There is the increasing number of constructing soil or structure on the soft ground during public works. Usually cement or slag cement has been the traditional material for surface soil stabilization method. Recently, early strength development properties of hardening agent is required for driving abilities of execution equipment and shortening of the construction time. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop the early compressive strength hardening agent for surface soil stabilization. The study was confirmed performance and availability of hardening agent using early strength type cement and industrial by-product minerals through early strength development properties in accordance with water cement ratio, content of hardening agent for soft soil.
Generally, the strength of the field shotcrete is heavily dependent on the field mixing and spraying conditions so that it is different from the strength of the shotcrete mixed in laboratories. As a support member, the early strength of shotcrete unlike concrete as structural material is very important to the initial stabilization of the excavation face in tunnels. Therefore, the field methods to efficiently test the early strength of shotcrete have been highly required. This paper aimed to verify the pneumatic pin penetration test and the point load test for measuring the early strength of the field shotcrete. Through a series of uniaxial compression, pin penetration, and point load tests for the range of the early shotcrete strength, two equations to estimate reliably the uniaxial compressive strength by the pin penetration and the point load tests were derived. Field tests in working tunnel were carried out in order to estimate the economic efficiency. As a result, pin penetration method was proved to be the most effective method for testing the early strength of the field shotcrete.
The present study verifies compressive strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity, electrical resistance, permeable ratio, and shrinkage from waste glass controlled low strength materials (WGCLSM) and early-high-strength WGCSLM specimens, by replacing the sand with waste glass percentages of 0%, 10%,20%, and 30%. This study reveals that increasing amounts of waste LCD glass incorporated into concrete increases WGCLSM fluidity and reduces the setting time, resulting in good working properties. By increasing the glass to sand replacement ratio, the compressive strength decreases to achieve low-strength effects. Furthermore, the electrical resistance also rises as a result of increasing the glass to sand replacement ratio. Early-high-strength WGCSLM aged 28 days has twice the electrical resistance compared to general WGCSLM. Early-high-strength WGCSLM aged 7 days has a higher ultrasonic pulse velocity similar to WGCSLM aged 28 days. The variation of length with age of different compositions is all within the tolerance range of 0.025%. This study demonstrates that the proper composition ratio of waste LCD glass to sand in early-high-strength WGCSLM can be determined by using different amounts of glass-sand. A mechanism for LCD optical waste glass usage can be established to achieve industrial waste minimization, resource recycling, and economic security.
This study reports the site application of concrete using AE Water Reducing Agent of Early-Strength Type. According to the lab test results, we have made plans of batch plant pilot test, and we have analyzed the erly aged compressive strength and workability of the concrete. We applied the early-strength development concrete to the construction site. We accomplished the slump test in order to evaluate the workablity and air contents, we made site curing mold to evaluate the early strength of members. As a result, we judgeed the superior property of early strength development of the concrete, and thought that we can reduce the time of form stripping more $40\%$ than ordinary strength concrete. We thought that we can reduce the term of works and finally we can accomplish the economical construction.
This study was performed with an aim to improve the early-age strength of concrete containing fly ash, which is known to increase the long-age strength of concrete, reduce drying shrinkage, and enhance water tightness. The composition was partially substituted with calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA), from which ettringite is actively produced, in the early stages of hydration to verify its effect on improving the early-age strength and to determine the optimal mixing ratio. For this purpose, up to 30 % of the cement weight was substituted with fly ash, and the amount of CSA substitution was 8% of the fly ash weight. The mixtures were then fabricated into concrete specimens for compressive strength measurement and analysis of the correlation between the hydration products and the compressive strength.
The way to shorten a construction period is considered to an very important technology development element as reducing the formwork removal periods with promoting strength revelation own concrete. This study executed experiment to review usability of early strength revelation chemical admixture which is judged in ways effective with premature removal of form about concrete. Use of early strength revelation AE water reducin admixture is apperaing so that strength revelation by early hydration promotions is excellent. The results of being applied proposed work process are that compressive strength are appeared more than 5MPa within 16 hours so that removal of vertical form was possible. the concrete compressive strength satisfied with a more than 2/3 of specified concrete strength for removal of horizontal form are appeared in 42 hours of 27 MPa proportioning strength, in 36 hours of 30, 35 MPa proportioning strength so that the 6 days cycle time of concrete structural frame work is cut by 2 days as shortening delayed period in works of removing slab forms. So construction cost reductions and a construction period shortening are judged so that it is possible.
The shrinkage properties of high early strength concrete were investigated. One of the method to control microcrack and crack development due to restrained shrinkage is to reinforce concrete with randomly distributed fibers. Regulated-set cement and two different types of fiber were adopted. The experiments for heat of hydration, drying and autogenous shrinkage were conducted. The desirable resistance of high early strength fiber reinforced concrete to restrained shrinkage microcracking was achieved. These results indicate that use of fiber in high early strength concrete plays an important role in control of crack development due to restrained shrinkage.
Based on previous research and existing literature, this study examines the development of admixture, which increases the early concrete strength (1 and 3 day) by mixing blast furnace slag cement and concrete stimulant. The research on early strength development of concrete is necessary in dealing with the drawbacks of slow early strength concrete on site and to shorten the construction time. The study confirmed that when a high alkaline mortar mixture is mixed with blast furnace slag, the early strength of admixture exceeds that of ordinary portland cement (OPC). The use of calcium chloride ($CaCl_2$) promotes hydration of cement at low temperature and show similar strength as the blast furnace slag admixture. Although calcium chloride seems economically advantageous, it causes steel corrosion and its use in concrete should be further studied in-depth.
