Recently the requirement of long-term mobile energy source for mobile robot or small-sized unmanned vehicle is highly increased, and the micro turbine generator(MTG) which is known to have high energy and power density is under development. MTG is designed to have air foil bearing and high speed rotor of which operating speed is 400,000rpm. In the development stage of high speed rotor and bearing, stability analysis for the full operational speed range is essential and the dynamic coefficients such as stiffness and damping coefficients of bearing depending on the rotational speed are required for that. Although perturbation method is usually used to identify the dynamic coefficients, it's not easy to give the perturbation to the high speed rotating rotor. In this study, we present the dynamic coefficients measurement system for air foil bearing which consists of electromagnets, gap sensors, high speed motor and controller. This measurement system can exert the sine sweep force to the rotor-bearing, measure the displacement of rotor and get FRF(Frequency response function) of rotor-bearing. The least square estimation method is applied to identify the dynamic coefficients of bearing from the measured frequency response at the different rpm and the identified dynamic coefficients for the wide rotational speed range are presented.
Background: Foot drop is a common symptom in stroke patients. Tape applications are widely used to manage foot drop symptoms. Previous studies have evaluated the effects of static and dynamic balance and gait on foot drop using kinesiology tape; however, only few studies have used dynamic tape application in stroke patients with foot drop. Objects: The purpose of this study was to investigate the immediate effects of dynamic taping, which facilitates the dorsiflexor muscle, on static and dynamic balance and gait speed in stroke patients with foot drop. Methods: The study included 34 voluntary patients (17 men, 17 women) with stroke. The patients were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n = 17), wherein dynamic taping was used to facilitate the dorsiflexor muscle, or the control group (n = 17), wherein kinesiology taping was used. Before the taping application, velocity average, path-length average, Berg balance scale, and timed up and go test (TUG) were recorded to measure static and dynamic balance, whereas the 10-meter walk test (10MWT) was used to measure gait speed. After the taping application, these parameters were re-evaluated in both groups. Repeated measure analysis of variance was used. Statistical significance levels were set to α = 0.05. Results: Except for the 10MWT scores in the control group, significant differences were noted in all the parameters measured for static and dynamic balance and gait speed between the pre and post-test (p < 0.05). However, the parameters showed significant interaction effects between group and time in the TUG and 10MWT (p < 0.01). Conclusion: These results indicate that compared with kinesiology taping, dynamic taping used in chronic stroke patients with foot drop had a more significant effect on dynamic balance and gait speed.
The effects of slant interface in the hybrid specimen on the dynamic crack propagation behavior have been investigated using dynamic photoelasticity. The dynamic photoelasticity with the aid of Cranz-Shardin type high speed camera system is utilized to record the dynamic stress field around the dynamically propagating inclined interface crack tip in the three point bending specimens. The dynamic load is applied by a hammer dropped from 0.08m high without initial velocity. The dynamic crack propagation velocities and dynamic stresses field around the interface crack tips are investigated. Theoretical dynamic isochromatic fringe loops are compared with the experimental reults. It is interesting to note that the crack propagating velocity becomes comparable to the Rayleigh wave speed of the soft material of a specimen when slant angle decreases.
The objective of this study is to investigate the dynamic behaviors of KHSR(Korea High-Speed Railway) bridge supported by elastomeric bearings subjected to high-speed vehicles. The effects of damping on the dynamic behaviors are also studied. The train composed of two power cars, two motor cars and eighteen passenger cars are simulated using constant moving forces for simplicity and effectiveness in the analysis. Direct integration method are used to solve the dynamic equation of motion. The bridge analyzed is real bridge with 2@40m span and concrete continuos box girder. The bridge is model led using frame element in three dimensional space. From the results of this study, the effects of elastomeric bearing on the dynamic responses of bridge(especially vertical accelerations) may cause undesirable behaviors. Damping are very important in the dynamic behaviors of the bridge subjected to high-speed railways. And so, dynamic analysis of steel bridge for high-speed railway supported by elastomeric bearings should be performed carefully.
Dynamic response of high-speed railway bridges is important due to the possibility of resonance from continuous and repeated action of high-speed train running. The designer's decision and application affect the result of dynamic analysis significantly, therefore guideline for dynamic analysis is required. On the purpose of the selection of resonable model for dynamic analysis, this study investigated load distribution effect.
The dynamic behavior of high speed train is very important because of its safety and passengers' ride comfort. The railway vehicle is composed of many suspension components, such as 1st springs, 1st dampers, 2nd springs and 2nd dampers, that have an influence on the dynamic characteristics of high speed train. Also, the wheel/rail shapes and the track geometry affect the dynamic behavior of high speed train. This paper reviews the dynamic behavior of KHST in the KTX test line. The VAMPIRE program is used for this simulation. The simulation results are within the limits of safety criteria. Thus the KHST can operate safely at 350 km/h in the KTX test line.
The catenary system of a high speed train is designed to have a flexibility to ensure the contact with a pantograph during high speed running. The flexibility inevitably entails a vibration. The vibration is transferred to a utility pole through brackets. Therefore, the examination of the dynamic load at the bracket due to the train running is necessary for the design of the bracket. In this research, an equation of motion is derived to calculate the dynamic load at the bracket during high speed running and a computer program is developed. Also, the analyzed results are compared to characterize the dynamic load at the bracket.
In this paper the overall dynamic response of simple railway bridges subjected to high-speed trains is investigated numerically based on the mechanical models of simply supported single-span and continuous two-span Bernoulli-Euler beams. Each axle of the train, which is composed of rail cars and passenger cars, is considered as moving concentrated load. Distance, magnitude, and maximum speed of the moving loads are adjusted to real high-speed trains and to load models according to Eurocode 1. Non-dimensional characteristic parameters of the train-bridge interaction system are identified. These parameters permit a spectral representation of the dynamic peak response. Response spectra assist the practicing engineers in evaluating the expected dynamic peak response in the design process of railway bridges without performing time-consuming time history analyses.
The dynamic model of a high-speed vacuum circuit breaker mechanism with spring-actuated cam and linkage is derived to simulate the high-speed closing and opening operations. Its validation for an analysis of high-speed motion behavior is checked through experiments. The characteristics of the friction on the camshaft are investigated using the nonlinear pendulum experiment. The parameters of the friction model are estimated using the optimization technique. The analysis exhibits that the friction of the pendulum depends on stick-slip, Stribeck effect and viscous damping. Comparing simulation results with actual responses using a high-speed camera, the appropriateness of derived dynamic models for the rapid closing and opening operations is shown. The spring motion, which has much influence on the closing responses, is observed.
