 가며 서식하는 것으로 조사되었다. 그리고 유기물은 1%미만 정도로 적으면 지렁이가 서식하지 않고 다른 곳으로 이동하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 본 연구는 단일사례로 동물공포증에 대한 이론적 명제를 기반으로 한 도구적 사례연구이다. 지렁이 공포증을 겪는 여성 연구 참여자로부터 아버지에 대한 심리분석을 목적으로 6개의 범주가 도출되었다. '두려운 존재', '늘 따라다니는 여자 문제', '은밀한 부정행위와 충격', '처벌에 대한 두려움', '지렁이 상징과 공포 전위', 그리고 '지렁이 공포증' 이다. 무서운 아버지에 의한 처벌 불안이 공포증의 원인 이었다. 연구 참여자에게 지렁이 공포증은 아버지에 대한 두려움이 지렁이에게 전위 된 것으로 지렁이 공포는 아버지의 대리물로 해석된다. 즉 지렁이 공포증은 아버지에 대한 오랫동안 억눌린 두려운 감정이 다시 발현되는 것을 대체하는 도피와 방어 과정으로 이해되어야 하며, 그 상징성은 병적 가족 분위기의 은유적 변형으로 볼 수 있다.

Effect of Earthworm Pretense on Dyeing Properties of Protein Fibers

  • An earthworm protease, Lumbricus rubellus, was used to improve the dyeing properties of protein fibers such as wool and silk. The optimal condition for the activity of the earthworm pretense was about $40^{\circ}C$ at pH 7. The wool and silk were treated with the protease extracted from an earthworm and the K/S values of the dyed wool and silk were measured using a spectrophotometer in order to compare the dye uptake. The pretense treatment enhanced the dyeing properties of protein fibers without severe changes in mechanical properties. The surface appearances of pretense-treated fibers were observed by microscopy analysis.

지렁이(지룡)의 해열성분에 관한 연구 (Studies of Antipyretic Component of the Earthworm)

  • In order to confirm the exact antipyretic component in the earthworm, etherial extract of American earthworm(Red Worm) was fractionated into five fractions by using silica gel column chromatography and thin layer chromatography. The fraction including free fatty acids was found to possess artipyretic response and standard arachidonic acid showed marked antipyretic response on typhoid vaccinated rabbits. Arachidonic acid was identified from the free fatty acid fraction of the earthworm by using gas liquid chromatography. Thus it was considered that the antipyretic activity of the free fatty acid may be due to the presence of arachidonic acid. Lipid-free earthworm powder was extracted with phosphate buffer (pH, 8.0, 0.1M) and all the proteins was salted out by ammonium sulfate. The crude precipitate was dialyzed and the impure proteins were eliminated at pH 5.4 and 4.6. The remaining protein solution was fractionated with various concentrations of acetone. The acetone fractions were identified by using S.D.S. polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and disc gel electrophoresis. The precipitate at 85% acetone concentration and the remaining proteins in the supernatant did not exhibit the antipyretic activity.

지렁이 꼬리재생시 재생아의 형태발생에 관한 연구 (Developmental Changes of Blastema during Earthworm Tail Regeneration)

  • Although the earthworm is an important animal species capable of regenerating missing body part, earthworm regeneration is not well understood at the tissue, cell and molecular levels. In order to understand the developmental changes of blastema during earthworm tail regeneration, the formation and development blastema during regeneration was investigated by histological analysis. Within 1 day after amputation, dediffentiating blastemal cells appeared in coelomic side of longitudinal muscle layer. At 3 days postamputation, proliferating blastemal cells migrated into coelum and blastema was formed beneath wound epithelium around 7 days after amputation. Segmentation of blastema was observed around 2 weeks after amputation followed by redifferentiation of nephridium, intestine, setae and septa.

지렁이의 생육과 분립생산을 위한 적정 인과 칼슘 수준의 추정 (Estimation of optimal phosphorus and calcium levels on the growth and cast production of earthworm(Eisenia foetida))

  • 본 연구는 vermicomposting에 의하여 한우분을 처리할 경우, 지렁이의 생육과 분립생산에 알맞는 적정한 인과 칼슘의 첨가수준을 추정하였다. 인 2%수준에서 실험 종료시 생체중, 증체속도가 높았지만, 칼슘 첨가수준간에서는 유의한 차이가 인정되지 않았다. 분립의 유효 인 함량과 칼슘함량의 비율은 인 2% 수준에서 1.04-1.20:1의 범위였고, 인 4%수준에서는1.28-1.37:1의 범위를 나타내었다. 유기물의 체 조직으로의 전환율은 인 2%수준에서 0.35%-0.41%의 범위, 4%수준에서는 0.25%-0.40%의 범위를 나타내었다.

지렁이 모사 로봇의 모델링 및 실험 검증 (Modeling and Experimental Validation of Earthworm-like Robot)

  • In recent years, capsule endoscope is highlighted for the patient's convenience and the possibility of the application in the small intestine. However, the capsule endoscope has some limitations to get the image of the digestive organ because its movement only depends on the peristaltic motion. In order to solve these problems, locomotion of capsule endoscope is necessary. In this paper, we analyze the locomotive mechanism of earthworm-like robot proposed as locomotive device of capsule endoscope and derive the condition which can Judge the possibility of its mobility using theoretical analysis. Based on a biomechanical modeling and simulation, the critical stroke, that is minimum stroke of the earthworm-like robot to perform motion inside small intestine, is obtained. Also, this derived critical stroke can be validated by the moving test of fabricated earthworm-like robot. Consequently, it is expected that this study can supply useful information to design of earthworm-like robot for mobility of capsule endoscope.

수종 살충제가 줄지렁이 치사에 미치는 영향평가 (Assessment of the Effects of Some Insecticides on Mortality of Earthworm (Eisenia fetida))

  • The toxic effects of 12 commercially available insecticides on the earthworm, Eisenia fetida (Savigny), were evaluated using artificial soil, surface sprayed soil, immersion, and contact filter tests. The risk to earthworm was assessed by the TER (toxic exposure ratio) value, which was calculated by the formula, TER=NOEC/PEC (predicted environmental concentration). TER was 3 for methomyl SL, 20 for carbaryl WP, 20 for phosphamidon SL, 30 for imidacloprid WP, and 60 for dichlorvos EC the in artificial soil test. At recommended, the earthworm mortality to methomyl SL reached 50% in the surface sprayed soil test, 72% in the immersion test, 30% in the contact filter paper test, whereas that to imidacloprid WP reached 56, 32, and 100 respectively. As a result of the four methods, methomyl SL and imidacloprid WP would be toxic insecticides to earthworm.

지렁이 Peroxidase의 특성 및 페녹시계 제초제의 분해 (characteristics of Peroxidase from the Earthworm, Lumbricus rubellus and Degradation of Phenoxyherbicides)

  • Peroxidase has been isolated to apparent homogeneity from earthworm, Lumbricus rubellus, using ammonium sulfate fractionation, Sephacryl S-2000 gel filtration, CM-cellulose cation exchange chromatography and native-PAGE elution. Some of its enzymatic characteristics were examined. The optimum pH for gruaiacol oxidation of earthworm peroxidase was determined to be 6.0, and the $K_{m}$ values against guaiacol and $H_2O_2$ were 1.25 mM and 3.4mM, respectively. When various compounds were tested as the possible substrates of the enzyme, o-dianisidine was used as the substrate. However, earthworm peroxidase could not oxidize esculetin and ferulic acid as substrates, suggesting the different characteristics of the enzyme from plant peroxidases. The optimum pH for veratryl alcohol and $H_2O_2$ oxidation was determined to be 2.5 when lignin peroxidation activity was examined. The $K_{m}$ values for veratryl alcohol and $H_2O_2$ were 0.02 mM and 0.13 mM, respectively. Furthermore, the earthworm peroxidase could oxidize phenoxyherbicides such as 2,4-D, 2,4-DP and MCPA as substrates. The optimum pHs for 2,4-D, 2,4-DP and MCPA were determined to be 4.0, 2.0 and 2.0, respectively. The most available substrate was 2,4-DP, followed by MCPA and 2,4-D when their peroxidation activities were compared.

지렁이 분립과 질소질 비료의 혼합시용이 Orchardgrass의 생산성에 미치는 영향 (Effect on Mixed application of Earthworm Cast and N-Fertilizer on the Productivity in Orchardgrass(Dactylis glomerataL.))

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of mixed application of earthworm cast and N-fertilizer on dry matter(DM) yield in orchardgrass(Dactylis glomerate L.). Experimental plot were designed by a randomized block design with 3 replications of six different treatments-Control(0:0), 100% earthworm cast(0:100), 3 levels of mixed application(25:75:, 50:50, 75:25) of earthworm cast and N-fertilizer, and 100% N-fertilizer(100:0)based on content (%) of nitrogen. The experiment was carried out from March to October, 1993, on the forage experimental field of Kon-Kuk Univ. in Seoul. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Annual dry matter yield was significantly increased according to increasing of N-fertilizer 2. Dry matter yield for each treatment as cutting time was passing was decreased. However, dry matter yield was slightly increased at 75%, 50%, and 25% mixed application of earthworm cast at the third cutting time than the second cutting time(p<0.05). 3. concerning each treatment per cutting time, dry matter yield was higher at 100% N fertilizer than the other treatments at the first, second, and fourth cutting time except the third cutting time only(p<0.05). And according to decreasing of mixing ratio of N fertilizer, dry matter yield was decreased, too. 4. Dry matter yield of 100% earthworm cast was significantly higher than control at the fourth cutting time(p<0.05).
