Cancer is a major health problem in Oman. It is reported that cancer incidence in Oman is the second highest after Saudi Arabia among Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Based on GLOBOCAN estimates, Oman is predicted to face an almost two-fold increase in cancer incidence in the period 2008-2020. However, cancer research in Oman is still in its infancy. This is due to the fact that medical institutions and infrastructure that play central roles in data collection and analysis are relatively new developments in Oman. We believe the country requires an organized plan and efforts to promote local cancer research. In this paper, we discuss current research progress in cancer diagnosis using machine learning techniques to optimize computer aided cancer detection and classification (CAD). We specifically discuss CAD using two major medical data, i.e., medical imaging and microarray gene expression profiling, because medical imaging like mammography, MRI, and PET have been widely used in Oman for assisting radiologists in early cancer diagnosis and microarray data have been proven to be a reliable source for differential diagnosis. We also discuss future cancer research directions and benefits to Oman economy for entering the cancer research and treatment business as it is a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide.

The author Nakajima was involved in the field of disaster communications and emergency medical care as guest research scientist at the Fukushima Nuclear Accident Independent Investigation Commission established by the National Diet of Japan and reviewer of the Commission's report, and Kurokawa was the chairman of this Commission. Looking back over a decade, we are on the liability issue of bureaucrats and telecom operators, so it's becoming clear what was hidden at the time. The battery of NTT DoCoMo's mobile phone repeaters had a capacity of only about 24 hours, and communication failures increased after one day. The Government also failed to issue an announcement of "Vent from reactor" under the Telecommunications Act Article No. 129. This mistake lost the opportunity to use the third-party telecommunications (e.g. taxi radios). Furthermore, as a result of LASCOM (telecommunications satellite network for local governments via GEO) and a variety of unexpected communication failures, the evacuation order "Escape!" could not be notified to the general public well. As a result, the general public was exposed to unnecessary radiation exposure. Such bureaucratic slow action in emergencies is common in the response to the 2020 coronavirus.

Vehicle Inspection System is to examine the condition of vehicle regularly at the national level to protect lives and properties of the people from traffic accidents due to vehicle's fault. However, the vehicle inspection method, criteria, period and effectiveness have become a controversial issue, because of examining safety management of vehicle by drivers regardless of regular vehicle inspection. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate vehicle inspection timeliness and risk level of inspection items through basic statistical survey and portfolio analysis. The results of the research through practical analysis are: (1) The inspection failure rates between 3 and 6 model year tend to increase. (2) The failure of inspection items for safety highly impacts on traffic accident rate in terms of accident risks. (3) According to the result of portfolio analysis, faulty items located 1st quadrant are riding device, driveline system, controlling device, steering actuator, and fuel system.

Major research themes, concepts, methodologies, and phenomena in the psychology of perception are reviewed in the present paper with an eye to exploring its possible contributions to methodological as well as theoretical development in cognitive science are proposed in this paper:Computational, intentional-descriptive, and eclectic. An emphasis is placed on how to propose issues in the psychology of perception from cognitive science views.Also explored in detail are possible ways to promote fruitful interactions among several fields in cognitive science, e.g., artificial intelligence, perceptual-cognitive psychology, and neuro-science.One approach is to consider psychology of perception's basic concepts, methodologies, and phenomena that call for the attention of researchers in neighboring fields in cognitive science.Finally discussed is what perception researchers should do in adoptiong a much briader view of perceptual structure and processes, that is, a cognitive science view.

In this study, we analyzed two types of echolocation calls used by the parti-coloured bat, Vespertilio sinensis. Bats were captured in the Naejangsan National Park in October 2013. Call sounds of hand-released bats were recorded at the location of capture within the National Park. We analyzed pulse duration (PD), pulse interval (PI), peak frequency (PF), maximum frequency ($F_{MAX}$), minimum frequency ($F_{MIN}$), and bandwidth (BW). V. sinensis emitted the different types of the echolocation calls depending on the surrounding environment. Frequency modulated-constant frequency (FM-CF) signal of audible range was emitted when they flew in the uncluttered space over the canopy. However, when flying in the cluttered space below the canopy, they only emitted FM signal. FM-CF signal is in the audible range (e.g., low frequency), and FM signal has a harmonic broadband frequency range of two. There were significant differences in PD, PI, PF, FMAX, FMIN, and BW between the calls emitted over and below the canopy. Considering the functional characteristics of FM and CF signals, we conclude that the foraging activity of V. sinensis was observed below the canopy, and recommend the use of FM signal and broadband as echolocation signals.

The purpose: This study was to describe the spiritual nursing care experiences of nursing students who were in a university, Seoul, Korea. Method: This study is based on descriptive analysis of case studies that were submitted by nursing students. Nursing students were 64 person who were sophomores in a university of the year 2000, 2001. Results: 1. The problems that students report for their subjects were: Loss of self-confidence, body image complex, health status problems, maladaptability, economic problems of home, guilty feeling, problems with dating, loneliness, uncertainty of their future, faith problem, accountability, stress and apart from intimate friends. 2. The methods which students use to solve the subjects's problems were: prayer with subjects, use the Scripture, conversation, meet frequently, listening, frequent phone call, explore problem solving methods together, write letters or E-mails, present with books or music CD etc. 3. After the students have experienced spiritual nursing care they feel that: satisfaction, lack of knowledge of spiritual care, understanding the importance of spiritual nursing care make a new resolution for others, understanding the importance of listening, understanding the power of prayer, the need of Bible study. Conclusion: Maintaining spiritual wellness is a important as maintaining physical fitness and essential for optimal well being. Therefore educating nursing students in developing and maintaining spiritual wellness is essential for the patient to achieve holism.

The nominative and accusative postpositions in Korean may intervene between the negative auxiliary verb ANH and its complement verb phrase. As Korean is an OV language, this means that 'verb + {nom, acc} + ANH' as well as the simpler concatenation 'verb + ANH' is possible. This fact, together with an overwhelming regularity of these postpositions' optionality in virtually all constructions, poses a problem for formal approaches to the syntax of the language. Working in a constraint-based grammatical framework shaped by such works as Sag and Wasow (1999) and Copestake (2002), we put forth type hierarchies for major_class, which represents verb inflection, and for pos, which has two immediate subtypes, i.e., htrp_pos and ord_pos. What we call the 'half transparency' of the case postpositions separates them from all the other lexical items in the language. The type htrp_pos is used to constrain one of the two newly proposed head_comp_rules, where a newly proposed feature HEAD2 of a phrase inherits its value from the HEAD feature of the head word. The COMPS list of the negative auxiliary ANH is seen as containing a single phrase whose HEAD is a kind of nominal clause and whose HEAD2 is something that is one of the three maximal types: acc, nom, and null.

In the VTS, the predictions of vessel mobility and situation awareness of maritime environment are basic function. In recent years, pilotage information is an essential aware element of VTS personnel for vessel traffic management. So, we designed the structure of pilotage information service with VTS and tested in real environment. In the future, similar pilotage information can be used as a useful VTS service.

This paper presents effective quality-of-service renegotiating schemes for streaming video. The conventional network supporting quality-of-service generally allows a negotiation at call setup. However, it is not efficient for the video application since the compressed video traffic is statistically non-stationary. Thus, we consider the network supporting quality-of-service renegotiations during the data transmission, and study effective quality-of-service renegotiating schemes for streaming video. Simple token bucket model, whose parameters are token filling rate and token bucket size, is adopted for the video traffic model. The renegotiating time instants and the parameters are determined by analyzing the statistical information of compressed video traffic. In this paper, two renegotiating approaches, i.e. fixed renegotiating interval case and variable renegotiating interval case, are examined. Finally, the experimental results are provided to show the performance of the proposed schemes.
