  • Home healthcare system has lot of things to do for the integration with medical instruments in the sense of standardization. We will design and implement mobile healthcare system based on smart gateway thru adaptation of ISO/IEEE 11073, and HL7 standard. And also we are willing to research heart rate monitor, pulse-oxygen meter and ECG monitor in order to develop mobile healthcare system for medical appliance. We studied the connection of standard medical devices, i.e, continua health alliance under the Android 4.x Bluetooth HDP(Health Device Profile) environments. We also tried to implement healthcare system which can support diagnosis for healthcare provider and user based on HL7 standard.

  • Entering aging society and increasing individual's interests on wellbeing lead to increasing demands of healthcare service and various healthcare related applications are providedon app market or Internet. These healthcare services could enhance user's health status if the users continuously use the service. In order to enhance effectiveness of a healthcare service, the service user should comply with recommendations or directions are provided by the service. However, previous studies of healthcare service are not considered effects of compliance intention on continuous usage. Hence, we tested how user's compliance intention effect on continuous usage intention of healthcare service based on theories of information system and medical information. Moreover, we found that compliance intention of users for healthcare service is an important factor on sustainability of healthcare service. Additionally, we investigated what factors are related with user's compliance intention.

  • Preconstruction process in a lean project delivery system was studied in one large healthcare project working for a general contractor. Researchers joined a new lean delivery project for approximately six weeks and participated in preconstruction process including design coordination, management coordination, and target costing while concurrently interviewing other project participants and employees, recording activity in meetings, and otherwise observing the process. The preconstruction process in lean project delivery system, called integrated project design, showed many benefits such as brining expertise of downstream players (i.e., mechanical and electrical contractors) into the design phase. However, lack of leadership and lack of design-integrator blocked the successful application of a new concept of design process.

  • Over the last few years knowledge management has become more and more impotant part of the in healthcare practices. Therefore the healthcare organisatiions have also begun to apply knowlege management strategies. To address this issue of the lack of true knowledge management in healthcare enterprises, we propose a framework for common Healthcare Knowledge Management. This framework is made up of two suites of applications and services, i.e. the intelligent agent-based knowledge management application suite and the strategic visualisation, planning and coalition formation service suite.

  • In this paper, we study the problem of how to design a medical-grade wireless local area network (WLAN) for healthcare facilities. First, unlike the IEEE 802.11e MAC, which categorizes traffic primarily by their delay constraints, we prioritize medical applications according to their medical urgency. Second, we propose a mechanism that can guarantee absolute priority to each traffic category, which is critical for medical-grade quality of service (QoS), while the conventional 802.11e MAC only provides relative priority to each traffic category. Based on absolute priority, we focus on the performance of real-time patient monitoring applications, and derive the optimal contention window size that can significantly improve the throughput performance. Finally, for proper performance evaluation from a medical viewpoint, we introduce the weighted diagnostic distortion (WDD) as a medical QoS metric to effectively measure the medical diagnosability by extracting the main diagnostic features of medical signal. Our simulation result shows that the proposed mechanism, together with medical categorization using absolute priority, can significantly improve the medical-grade QoS performance over the conventional IEEE 802.11e MAC.

  • This paper is intended to suggest some reference materials for future specialization of university education about healthcare facility design in Korea, by reviewing the degree systems and curriculum of 5 universities where architecture departments have specialized program for healthcare facility design in USA. Research method includes the navigation of related homepages, the e-mail contacts with the professors in charge, and the analysis of collected materials. Some conclusions can be summarized as following : Degrees of the specialized programs under concentration or track system are awarded as the same title as master program in the department of Architecture. Specialized education programs can be largely classified by concentration/track systems( Clemson University, University of Kansas and Arizona State University) which are operated independently in general and certificate system(Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University) which adds some healthcare related courses to general master program in the department of Architecture. As distinctive curriculum from 5 Universities, Clemson University which offers almost courses related to healthcare facility design, University of Kansas which provides internships(6 credits each) for summer term & fall semester of 2nd year, and Texas Tech University where certificate program is co-operated by architecture and nursing department can be mentioned. In order to pursuit the specialization of university education about healthcare facility design in the department of Architecture, it would be desirable to proceed it after setting the direction such as concentration, track or certificate system according to the various circumstances & conditions of the department concerned.

  • To ensure privacy of individual information in remote healthcare service, health data should be protected through a secure technology such as encryption scheme. Only user who delegated decryption right can access to sensitive health data and delegator needs capability for revocating access privilege. Recently, in ubiquitous environment, CP-ABTD(Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Threshold Decryption with Flexible Delegation and Revocation of User Attributes) which extends CP-ABE(Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption) has been proposed for these requirements. In this paper, we construct remote healthcare monitoring system with delegation and revocation capability for attribute in CP-ABTD. Finally, we analyze collusion attack between users in our system.

  • As the organizational environments are changing, organizational innovation has become a critical success factor for the healthcare organizations. Although there are lots of successful innovation cases in other industries, healthcare organization's management innovation cases are rare in Korea. This case study is focused on successful change process of a Maeumsarang psychiatric hospital. Main findings are: (a) virtuous cycle of healthcare service innovation and organizational innovation, (b) intensive training and learning, (c) usage of external resources, (d) high commitment HRM system, (e) CEO leadership, and (f) synchronization of planning and execution. Based on these findings, managerial implications are derived and future research directions are proposed.

  • Healthcare design is always challenged to come up with the rapid changes in healthcare system and industry as well as complicated planning requirements. This thesis aims to grab good instructions from Louis I Kahn who designed more than 15 healthcare projects during his entire life, from the winning project of the student competition in 1920 to Ayub hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh after his death. His many hospital projects are deeply related to his famous projects such as Yale Art gallery, Philips Exeter Library, and Sher-E-Bangla Nagar national capital of assembly hall. But, it is not easy to find the researches about his hospital projects among many books and theses about him. Thus, this thesis investigates them and their contextual and historical relationships in order to find the way to apply his knowledge and philosophy about healthcare design to the modern hospital projects. We expect that it will promote more following researches for his healthcare projects.

  • We build middleware architecture with J2EE and LiveGraph to process different ubiquitous healthcare application's data and process that data into useful information, which can play a most important role in decision making in ubiquitous Healthcare System. Application developers mostly rely on third party middleware, tools and libraries (i.e., webservers, distributed middleware such as CORBA, etc.) to respond the emerging trends of their target domain. With this middleware we tried to enhance the efficiency of application by decrease their memory uses, data processing and decision making on another web module which is independent of each application. For middleware system, we proposed an algorithm by which we can find some important conclusion about different health status likewise ECG, Accelerometer. etc., which can be used in various data processing and determine the current health status. In this paper we also analyze some different low level and high level middleware technology which were used to build different kind middleware likewise CAMUS, MiLAN and try to find the best solution in the form of middleware for Ubiquitous Healthcare Information System.
