  • Information technology has been transforming the relationship between shippers and carriers, but an unresolved question remains: what is the relative importance to shippers of service versus cost benefits of e-logistics solutions? This research develops and empirically tests a model to determine how Internet-based logistical operations in international shipping impact on the relative importance of cost versus service benefits to shippers. Contrary to expectations, results show that shippers perceived cost benefits from well-designed web sites, undoubtedly a consequence of perceptions that multi-function portals with ease of access contributed to savings in time and money. Another result was the confirmation of the positive effects of cargo tracing and bill of lading issuance on service-related factors. Finally, this study draws attention to the need for improvements in on-line booking capabilities and development of a comprehensive common portal; issues that must be addressed for shipping lines to succeed in an increasingly competitive e-logistics market.

  • Since 2000, e-commerce has been increased continuously in its quantity and quality. The growth of e-commerce has resulted in some diversities of distribution channels, and its characteristics of not-spot trading and limited market scale has urged the on-line market to play a role of assistance to off-line market. e-Commerce causes not only the flow of forward logistics, but also that of reverse logistics with every purchasing, which is a very critical factor to hesitate for consumers to purchase the products as well as increase the price of the products. Concern about the reverse logistics by sellers and buyers influences the level of price and purchasing activity of consumers. This study firstly is to lift the awareness of the efficient control of reverse logistics with reviewing the recent change of logistics environment and phenomena of reverse logistics. Secondly we find the factors generating the reverse logistics and look into its questions, and thirdly offer not only the ways to minimize the phenomena of reverse logistics, but also a efficient control system for reverse logistics. We additionally aim to contribute to prevent the price of the products from rising and raise the customers' satisfaction through minimizing the phase of reverse logistics.

  • e-Marketplace is a business concept which is importantly considered in the area of marketing. e-Marketplace provides the public field in which multi-purchasers can efficiently trade with multi-suppliers. Supply Chain Management(SCM) is being widely acknowledged by the development of information technology. SCM is well known as one of the key issues lately. The complexity of supply chains and the associated potential opportunities for gaining a competitive edge by designing a product and process to support supply chain management can be significant. In order to achieve successful implementation of supply chain management system, companies should understand some barriers in implementation and set up effective and integrated information system. Standardization of logistics is needed through the unification of EDI, Bar Code, Pallet and so on. It's effect is magnified on Efficient Consumer Response such as efficient store assortment, efficient replenishment, efficient promotion and efficient product introduction. International logistics management is the integration of key business processes from original suppliers to end user that provides products, services and information that add value for customers. e-Logistics is being used in managing the international logistics. In this study, three basic e-SCM models for the strategic implementation of supply chain management are suggested. Among them, the virtual company can be the best one we can develop in order to cope with the individualized customer needs.

  • China's e-waste enterprises can decompose 150 million sets of e-waste every year, but in fact, only about 50% of the e-waste goes into formal recycling due to the informal recycling of individual small businesses. The purpose of this paper is to put forward the method for users to improve the reuse times through regular e-waste recycling enterprises. This paper constructs the evaluation factors of reuse logistics service through prior research. Exogenous variables are mainly composed of the management system, economics, resources, policies, social perspectives, and service quality. In addition, the authors choose intention to reuse as an endogenous variable. A total of 335 questionnaires were collected to conduct the research with the structural equation modeling. The results reject the hypothesis that economics, resources, and social perspectives have a positive impact on reuse. On the contrary, management systems, policies, and service quality have a positive impact on reuse. Implications were suggested in the last part of the research.

  • Along the advent of Internet technology, the computing environment has been considerably changed in many application domains. Especially, a lot of researches for e-Logistics have been done for the last 3 years. The e-Logistics means the virtual business activity and service architecture among the logistics companies based on the Internet technology. To construct effectively the e-Logistics framework, researches on the development of the Moving Object Technology(MOT) including GPS and GIS with spatiotemporal databases technique so far has been done The Moving Object Technology stands for the efficient management for the spatiotemporal objects such as vehicles, airplanes, and vessels which change continuously their spatial location along with time flows. However, most systems manage just only the location information detected lately by many reasons so that the uncertainty processing for the past and future location of the moving objects is still very hard. In this paper, we propose the moving object uncertainty model and system design for e-Logistics applications. The MOMS architecture in e-Logistics is suggested and the detailed explain of sub-systems including the uncertainty processor of moving objects is described. We also explain the comprehensive examples of MOMS and uncertainty processing in Delivery Parcel Application that is one of major application of e-Logistics domain.

  • A large number of industry and trade circulation enterprises integrate logistics resource. They give links of product transport to some professional logistics enterprises in order to reduce costs. We call these professional logistics enterprises as the Third-party Logistics. As the development of the computer and internet, the suppliers, buyers and the Third-party Enterprises connect each other with internet. And different company use different management software, so heterogeneous data become a big problem of the information system for Third-party Enterprises. We built the logistics ontology with prot$\'{e}$g$\'{e}$, and translate it in OWL. We also built the rules for Logistics Ontology to improve the limitations of the OWL. Then we design the intelligent system for 3PL Enterprises Distribution Center based on Logistics Ontology and Logistics Rules. At final, we give an example to show the workflow visually.

  • The integration and union of regional digital map and vehicle location data in e-Logistics which means virtual service architecture based on the Internet among the logistics companies is indispensable clause in order to satisfy the visibility characteristics. Most conventional vehicle monitoring and controlling systems were constructed with individual and mutual exclusive architecture so that there are required lots of cost for sharing and integrating the information among them. In this paper, we design and implement an component-based open system which represent moving object location information as well as digital map using the GML(Geography Markup Language - international standard encoding based on XML). We also test proposed system on the delivery vehicle scenario in e-Logistics environment, and validate its superior in terms of extensibility and interoperability.

  • Logistics centers, distribution centers, or warehouse facilities increasingly dominate urban and suburban landscapes, their enormous but blank, repetitive facades completely overshadowing adjacent buildings. Mostly ignored by architects, this new building type symbolically represents the arrival of post-anthropocene, or post-urbicene era of architecture, in which an increasing portion of our built environment will not be intended for human occupancy, but rather for use by machines and artificial intelligence. As a new wave of logistics centers are becoming more automated, and more supersized, it is important to deepen architects' understanding of the organizational logic and programming factors that inform the overall design decisions for these facilities. With a particular focus on three case studies--Coupang, E-Mart, and Amazon Fulfillment Centers, this research examines the current trends in automation and expansion of logistics centers, and offers an analysis and forecast for future facilities in South Korea.
