The polariscope to measure :he stress in lens was made up quarter-wave plate polarizer and we analyzed two components of light's wave $E_1$ and $E_2$ following the steps. It is clear that the principal-stress difference ${\sigma}_1-{\sigma}_2$ can be determined in 2-D model if fringe order N is measured each point in sample moreover. the optical axes of sample coincide with the principal-stress directions. The birefringence acted to a light wave and a phase retardation were in proportioned to the principal-stressed difference (${\sigma}_1-{\sigma}_2$) and the intensity of final light wave was proportioned to $sin^2({\Delta}/2)$, when ${\Delta}/2=n^{\pi}$ (n=0, 1, 2, ...) and the extinction occurs. As a experimental result, the extinction band shifted owing to a magnitude of lens' external stress.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)-induced gut damage and bacterial translocation (BT) have not been studies well, especially from the perspective of time after administration of NSAIDs. We therefore examined these changes in animals. The study was performed on 5 groups of rat; a control group (group A) and diclofenac groups (groups B, C, E, and F). Rats in the diclofenac groups were orally administered diclofenac sodium before intestinal permeability (IP) measurement (group B, 1 h before measurement; group C, 10 h before; group D, 22 h before; and group E, 52 h before). The IP, stool pellet number, serum biochemical profile, enteric bacterial number, and BT in the mesenteric lymph nodes (MLNs), liver, spleen, kidney and heart were measured. The administration of diclofenac resulted in significantly increased IP, caused intestinal protein loss, decreased stool pellet number, caused enteric bacterial overgrowth and increased BT in multiple organs in groups A, B, C, and D. IF, intestinal protein loss, and the BT in the liver and the spleen in group E were decreased than those in group D. There were no differences in the other parameters between group D and E. In the recovery phase of the diclofenac-induced gut damage, enteric bacterial overgrowth and BT in the kidneys and the heart did not change while the BT in the reticuloendothelial systems such as in the MLNs and liver was decreased.

Let G = (V (G), E(G)) be a graph and let g : V (G) → S₃ be a function. For each edge xy assign the label r where r is the remainder when o(g(x)) is divided by o(g(y)) or o(g(y)) is divided by o(g(x)) according as o(g(x)) ≥ o(g(y)) or o(g(y)) ≥ o(g(x)). The function g is called a group S₃ cordial remainder labeling of G if |v_g(i)-v_g(j)| ≤ 1 and |e_g(1)-e_g(0)| ≤ 1, where v_g(j) denotes the number of vertices labeled with j and e_g(i) denotes the number of edges labeled with i (i = 0, 1). A graph G which admits a group S₃ cordial remainder labeling is called a group S₃ cordial remainder graph. In this paper, we prove that subdivision of graphs admit a group S₃ cordial remainder labeling.

We investigated the structural parameters of a sample of 30 dwarf galaxies(15 dEs and 15 dS0s) in the Virgo Cluster using i-band images from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 4. Among 28 galaxies for which surface brightness profiles were derived from ellipse fittings, 23 galaxies had a single component that was adequately described by a generalized $S\acute{e}rsic$ function with a shape parameter ranging from n=0.5 to 2, while 5 galaxies(2 dEs and 3 dS0s) had bulge and disk components that were fitted by a generalized $S\acute{e}rsic$ function and an exponential function, respectively. Since the majority of dwarf galaxies in the present sample had a single component, it seems likely that genuine dS0 galaxies that have disk and bulge components are quite rare in the Virgo Cluster. The similarity in structural parameters of genuine dS0 galaxies in the Virgo Cluster with those of Magellanic-type galaxies implies that the progenitors of dwarf lenticular galaxies in the Virgo Cluster were most likely Magellanic-type galaxies if dS0s are harassed late-type spirals.

Even if ion pumps are widely and mostly used in ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions, virtually every existing ion pump has its maximum pumping speed around 1E-6 mbar (1E-4 Pa). Discharge intensity in the ion pump Penning cell is defined as the current divided by pressure (I/P). This quantity reflects the rate of cathode bombardment by ions, which underlies all of the various pumping mechanisms that occur in ion pumps (chemisorption on sputtered material, ion burial, etc.), and therefore is an indication of pumping speed. A study has been performed to evaluate the influence of magnetic fields and cell dimensions on the ion pump discharge intensity and consequently on the pumping speed at different pressures. As a result, a combination of parameters has been developed in order to design and build an ion pump with the pumping speed peak shifted towards lower pressures. Experimental results with several different test set-ups are presented and a prototype of a new 200 l/s ion pump with the maximum pumping speed in the 1E-8 mbar (1E-6 Pa) is described. A model of the system has also been developed to provide a framework for understanding the experimental observations.

We propose a heuristic distributed unicast routing algorithm for minimizing the total cost of the path in a point to point network with do]ay constraint. The algorithm maintains a delay vector and a cost vector about the network states and finds the path using this information. In this paper, we show that our algorithm always finds a delay-constrained path if such a path exists and has O(│E│) message complexity(│E│is the number of links in the network). Also, simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better cost performance than other delay-constrained routing algorithms.

The purpose of this work is to analyze quantitatively if the safety instrumented system(SIS) like the pressure safety valves(PSV) in the processes of ethyl benzene plant have been designed relevantly to the safety integrity level because overpressure in the benzene or ethyl benzene columns causes the explosive reactions, fires and reactor explosions. The safety integrity level(SIL) 3 has been adopted as a target level of SIS based on the general data of the Probability of Failure on Demand of PSV, $1.00E-4{\sim}1.00E-3$. The standard model of the reliability has been set up and then the fault tree analysis of it has been carried out to get the PFD of SIS, and the results show 8.97E-04, 5.37E-04, 5.37E-04 for benzene prefractionator column, benzene column and EB column, respectively. Thus, we conclude that the SIS is designed to fulfill the condition of SIL3, and when the partial stroke test for the control valve are carried out every sixth month, the SIS of each column is expected to increase its reliability up to $22{\sim}27%$.

In order to obtain the basic data for design of water structures which can be contributed to the planning of water use. Best fitted distribution function and the equations for the probable minimum flow were derived to the annual minimum flow of five subwatersheds along Geum River basin. The result were analyzed and summarized as follows. 1. Type III extremal distribution was considered as a best fit one among some other distributions such as exponential and two parameter lognormal distribution by $x^2$-goodness of fit test. 2. The minimum flow are analyzed by Type III extremal distribution which contains a shape parameter $\lambda$, a location parameter ${\beta}$ and a minimum drought $\gamma$. If a minimum drought $\gamma=0$, equations for the probable minimum flow, $D_T$, were derived as $D_T={\beta}e^{\lambda}1^{y'}$, with two parameters and as $D_T=\gamma+(\^{\beta}-\gamma)e^{{\lambda}y'}$ with three parameters in case of a minimum drought ${\gamma}>0$ respectively. 3. Probable minimum flow following the return periods for each stations were also obtained by above mentioned equations. Frequency curves for each station are drawn in the text. 4. Mathematical equation with three parameters is more suitable one than that of two parameters if much difference exist between the maximum and the minimum value among observed data.

We report the detection of a low-amplitude 380.8-day radial velocity (RV) variations in oscillating K2 III star ${\alpha}$ Ari (HD 12929). We do not found the correlation between RV variations and equivalent widths of chromospheric activity indicators ($H{\alpha}$ and CaII 8662 ${\AA}line$). The bisector analysis shows that bisector velocity span (BVS) and RV variations are not strongly correlated with each other. These result suggest that the RV variations could have been produced either by planetary companion or by the surface spots. If this RV variation is indeed caused by a planetary companion, an orbital solution with a period of P = 381 days, a semi-amplitude of K = 41 m/s, and an eccentricity of e = 0.25 fits the data best. Assuming a possible stellar mass of $M_{\bigstar} = 1.4-5.6 M\odot$, we estimate the minimum mass for the companion of m sini = 1.8-4.5 $M_{Jup}$ with an orbital semi-major axis of 1.2-1.9 AU. If confirmed, our finding gives a support to search for exoplanets around giant stars with multi-periodic oscillations.

The purpose of this study is to develop a on-line design tool for effectively coping with e-Business environment, or product design process into a Cyber model for traditional manufacturers which attempts new product development under such environment. It was finally developed as a model named $\ulcorner$Design Vortal Site; e-BVDS) that was based on the structure and style of internet web site. Results of the study can be described as follows ; \circled1 e-Business is based on the Internet. All processes in the context of e-Business require models whose structure and method of use are on-line styles. \circled2 In case that a traditional manufacturing business is converted into e-Business, it is better to first consider Hybrid Model that combines resources and advantages of both such traditional and digital businesses. \circled3 The product design process appropriate for e-Business environment has to have a structure and style that ensure utilization of the process as an Internet web site, active participation by product developers and interactive communication between participants in designing and designers. \circled4 $\ulcorner$e-BDVS) makes possible the use of designers around the wend like in-house designers, overcoming lack in creativity, ideas and human resources traditional business organizations face. However, the operation of $\ulcorner$e-BDVS$\lrcorner$ requires time and budget investments in securing related elements and conditions. \circled5 Cyber designers under $\ulcorner$e-BDVS$\lrcorner$ can easily perform all design projects in cyber space. But they have some limits in playing a role as designers and they have difficulty in getting rewards if such projects completed by them are not finally accepted. \circled6 $\ulcorner$e-BDVS) ensures the rapid use of a wide range of design information and data, reception of a variety of solutions and ideas and effective design development, all of which are not possible through traditional processes. However, this process may not be suitable to be used routine process or tool. \circled7 $\ulcorner$e-BDVS$\lrcorner$ makes it possible for out-sourcing or partners businesses to overcome restrictions in time and space and improve productivity and effectiveness. But such they may have to continue off-line works that can not be treated on-line.
