  • This paper presents a new motor design well suited for an advanced exercise bike. The advanced exercise bike setup high demands for performance and physical dimensions, which is high torque, wide speed range and a diameter/length ratio around 5. These requirements makes the new motor design called an E-core Transverse Flu Machine (ETFM) vev interesting because the segmented design of the stator and rotor poles enables high diameter without increasing the flux-path and since the ETFM is similar to the switched reluctance motor, high torque and wide speed range is possible. The design of the ETFM can be peformed using a developed design program, which is also introduced in the paper. A prototype of the exercise bike with the ETFM and a classical H-bridge converter with analog current control is constructed for verification of the concept.

전문가 사사 R&E에서 과학영재의 행위주체적 연구 참여를 지원하는 교수적 특성 -교수자와 학생의 위치짓기를 중심으로- (Pedagogical Characteristics Supporting Gifted Science Students' Agentic Participation in the Scientist-led Research and Education (R&E) Program: Focusing on the Positioning of Instructors and Students)

  • R&E 활동은 과학영재 학생이 이공계 전문 연구자의 지도를 받으며 연구 역량을 강화하는 것을 목표로 한다. 하지만 실제 전문가 사사 R&E 활동에서 학생의 연구 경험은 과학자 주도의 연구 이해부터 직접적인 연구 참여까지 다양하게 나타난다. 본 연구에서는 후자와 같은 R&E 활동 참여를 학생의 행위주체적 연구 참여로 보는 관점하에서, 과학영재의 행위주체적 연구 참여를 지원한 교수적 특성을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 영재학교에서 운영된 R&E 활동에서 형성된 4개 팀에 속한 학생, 교수, 조교를 대상으로 면담을 약 3개월 간격으로 실시했다. 면담에서는 R&E 활동에 대한 인식, R&E 활동에서의 학생 활동, 지도 교수 및 조교의 지원 등을 다루었고, 면담 내용은 녹음 및 전사하여 분석 자료로 활용했다. 분석 과정에서는 면담 항목들에 대한 연구참여자들의 응답을 바탕으로 각 팀의 활동 과정을 정리하고, 활동 과정에서의 교수자와 학생의 위치짓기 변화 과정과 행위주체성의 발현 양상을 도출했다. 그리고 학생의 행위주체적 연구 참여를 지원한 교수 에피소드로부터 나타나는 교수적 특성을 귀납적으로 도출했다. 과학영재의 행위주체성 발현은 행위주체성의 지속적 발현, 행위주체성의 발현 및 좌절, 행위주체성의 지속적 미발현으로 3가지 유형으로 도출되었다. 각 유형의 행위주체성 발현 과정에 영향을 미친 교수적 특성은 과학영재의 연구 운영 참여 기회 개방, 학생이 전문성 있는 의견을 제시할 수 있도록 지원하는 교수자-학생 간 상호작용의 측면에서 도출되었다. 본 연구는 R&E 활동에서 과학영재 학생의 행위주체성을 지원하는 교수 방안을 마련하는 데에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

슬링운동치료에서 Hanging Point의 원리와 임상적 적용 (A Clinical Application with the Principle of Hanging Point In the Sling Exercise Therapy)

  • Sling exercise treatment(S-E-T) is a therapeutic exercise based on scientific studies for the purpose of treating musculoskeletal or neurological disorders thereby improving strength, endurance, and skills for sensory-motor integration. Exercise resistance and intensity can be modified in various ways by changing the length of rope, patient position, therapist's manual resistance, and using elastic rope. The therapist can also progress to successively higher levels of exercise resistance and intensity by changing the position of the hanging point: the subject of this article. In brief, there are three axial components in S-E-T; hanging point, motor axis, and suspension point. The hanging point can be changed in several ways in relation to the joint; axial, superior, inferior, medial, and posterior hanging points. The position of the hanging point affects the amount of load on agonist and antagonist muscles as well as on the range of motion. To create an advanced exercise program, selection of hanging point can be two-dimensional such as superior-lateral or anterior-medial. Therapists, therefore, can freely but carefully select the best hanging point based on the purpose of the exercise and their level of knowledge in S-E-T.

춘천지역 일부 비만인 성인대상 식생활교육과 운동중재 프로그램의 효과평가 (Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Dietary Education and Exercise Program on Obese Adults in Chuncheon Area)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention program using dietary consult and physical exercise conducted by public health center in Chuncheon city for obese adults. This study used a pretest-posttest design. The subjects were 58 out of 90 obese adults with body mass index (BMI) greater than $25kg/m^2$ who completed all education sessions for 8 weeks. Data on dietary habits, dietary behaviors, nutritional knowledge, anthropometric parameters and biochemical indices and daily nutrient intakes assessed by a 24-hour recall were collected before and after the intervention program., in order to evaluate program effectiveness. After the intervention, there were positive changes in exercise status and dietary habits and nutrition knowledge accuracy. Especially, the answer of 'I drink a cup of milk every day' were significantly improved (p<0.001), and the answer of 'I don't overeat', which is a dietary attitude question was significantly improved (p<0.05). Dietary intakes of most of nutrients were not significantly different between pre-test and post-test. But calcium (p<0.05), potassium (p<0.05), vitamin A (p<0.01), vitamin E (p<0.05), and folic acid (p<0.05) were significantly increased in the female group after the intervention. Weight (p<0.05), BMI (p<0.01), blood pressure (p<0.001), were significantly decreased after program, but changes of skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass were not significant. Resting heart rate (p<0.01), flexibility (p<0.001), whole body reaction (p<0.05), grip strength (p<0.01) and balance (p<0.01) showed positive changes after the intervention. Blood glucose level in serum was significantly decreased (p<0.001). These results indicated that dietary education and exercise program was effective not only for weight reduction but also for the improvement of physical fitness in obese adults.

유능감 강화 체중 조절 프로그램의 효과 (The Effects of a Weight Control Program with Competence)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of a weight control program and compliancy in overweight women. Method: This program was composed of strategies to modify diet and exercise and to change compliance and self determination over an 8 week period. The subjects were 19 overweight women who participated in our project voluntarily. Data was collected from May 4 to Jun 30 of 2007. The program consisted of regular rapid walking exercise, diet, mobile phone messages and e-mail. The data was analyzed by Repeated Measures ANOVA using the SPSS WIN program. Result: According to 3 assessment periods, there were significant differences in body weight, body mass index, and compliance. There were no significant differences in self determination. Conclusion: These findings suggest that more intensive interventions may be needed to demonstrate a change in self determination.

탄력 밴드를 이용한 유산소운동이 유방절제술여성의 신체적 기능과 신체상에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Aerobic Exercise Using a Flex-band on Physical Functions & Body Image in Women Undergoing Radiation Therapy after a Mastectomy)

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of aerobic exercise using a flex band on the improvement of physical functions & body image in breast cancer women undergoing radiation therapy after a mastectomy. Method: Women with breast cancer(n =26) were assigned to an experimental group(EG, n = 15) and control group(CG, n = 11). The E.G participated in an aerobic exercise program with a 60% to 80% intensity of maximal heart rate for 25 minutes during the main exercise, 3 times per week, for 6 weeks. The EG did not exercise regularly for 3 months before participating in this program. The CG received no exercise treatment during the research period. Data were analyzed using the $x^2-test$ and Mann-Whitney U test by the SPSS version 11.0 program at a 5% significant level. Results: Group analysis revealed that the EGwomen had significantly more improved cardio-pulmonary functions, ROM of the affected shoulder joint, and body image compared to the CG, Conclusion: Aerobic exercise using a flex band may be an effective rehabilitative measure for mastectomy women with respect to cardio-pulmonary functions, ROM, & body image. Further studies are recommended to study early rehabilitation programs within 10 days post-operatively.

8주간 복싱 복합트레이닝이 남자 대학생의 심폐기능과 건강관련체력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of 8 Week Boxing Combined Training on Health Related Physical Fitness and Cardiopulmonary Function in Male College Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of boxing combined training on cardiopulmonary function and health-related fitness in male college students over a period of eight weeks. Methods: Eighteen male students were randomly assigned to the following groups: boxing exercise (n=6), aerobic exercise e(n=6), and non-exercise (n=6). The exercise program was conducted for 50 minutes every three weeks, for a total of eight weeks. After eight weeks, the factors that affected the measurement variables were analyzed, and the following results were obtained. Results: Participants in the eight-week boxing exercise group and the aerobic exercise group showed significantly increased maximal oxygen, which was not observed in the control group. The body mass index decreased in the aerobic exercise group, but did not significantly differ between the boxing exercise and control groups. Body fat (%) and abdominal fat (%) significantly decreased in all exercise groups, but significantly increased in the control group. Skeletal muscle mass increased in the boxing exercise group, but did not significantly differ between the boxing, aerobic exercise, and control groups. Muscular strength and muscular endurance increased in both exercise group, but did not change in the control group. Flexibility showed no differences between the groups. Conclusions: In conclusion, an eight-week boxing exercise program for college students showed positive effects on cardiorespiratory function and health-related fitness.

BIOFIT - Smart, Portable, Wearable and Wireless Digital Exercise Trainer Device with Biofeedback Capability

  • Today Human Personal Trainers are becoming very famous in this health conscious world. They teach user to achieve fitness goals in managed way. Due to their high fee and tight schedule they are unavailable to mass number of people. Another solution to this problem is to develop digital personal trainer portable instrument that may replace human personal trainers. We developed a portable digital exercise trainer device - BIOFIT that manages, monitors and records the user's physical status and workout during exercise session. It guides the user to exercise efficiently for specific fitness goal. It keeps the full exercise program i.e. exercises start date and time, duration, mode, control parameter, intensity in its memory which helps the user in managing his exercise. Exercise program can be downloaded from the internet. During exercise it continuously monitors the user's physiological parameters: heart rate, number of steps walked, and energy consumed. If these parameters do not range within prescribed target zone, the BIOFIT will alarm the user as a feedback to control exercise. The BIOFIT displays these parameters on graphic LCD. During exercise it continuously records the heart rate and number of steps walked every 10 seconds along with exercise date and time. This stored information can be used as treatment for the user by an exercise expert. Real-time ECG monitoring can be viewed wirelessly (RF Communication) on a remote PC.

컴퓨터 알고리즘 교육을 위한 온라인 알고리즘 뱅크 구현 (Design and Implementation of Online Algorithm Bank for Algorithm E-learning)

  • 온라인상에서 교육 내용의 전달은 많은 방법들이 개발되어 있지만 컴퓨터 언어 및 알고리즘의 e-learning과 실습은 웹상에서 프로그램 실습의 어려움으로 인하여 이론과 실습이 병행되지 못하여 왔다. 본 논문에서는 알고리즘을 검색하고 관리할 수 있는 뱅크를 구축하고 실행 인터페이스를 만들어, 학생들이 직접 웹상에서 각각의 프로그램들을 실행시킬 뿐 아니라 프로그램을 수정하여 실행할 수 있도록 하였다. 웹상에서 실습을 통한 알고리즘 뱅크 시스템은 실습 환경 구축과 적응에 대한 어려움을 없앰으로써 컴퓨터 알고리즘 학습에 대한 거리감을 없애는 효과가 있다.

혈액투석환자에서 문자메시지(SMS), 이메일 및 전화를 이용한 자가간호 프로그램이 자가간호 이행과 영양 상태에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Self-care Program Using SMS, E-mail, or Telephone Call on Self-care Compliance and Nutritional Status in Hemodialysis Patients)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of self-care program using Short message service (SMS), e-mail, or telephone call on self-care compliance and nutritional status in maintenance of hemodialysis patient. Methods: Nonequivalent pretest-posttest control experimental design was used. Ninety-six patients were allocated to control (n=24), SMS (n=24), e-mail (n=24), or telephone (n=24) group from four hospitals. Experimental groups received self-care program about hemodialysis diet, drug administration, exercise, and fistula care by SMS, e-mail, or telephone call respectively at 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Results: Subjective self-care compliance, and objective self-care compliance including interdialytic weight of SMS and telephone groups were significantly increased than those of control groups. However, nutritional status of SMS and e-mail groups were significantly improved than those of control groups in albumin and protein level. Conclusion: Self-care program using SMS and telephone call were effective on promoting self-care compliance, while SMS and e-mail were effective on improving nutritional status. The pop-up remaining effect and easy accessible effect of SMS message in busy daily life was considered as an alarm to control fluid and diet.
