An Empirical Study on e-Logistics of Port & Logistics industry (항만물류산업의 e-Logistics 실증연구)

  • At the present, e-commerce takes the place of existing transaction form in structure in the world trade by advancement of Information Technology and diffusion of Internet. There is no exceptions of this tendency even in industry of maritime and logistics. So, global shipping lines and logistics companies try to construct the e-Business network system for increasing their competitiveness in an are of cyber. However, in Korea, most of companies prefer "final handshake" as the traditional way of transaction to "e-commerce", because they bear a distrust in mind about the outflow of transaction information and security of settlement. So, number of companies using e-commerce is very small, and this situation causes the limited factor for activating the transaction structure of it. The rate of using e-commerce in logistics industry is lower than other industries, even more higher effectiveness is expected when they use it. Especially, it is very necessary not only e-commerce but also e-Logistics which can serve information of freight cost on cargo flow, operation cost and schedule, and tracing information of cargo. Increasing the necessity of e-Logistics, this study research the rate rf using e-Logistics focused on maritime and logistics companies, and analyze the transaction form among members of these industries for improving them. In detail, this paper examine the drivers for activating e-Logistics, and present the effective factors for a successful development of these industries.

Measurement of Port Service Quality in Container Transport Logistics Using Importance -Performance Analysis: A Case of Busan Port

  • This study aims to propose an assessment tool of port service quality (PSQ) in the context of container transport logistics (CTLs), by taking the perspectives from port users. The CTLs defined in this study are the relevant activities of serving the physical flows of a container box from a point of origin via a container port to a point of destination. To address the ports' role in collaboration between its channel members in CTLs, the PSQ measures for all port user groups (i.e. common PSQ measures) are selected based on the relevant CTLs activities involved by port, and its users within terminal/port area as well as throughout the CTLs chain. An importance-performance analysis (IPA) is applied as a diagnostic tool to analyse the status quo of Busan Port in CTLs contexts, by comparing the importance and performance (IP ) scores against each individual CTLs criterion. The findings from the IPA reveal that port managers and policy makers at the Busan Port should concentrate on six PSQ measures (i.e. SR1, SR4, ITS1, VAS1, VAS4, ICI3) to enhance PSQ in CTLs. However, four measures (i.e. ITS2, ITS3, ITS4, VAS2) are identified as a possible overkill, indicating an area of inefficiency where a remedial action of the cost-cutting decision is necessary. On the other hand, the Busan port shows an outstanding performance on four measures such as SR2, SR3, ICI1 and ICI2. The measures are not only important but also high performance. The study findings provide managerial guidance to port managers in Busan Port, in view of searching for managerial and operational strategies for sustainable port growth.

  • TTA(한국정보통신기술협회)는 2002년 10월 8일 (주)이스텔시스템즈(www.eastelsystems.com)의 ATM(asynchronous transfer mode) Router (모델명 : EAR-155)에 대하여 성능 및 aging 시험을 수행하여 국내 최초 TTA Verified 인증서(번호: TTA-V-02-001)를 발급하였다. 본 고에서는 두 대의 EAR-155 ATM Routers를 이용하여 각 라우터의 확장 slot에 Fast Ethernet port, ATM OC3(155 Mbps) port, ATM DS3(44.736 Mbps) port, ATM E1(2.048 Mbps) port 및 TDM E1(2.048 Mbps) port를 장착하여 back-to-back으로 연결한 환경에 대한 no-loss UDP throughput 시험결과를 소개한다.

  • Due to the changes in market place, new business types(e.g. e-business) have been rapidly emerged and increased. However, those new business types have not much been emerged n shipping and port related industries, and adoption rate of e-business in this area is very low, compared to other industries. Thus, to promote e-business in this area. many policies have been studied. However, most of previous studies have not been based on industrial structure, and results of these studies have mostly been case by case. Further, there have been no research based on the related theories. As a result, despite many of research and project for shipping and port related e-business, prominent achievements in this area have never to be presented. For these reasons, it can be stated that, first of all, basic studies related to new business types in shipping and port are needed. For these reasons, it can be stated that, first of all, basic studies related to new business types in shipping and port are needed, and then, various policies based on results of those basic studies should be discussed. The aim of this study is to classify business types existed (or expected) in a port related industry, ship bunkering. This taxonomy was based on theories related to business layer(BL) and value chain(VC), and these BL and VC combination enabled to acquire all possible business types.

The Proper Capacity of Anchorage in Ulsan Port with Reference to the Anchorage Operating Rate (울산항 정박지 가동률 분석을 통한 적정 정박지 규모 제안에 관한 연구)

  • This study suggests methods to evaluate the availability of anchorage in Ulsan port and determine the proper capacity of future anchorage in accordance with port development. Accordingly, the concept of an Anchorage Operating Rate (AOR) is introduced to evaluate the capacity of anchorage that was available in Ulsan port in 2014. Calculations revealed that the operating rate of all anchorages in Ulsan port did not exceed 100 %. However, in 2020 it is estimated that the AOR at E1 anchorage will be the highest with a rate of 168.3 %, followed by E3 with 131.1 %, E2 with 118.5 % and M with 108.7%. These findings indicate a shortage of anchorage by 2020. In order to decrease the AOR to a level that will not exceed 100 %, in accordance with port development in Ulsan, areas to accommodate an additional 11 ships at E1 anchorage, 1 ship at E2 anchorage, 2 ships at E3 anchorage and 1 ship at M anchorage will be necessary.

  • This paper proposes the implementation plan of information network for an E-Navigation. Firstly, It configures to the network system based on E-Navigation information network using information and communication technology. And then, it builds on the total port network and tuning up the maritime traffic support system. It will expect to the efficiency through information network between ship to ship related pen operator. Building of information network for the E-Navigation, it is to build on the wireless internet infrastructure for the port logistics and traffic safety.
