  • This study was designed to investigate potential endocrine disrupting effects of several industrial wastewater effluents discharged from cosmetic, plaiting, paint, textile industry using EROD bioassay and E-Screen assay. The results of E-screen assay showed that textile industrial wastewater could act as a full agonist and cosmetics and plaiting industrial wastewater could act as a partial agonist. On the contrary, the wastewater discharged from paint industry did not show any estrogenic effect. Estrogenic activity in the effluents of cosmetic and paint industrial wastewater was lower than that in the influents indicating that the wastewater treatment process minimized the effects of discharges on water quality. Despite of these results, it was recognized that wastewater treatment was not always minimize toxic impact. In this study, increased estrogenic effect was observed in the effluents of plating and textile wastewater, and EROD activity was increased in the effluents of cosmetic and plating wastewater.

  • This study analyzed the recognition rate of QR codes printed by digital transfer textile printing for mobile application. The purpose was to identify conditions that increase recognition rates of QR codes printed on textile, in order to increase utility of QR codes in the textile and fashion industries. The study focused on differences in the color of the QR codes and denier, which is a unit of textile fineness measurement, of the textile on which the QR codes were printed. And the recognition rates of QR codes according to the color and denier were analyzed. According to the result of this study, the colors of QR codes had an effect on the recognition of the codes by mobile applications. Specifically, strong contrast, i.e., bright background and relatively dark module, increased the recognition rate of the QR codes. Digital transfer textile printing tend to change the hue of red and yellow and increase brightness, and change in the printed colors also had an effect on the recognition rate of QR codes. There was a clear difference in the color and recognition rate of the printed QR code according to the denier of the textile, and this suggests denier has an effect on the recognition rate. The findings in this study can provide basic data for future research on QR codes digital printed on textile.

  • When it comes to clothing design, after the mid 20th century some internationally renowned designers began to recognize the pivotal role clothing materials play in attracting the hearts of customers. Accordingly, they started to take advantage of new clothing materials in the sector of clothing design. While the theme of fashionable clothing products shifts from style and color to clothing materials, fashion designers place the quality of materials at the center of clothing designs. Fashion designers also realize that good quality of materials should be used to boost the value of products as well as to satisfy the conditions of creativity, practicality and aesthetics. In particular, as the non-apparel industry in which clothing materials are the most important aspect between fashionable color, silhouette and details is enhancing their attention to develop various materials in order to meet the needs of customers, the fashion industry places a high premium on textile design which is the pinnacle of expressing emotion on clothing materials. In addition, the industry raises awareness of developing more sophisticated and differentiated materials. Our thesis covers the way how to apply $moir{\acute{e}}$ pattern to clothing design on the basis of research. In order to put that research into practical use, we produced textiles which effectively display $moir{\acute{e}}$ pattern. Before this process, we tried to ensure that radial grating created $moir{\acute{e}}$ pattern effects. To this end, the weaving process was applied, depending on whether light can penetrate textiles or not. Then, we manufactured test-products using $moir{\acute{e}}$ pattern.

  • In this study, when cotton fabrics dyed with Direct dyes are treated under various resin concentration 2, 4, 8, 12, $14\%$ with ureaformaldehyde(UF) and melamineformaldehyde(MF) resin which can be imparted the crease recovery to textiles, chang of properties on lightfastness, washfastness, crease recovery, breaking strength, etc. and color changes are investigated. the results are as follows 1) Color difference(${\Delta}$E) increased but K/S value decreased according to the increase of resin cone. such tendency showed that MF treated fabrics and soaping fabrics were evident than UF treated fabrics and non-soaping fabrics. 2) In lightfastness, ${\Delta}$E and K/S value of resin treated fabrics were reduced as compared with untreated fabrics according to the increase of resin cone. The lower ${\Delta}$E and K/S value of MF than ${\Delta}$E and K/S value of UF showed low lightfastness of MF. pH of resin treted fabrics was almost unaffected with lightfastness. 3) In washfastness, ${\Delta}$E and K/S value of resin treated fabrics decreased slightly as com-pared with untreated fabricsaccording tothe increase of resin cone. The ${\Delta}$E and K/S value of MF decreased lower than UF. But in the case of the higher resin cone. than about $8\%$, they were not almost differentiated. 4) As resin cone. increased, crease recovery considerably increased but breaking strength and elongation decreased. The fabrics treated with UF were good crease recovery, whereas the fabrics treated with MF were good breaking strength. 5) Soaping appeared to improve the lightfastness, washfastness, crease recovery but appeared to work adverse effect on breaking strength.

  • This paper reviews the recent development of electronic textile technology, mainly focusing on chip-textile bonding. Before the chip-textile bonding, a circuit on the textile should be prepared to supply the electrical power and signal to the chip mounted on the fabrics. Either embroidery with conductive yarn or screen-printing with the conductive paste can be applied to implement the circuit on the fabrics depending on the circuit density and resolution. Next, chip-textile bonding can be performed. There are two choices for chip-textile bonding: fixed connection methods such as soldering, ACF/NCA, embroidery, crimping, and secondly removable connection methods like a hook, magnet, zipper. Following the chip-textile bonding process, the chip on the textile is generally encapsulated using PDMS to ensure reliability like water-proof.

  • Dyeing and fastness properties of a dyeable PP fiber were examined with four different types of disperse dyes. It was found that the dyed PP fiber could be cleared by soaping without using sodium hydrosulphite, and that the heat setting above $140^{\circ}C$ resulted in the melting of the PP fiber. The rates of dyeing and the extents of exhaustion of three primary E type dyes were different with each other, the apparent color strength did not increase with increasing dye concentration, and color fastness to washing was not satisfactory. In the cases of both high wash fastness and high light fastness dyes, the rates of dyeing were slow and the extents of exhaustion were very low. On the other hand, the dyeing rates of three primary S type dyes were similar and the build-up properties were good with good color fastnesses. It might be concluded that the best disperse dyes for the dyeable PP fiber were S type dyes.

  • Raman spectroscopy has been used to investigate the structure of coal tar pitch heat-treated up to $3000^{\circ}C$ by using 514.5 run Ar ion laser line. Four critical temperature ranges were found on pyrolyzing coal tar pitch, which correspond to four distinct processes from disordered carbons to the well-ordered graphite structure. The range of heat treat temperature (HTT) below $1000^{\circ}C$ corresponds to gas evolution during the pyrolysis of coal tar pitch. Above the HTT are correlated to rearrangements of enlarged molecules, growth of the molecules along the direction of plane, finally stacking in the normal direction of the plane, in the respective HTT ranges of 1000-2000, above 2000 and $2500-3000^{\circ}C$.

  • Polyurethane(PU) materials have been generally used in the automobile, paint, furniture, adhesive, and textile industries. The use of Waterborne PU was motivated form the environmental point of view, i.e. reduction of solvent emissions into the atmosphere(volatile organic compounds, VOC)[1]. Generally speaking, phase change materials (PCM) have the capability of absorbing or releasing thermal energy to reduce or eliminate heat transfer at the temperature range of the particular temperature stabilizing material[2]. • Large quantity of metal mordant in natural dyeing has been used. For environmental reason, there is a need to reduce the amount of metal mordant and suggest the optimum amount of metal mordant in dyeing process. In this study, the relationship between mordant concentration and dyeing property was investigated. Various metal mordant concentrations of AI, Cu, Fe, Sn, were studied (from 1 to 5%). After treatment of mordant on cotton fabric, the concentration of metal ion in used mordant solution was quantified. There was no significant difference of the tone of color in mordant concentration from 1% to 5%, Therefore, there is no need to increase mordant concentration over 1%. chitosan treated cotton fabric showed a significant increase in dyeing affinity compared to untreated cotton fabric (the value of ${\Delta}E$ was 20). chitosan increased dye affinity significantly in the presence of mordant. It can be suggested that chitosan itself can replace metal mordants in the future.

  • Dye solutions were tested in order to find the optimal condition of ozonation and determine the progress of degradation, i.e., change of the parameters characterizing the dye solutions. From the results of our experiment we can conclude that almost all of the color was removed within a 10 minute time period. An ozone oxidation results in the effective removal of COD(60%). but the elimination of the total organic carbon(TOC) was not successful, only about 15~40% of TOC was removed from dyeing wastewater in 30 minutes. The color removal is much effective in using ozonation method.
