The usages of urban riverine areas for the Gapchoen and Yudungcheon in Daejoen City were evaluated by analyzing riverbed characteristics and water quality and by surveying the status of the floodplain usage including questionnaires of people visiting the rivers. Both rivers appear to be stable with insignificant bed changes as the riverbeds are dominated by gravels. Water qualities of both rivers have been improved significantly over the past decade although there are quite large seasonal fluctuations, which is common in most rivers in Korea. The results of floodplain usage analyses show that Gapcheon is dominated with static uses (>70%) such as promenades and resting facilities, while Yudungcheon by dynamic uses (>44%) such as sports facilities. Overall, both rivers require better plans for riverine area usage management considering a balance between the dynamic uses and the static uses such as natural observation places for education and habitats for birds and fish in the rivers. The questionnaire survey results indicate that overall the present status of both rivers are satisfactory and that water quality improvement is one of the key factors to enhance the value of the riverine areas. Future river restoration should be conducted by taking into account the characteristics of urban rivers in harmony with surrounding natural sceneries.
Three representative dam-break models, HEC-1, DAMBRK, and SMPDBK were analyzed respectively in theri theories and then applied to the failure of Teton Dam for which some observed data exist. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that: (1) HEC-1, which uses the hydrologic routing method, produces stable solutions for almost all the cases that were tested in this study; (2) DAMBRK, which uses the dynamic routing method, is most accurate among the three models; (3) SMPDBK, which uses the generalized dynamic routing relationships, is most economical and easily applicable.

Maglev vehicles, which are levitated and propelled by electromagnets, often run on elevated guideways comprised of steel, aluminum and concrete. Therefore, an analysis of the dynamic interaction between the Maglev vehicle and the guideway is needed in the design of the critical speed, ride, controller design and weight reduction of the guideway. This study introduces a dynamic interaction simulation technique that applies FEM. The proposed method uses FEM to model the elevated guideway and the Maglev vehicle, which is different from conventional studies. Because the proposed method uses FEM, it is useful to calculate the deformation of the elevated guideway, the dynamic stress, and the motion of the vehicle. By applying the proposed method to an urban transit Maglev vehicle, UTM01, the dynamic response is simulated according to velocity increase and can be reviewed again. From the result of the study, we concluded that FEM simulation of the dynamic interaction between the maglev vehicle and the guideway is possible.

Neural network control has many innovative potentials for fast, accurate and intelligent adaptive control. In this paper, two kinds of neurocontrol architectures for the dynamic control of robot manipulators are developed. One is based on a System Identification and Control scheme and the other is based on the Feedback-Error leaming scheme. Both of the proposed architectures use an inverse dynamic neurocontroller in parallel with a linear neurocontroller. The difference is that the first architecture uses the system identifier to get the signals used for training neurocontrollers, while the second architecture uses a properly defined energy function. Compared with the previous types of neurocontrollers which are using an inverse dynamic neurocontroller and a fixed PD gain controller, the proposed architectures not only eliminate the painful process of the fixed gain tuning but also exhibit superior peformances because the linear neurocontroller can adapt its gains according to the applied task. This superior performance is tested and verified through computer simulation of the dynamic control of the PUMA 560 arm.
Structural integrity of either a passenger car or a light truck is one of the basic requirements for a full vehicle engineering and development program. The results of the vehicle product performance are measured in terms of ride and handling, durability, noise/vibration/harshness (NVH), crashworthiness and occupant safety. The level of performance of a vehicle directly affects the marketability, profitability and, most importantly, the future of the automobile manufacturer In this study, we used the virtual proving ground (VPG) approach for obtaining the dynamic characteristics. The VPG approach uses a nonlinear dynamic finite element code (LS-DYNA3D) which expands the application boundary outside the classic linear static assumptions. The VPG approach also uses realistic boundary conditions of tire/road surface interactions. To verify the predicted dynamic results, a single lane change test has been performed. The prediction results were compared with the experimental results, and the feasibility of the integrated CAE analysis methodology was verified.
This paper describes the novel real-time embeded Dynamic System Monitor(KDSM) for dynamic device modeling and disturbace monitoring. The KDSM uses the variable resampling technique together with DFT algorithm so that it overcomes the shortcomings of the existing DFT algorithm at the big deviation of network frequency. The suggested algorithm is implemented by using the NI-PXI system, and verified by applying to the generator testing.

This paper designs the dynamic symbol automatic trading system in Korean option market. This system is based on Multichart program which is convenient and efficient system trading tool. But the Multichart has an important restriction which has only one constant symbol per chart. This restriction causes very useful strategies impossible. The proposed design uses global variables, signal chart selection and position order exchange. So an automatic trading system with dynamic symbol works on Multichart program. To verify the proposed system, BS(Buythensell)-SB(Sellthenbuy) strategies are tested which uses the change of open-interest of stock index futures within a day. These strategies buy both call and put option in ATM at start candle and liquidate all at 12 o'clock and then sell both call and put option in ATM at 12 o'clock and also liquidate all at 14:40. From 23 March 2009 to 31 May 2010, 301-trading days, is adopted for experiment. As a result, the average daily profit rate of this simple strategies riches 1.09%. This profit rate is up to eight times of commision price which is 0.15 % per option trade. If the method which raises the profitable rate of wining trade or lower commission than 0.15% is found, these strategies make fascinated lossless trading system which is based on the proposed dynamic symbol automatic trading system.

To verify the predicted dynamic stress and fatigue critical region, a single bump run test, road load simulation, and field test have been performed. The joined-wing is a new concept of the airplane wing. The fore-wing and the aft-wing are joined together in a joined-wing. The range and loiter are longer than those of a conventional wing. The joined-wing can lead to increased aerodynamic performance and reduction of the structural weight. In this research, dynamic response optimization of a joined-wing is carried out by using equivalent static loads. Equivalent static loads are made to generate the same displacement field as the one from dynamic loads at each time step of dynamic analysis. The gust loads are considered as critical loading conditions and they dynamically act on the structure of the aircraft. It is difficult to identify the exact gust load profile. Therefore, the dynamic loads are assumed to be (1-cosine) function. Static response optimization is performed for the two cases. One uses the same design variable definition as dynamic response optimization. The other uses the thicknesses of all elements as design variables. The results are compared.
