  • This study was performed to obtain the basic data applied to use of synthetic lightweight aggregate concrete affected by alkali silica reaction. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. The compressive strength of type A concrete was increased with increase of curing age. At the curing age 28 days, the highest compressive strength was showed at type Band C concrete, respectively. But, it was gradually decreased with increase of curing age at those concrete. 2. The flexural strength of type A concrete was increased with increase of curing age. At the curing age 14 days, the highest flexural strength was showed at type Band C concrete, respectively. But, it was gradually decreased with increase of curing age at those concrete. 3. The correlation between compressive and flexural strength of the sample was shown highly significant only at type A concrete. 4. It was shown that the water absorptions of the type Band C were 7.0-7.8 times higher than the type A concrete. It was significantly higher at the early stage of immersed time at all sample. 5. The correlation between compressive strength and water absorption of the sample was significant only at the type A concrete.

  • In this study, the properties of cement mortar and concrete using ceramic wastes as fine aggregates and coarse aggregates are considered experimentally. Flow value of mortar using ceramic waste as fine aggregates is increased more or less, and the com- pressive strength of mortar using ceramic wastes as fine aggregates is increased with elapsed age. The slump value of concrete using ceramic wastes fine aggregates and coarse aggregates is somewhat decreased. The compressive strength of concrete using ceramic wastes as fine aggregates and coarse aggregates is lower than that of OPC concrete in early age, but has gradually increased in long ages.

  • This study is intended to produce a PC (Precast Concrete) member without a steam curing process in developing the high early strength concrete satisfying the condition of 10MPa in compressive strength at the age of 6 hours, and is intended to ensure economic feasibility by increasing the turnover rate of concrete form. Hence, high early strength cement with high $C_3S$ content and the hardening accelerator of powder type accelerating the hydration of $C_3S$ was used. And the properties of concrete were evaluated according to the hardening accelerator mixing ratio (0, 1.2, 1.6, 2.0). No big difference was found from the tests of both slump and air content. When 1.6 % or higher amounts of the hardening accelerator were mixed, the compressive strength of 10MPa was achieved at the age of 6 hours. From the test results of autogenous (drying) shrinkage and plastic shrinkage, it can be seen that there was a difference according to hydration reaction rate due to the addition of the hardening accelerator. However, it was shown that no problem arose with crack and durability. And it was shown that resistance to freezing-thawing, carbonation, and penetration were excellent.

  • The purpose of the paper is to evaluate the pore structure and mechanical properties of early frost damaged concrete using electric arc furnace slag as aggregate. From the results, when the concrete is exposed to frost damage at an early age, the peak point of pores 100 to 150 ㎛ in diameter were transferred into larger one. When the freezing duration is not exceeded 24 hours, it is possible that the pore distribution of under the 200 ㎛ is maintained and pore size of over 500 ㎛ is not formed, and, the freezing resistance of concrete using EFG could be improved. When BFS was mixed in concrete using EFG as coarse aggregate, the relative strength is higher than that of natural coarse aggregate. Meanwhile, the elastic modulus and resonance frequency did not change significantly due to the early frost damage as compared with the compressive strength. So, it is necessary to analyze the correlation between the experimental results in order to evaluate the performance degradation due to early frost damage.

  • This study analyzed the basic characteristics of concretes to develop 3 ingredients high performance concrete that displaced BS and FA, and the results are as follows. As part of fresh concrete characteristics, the flow was shown more increase than OPC with increase in admixture material displacement rate, and air amount tended to decrease with increase in admixture displacement rate. As hardened concrete characteristics, compressive strength decreased below OPC at early age with increase in BS and FA displacement rate, however at age 28 days, it was similar to OPC or increased above that. Particularly, at B30F15 with age 28 days, its compressive strength was about 15% higher than OPC

  • This study tested 25 lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) mixtures using the expanded bottom ash and dredged soil granules to examine the compressive strength gain of such concrete with different ages. The test parameters investigated were water-to-cement ratios and the natural sand content for the replacement of lightweight fine aggregate. The compressive strength gain rate in the basic equation specified in fib model code was experimentally determined in each mixture and then empirically formulated as a function of the water-to-cement ratio and oven-dried density of concrete. When compared with 28-day compressive strength, the tested LWAC mixtures exhibited relatively low gain ratios (0.49~0.82) at an age of 3 days whereas the gain ratios (1.16~1.41) at 91 days were higher than that (1.05~1.15) of the conventional normal-weight concrete. Thus, the fib model equations tend to overestimate the early strength gain of LWAC but underestimate the long-term strength gain. The proposed equations are in good agreement with the measured compressive strength development of LWAC at different ages, indicating that the mean and standard deviation of the normalized root mean square errors determined in each mixture are 0.101 and 0.053, respectively.

  • Construction plan and strength control have limitations in construction production field because it is difficult to predict the form removal strength and development of specified concrete strength. However, we can have reasonable construction plan and strength control if prediction of concrete strength is available. In this study, firstly, the newly proposed strength prediction model with maturity method was compared with the logistic model to test the adaptability. Secondly, the determination of time of form removal was verified through the new strength prediction model. As the results, it is found that investigation of the activation energy that are used to calculate equivalent age is necessary, and new strength prediction model was proved to be more accurate in the strength prediction than logistic model in the early age. Moreover, the use of new model was more reasonable because it has low SSE and high decisive factor. If we adopt new strength prediction model at construction field, we can expect the reduced period of work through the reduced time of form removal.

  • This paper is intended to verify the efficiency of anti-freeze agent and insulating form by analyzing the temperature history and the property of strength-increase about the concrete that is placed in the insulating form and normal form, using new type anti-freeze agent in batcher plant According to the results about the temperature history, while the lowest temperature shows 3$^{\circ}C$ in case of normal concrete + euroform, 4$^{\circ}C$ in case of normal concrete + insulating form, it shows 6$^{\circ}C$ in anti-freeze agent + the insulating form, so the effect is most favorable. The compressive strength with mixing anti-freeze agent or not, shows high in order of standard curing, structure-managing and open air-placed specimen and the concrete mixing anti-freeze agent shows the highest compressive strength-increase.

  • This study is intended to devolop the self waterproof agents for high performance concrete by analyzing the properties of fresh and hardened mortar with various addition ratios of the inorganic admixture and zinc stearate. As the results of the test, the flow and air content increase with the addition of expansive additives. When the replacement rate of silica fume increases, the flow decreases for the increased viscidity. And the flow and sir content decrease with the addition of zinc stearate. At hardened state, the compressive strength, tensile strength and flexual strength decrease with the addition of expansive additives and zinc stearate. With the increase of silica fume's replacement, they show a little decrease at early age and then increase gradually. Also, absorption and permeability show a steep decrease when zinc stearate is added, and a slack decrease with the replacement of silica fume.

  • The objective of this study is to find out the effect of Horizontal vibration on the compressive strength for 7 days and 28 days cured concrete specimens according to the kind of fine aggregates and the variation of vibration velocities, and times began to vibrate. Three kinds of fine aggregate(river sand, sea sand, crush sand), three types of vibration velocities(0.25, 0.5 0.1kine(cm/sec)), and four steps of times(0, 3, 6, 9 hours after concrete casting) were chosen as the experimental parameters in this study, the vibrations are applied for 30 minutes in each case. From this study, the variation with type of fine aggregate doesn't show tendency and the compressive strength decreases with increasing vibration velocity. When the vibration force time is more than 6 hour, It shows that compressive strength decreases under the condition of vibration velocity which the value is 0.5 kine and 1 kine, respectively.
