Development of E-Book Reader System for Q+Platform (전자책 유통을 위한 리더 시스템 개발)

  • Q+-reader, an E-Book reader system for XML based contents is introduced, The system is developed for the embedded platform, called Q+, which targets for the digital home electronics systems, The system supports XML contents and CSS based styling as described in Open e-book standard. The system renders the e-book contents for users, sc the contents are secured for a proper use. This will found an essential part of business infra for electronic books with copyright protection, The system was developed in Java language to be used in various platform;, and has an open architecture to be reusable for other standards as well.

  • 본 논문은 전자책 제작 Sigil 환경과 C 프로그램 환경을 이용하여 전자책 ePub과 서버, 클라이언트 통신을 통해 인증정보를 사용한 전자책의 저작권 보호 시스템을 설계한다. 서버와 클라이언트 통신을 통해 전자책의 인증정보를 이용하여 사용 권한 유무를 판별한다. 나날이 불법적인 방법으로 전자책을 구입하는 경우 저작권의 보호를 받지 못해 큰 피해를 입는 사람들이 많다. 본 논문은 전자책 ePub의 인증정보를 이용한 저작권 보호 프로그램을 개발하여 전자책의 인증정보가 조건에 만족한다면 전자책을 열람하고, 조건에 만족하지 않는다면 프로그램을 종료함으로서 악의적인 사용자가 전자책의 접근을 할 수 없도록 한다.

A Study on the coverage of e-commerce insurance (전자상거래 보험의 담보범위에 관한 고찰)

  • Todays, computers in business world are potent facilitators that most companies could not without them, while they are only tools. They offer extremely efficient means of communication, particularly when connected to Internet. What I stress in this article is the risks accompanied by e-commerce rather than the advantages of Internet or e-commerce. The management of e-commerce companies, therefore, should keep in mind that the benefit of e-commerce through the Internet are accompanied by enhanced and new risks, cyber risks or e-commerce risks. For example, companies are exposed to computer system breakdown and business interruption risks owing to traditional and physical risks such as theft and fire etc, computer programming errors and defect softwares and outsider's attack such as hacking and virus. E-commerce companies are also exposed to tort liabilities owing to defamation, the infringement of intellectual property such as copyright, trademark and patent right, negligent misrepresent and breach of confidential information or privacy infringement. In this article, I would like to suggest e-commerce insurance or cyber liability insurance as a means of risk management rather than some technical devices, because there is not technically perfect defence against cyber risks. But e-commerce insurance has some gaps between risks confronted by companies and coverage needed by them, because it is at most 6 or 7 years since it has been introduced to market. Nevertheless, in my opinion, e-commerce insurance has offered the most perfect defence against cyber risks to e-commerce companies up to now.

  • Currently, the market of digital contents such as e-books, cartoons and webtoons is growing up, but the copyrights infringement are serious issue due to their distribution through illegal ways. However, the technologies for copyright protection are not developed enough. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the NSS-based publication classification method for copyright protection. Using histogram calculated by NSS, we propose classification method for digital contents using SVM. The proposed algorithm will be useful for copyright protection because it lets us distinguish illegal distributed digital contents more easily.

A Study on E-Book Conflicts and Type of License (전자책 갈등과 라이선스 유형에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a reasonable improvement plan for e-book licenses as a prerequisite for the continued operation of library e-book services. The study aims to understand the fierce conflict surrounding e-book licenses between domestic libraries and the publishing industry and to propose solutions based on this understanding. To achieve this, the legal meaning of e-book licenses is analyzed, and the fundamental reasons for conflict between the publishing industry and libraries are examined in relation to the characteristics of e-books. In addition, various types of e-book licenses are classified, and the status of library e-book licenses and conflicts in major countries around the world, including Korea, the United States, Germany, France, and Japan, are investigated. Based on this, implications that can help resolve domestic issues are presented.

  • 컴퓨터의 등장과 과학기술의 발달로 인하여 기존의 종이를 이용한 정보의 전달과 보급에서 점차 전자 매체를 이용하는 방향으로 전환되고 있다. 이러한 변화와 더불어 인터넷과 전자상거래의 비약적인 발전은 전자북이라는 새로운 형태로 정보의 제공 및 보급을 위한 모델을 창출하기에 이르렀다. 그러나 디지털 컨텐츠를 이용하는 전자북 시스템은 컨텐츠의 특성상 복사와 배포의 유연성으로 말미암아 저작권 보호라는 중대한 난점을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 전자북 시스템의 컨텐츠를 가변적 암호키를 사용하여 사용자측에서 재생산하는 방식을 제안함으로써 전자북 컨텐츠와 저작권 보호를 위한 전자북 보급 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다.

  • 글자체(폰트)는 저작권으로 보호받지 못하지만 글자(폰트)프로그램은 저작권법 컴퓨터 프로그램 보호 규정에 따라 저작물로 보호된다. 저작권법이 글자체 그 자체는 보호하지 않지만, 컴퓨터프로그램으로 보호하는 양극간의 괴리 때문에 폰트 제작 회사가 무리한 법적용을 폰트 사용 편집회사들에게 주장하는 경우가 자주 발생하고 있다. 본고에서는 폰트 프로그램의 저작권 적용 범위를 확인하고 위반이 되는 경우와 그렇지 않은 경우를 구별한 뒤, 폰트 제작 회사의 실제 사례를 예로 들어 문제점을 밝혀보기로 한다.

  • 본 논문은 전자책 저작권과 소유권을 보호하기 위한 방법으로 워터마킹과 Proactive Pseudorandomness(PP) protocol 을 이용하여 secure multiparty 저작권 인증시스템을 제시한다. 그러므로 전자책 저자와 사용자와의 1 대 1 대응으로 제 3 의 인증기관없이 신속하고, 해킹에 능동적이며, 효율적인 인증시스템이 된다.

Characteristics and Current Status of Library E-book Purchase Contracts (도서관의 전자책 수급 계약의 특성과 실태)

  • This study aims to check whether e-book purchase contracts have sufficient requirements to serve as legal basis for e-book lending outside the library, and also to understand the current status and characteristics of the library's e-book purchase contracts. To this end, the legal and technical environment related to e-book lending was reviewed, and the elements that must be included in the license contract were summarized as the legal basis for e-book lending. Based on this, it was analyzed whether these requirements were properly reflected in actual contract cases. For three years from 2020 to 2022, the actual 43 contracts that were bid through the Korea On-line E-Procurement System were inspected, and then problems were pointed out, and improvement measures were proposed.
