  • Directory searching and index searching methods are two main methods in web search engines. Both of the methods are applied to most of the well-known Internet search engines, which enable users to choose the other method if they are not satisfied with results shown by one method. That is, Index searching tends to come up with too many search results, while directory searching has a difficulty in selecting proper categories, frequently mislead to false ones. In this paper, we propose a novel method in which a category hierarchy is dynamically constructed. To do this, a category is regarded as a fuzzy set which includes keywords. Similarly extensible subcategories of a category can be found using fuzzy relational products. The merit of this method is to enhance the recall rate of directory search by expanding subcategories on the basis of similarity.

  • An active network is a new generation network based on a software-intensive network architecture in which applications are able to inject new strategies or code into the infrastructure for their immediate needs. Therefore, the secure active node architecture is needed to give the capability defending an active node against threats that may be more dynamic and powerful than those in traditional networks. In this paper, a security enforcement engine is proposed to secure active networks. We implemented an operating engine with security, authentication and a authorization modules. Using this engine, it is possible that active networks are protected from threats of the malicious active node.

  • Presently, the collaboration hardware system and software technology that promoted commercializing ICBMS for integrated system visibility evaluation. This variation will move on the next pervasive period that mixed with cultural and technology convergence. There is possibility for the period system can invoke unpredictable confusing blank state. The blank state systems have ecosystem characteristics that are supplied, maintained and operated through the complex interactions of technology and culture. Using universal middleware can support the life-cycle model and increase the visibility of complex systems and prepare for confusing situations. In this study, based on universal middleware, data and service dynamic standardized modules were evaluated to support stable system visibility platform. The system visibility module consists of Intelligent Pervasive Cloud module, Memorial Service module and Life Cycler connection module. each module reflects various requirements of system visibility requested by external system. In addition, the analysis results are supported by various network application service standards through platform independent system and architecture.

  • This paper presents a simulation-based system for verification and validation(V&V) of design implication of the Visual Real-time Object Model which is produced by existing object's behavior design method. This system can simulate the dynamic interactions using the executable Ada simulation machine, and can detect various logical and temporal problems in the visual real-time object model prior to the real implementation of the application systems. Also, the system can generate the Ada prototype code from the validated specification. This system is implemented by Visual C++ version 4.2. For simulation, this system is using the Ada language because Ada's real-time expression capabilities such as concurrent processes, rendezvous, temporal behavior expression, and etc, are competent compared to other languages. This work contributes to a tightly coupling of methodology-based visual models and formal-based simulation systems, and also contributes to a realization of automated specification V&V.

  • Product line is nowadays well known as a representative method for reuse. In the product line, important assets are components. Although enough concerns were given of the product line, it was not accomplished to structure and specify a product-line component with variability. This paper presents an approach to specify components in the product line. The approach describes the static and dynamic structure of a product-line component and explains the behavior and concurrency of the component. The component information is separately described in the black-box and white-box using the Feature-Oriented Reuse Method(FORM). This research also formalizes the data on a component specification in the form of BNF. The specification is described through careful consideration for many different characteristics of the product-line component, so this paper helps to easily develop the components in the product line and to well comprehend how to apply a method for the product line.

  • Web-based map services provide various geographic information that users want to get by continuous updating of data. Those map services provide different information for a geographic object respectively. It causes several problems, and most of all various information cannot be integrated and provided. To resolve the problem, this paper proposes a system which can integrate diverse geographic information and provide users rich geographic information. In this paper, a hybrid schema matching (HSM) algorithm is proposed and the algorithm is a mixture of the adapter-based semantic processing method, static semantic management-based approach, and dynamic semantic management-based approach. A comparative evaluation is described to show effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm in this paper improves the accuracy of schema matching because of registration and management of schemas of new semantic information. The proposal enables vocabulary-based schema matching using various schemas, and it thus also supports high usability. Finally, the proposed algorithm is cost-effective by providing the progressive extension of relationships between schema meanings.

  • Ground motion records are commonly used for fragility curves (FCs) developing utilized in seismic loss estimating analysis for earthquake prone zones. These records could be 'real', say the recorded acceleration time series or 'simulated' records consistent with the regional seismicity and produced by use of alternative simulation methods. This study has focused on fragility curves developing for masonry buildings through computational 'simulated' ground motion records while evaluating the properness of these fragilities compared to the curves generated by the use of 'real' records. Assessing the dynamic responses of structures, nonlinear computational time history analyses through the equivalent single degree of freedom systems have been implemented on OpenSees platform. Accordingly, computational structural analyses of multi-story 3D frame structures with different stiffening members considering soil interaction have been carried out with finite element software according to (1992) Earthquake East-West component. The obtained results have been compared to each frame regarding soil interaction. Conclusion and recommendations with the discuss of obtaining findings are presented.

  • The aim of the study is to determine the modal parameters of a prototype damaged arch dam by operational modal analysis (OMA) method for some damage scenarios. For this purpose, a prototype arch dam-reservoir-foundation model is constructed under laboratory conditions. Ambient vibration tests on the arch dam model are performed to identify the modal parameters such as natural frequency, mode shape and damping ratio. The tests are conducted for four test-case scenarios: an undamaged dam with empty reservoir, two different damaged dams with empty reservoirs, and a damaged dam with full reservoir. Loading simulating random impact effects is applied on the dam to crack. Cracks and fractures occurred at the middle of the upper part of the dams and distributed through the abutments. Sensitivity accelerometers are placed on the dams' crests to collect signals for measurements. Operational modal analysis software processes the signals collected from the ambient vibration tests, and enhanced frequency domain decomposition and stochastic subspace identification techniques are used to estimate modal parameters of the dams. The modal parameters are obtained to establish a basis for comparison of the results of two techniques for each damage case. Results show that approximately 35-40% difference exists between the natural frequencies obtained from Case 1 and Case 4. The natural frequencies of the dam considerably decrease with increasing cracks. However, observation shows that the filled reservoir slightly affected modal parameters of the dam after severe cracking. The mode shapes obtained are symmetrical and anti-symmetrical. Apparently, mode shapes in Case 1 represent the probable responses of arch dams more accurately. Also, damping ratio show an increase when cracking increases.

  • In this study, a hybrid control method that adjusts for the existing force control technique has been presented for consideration. The proposed hybrid control technique does away with the chattering phenomenon occurring in existing force control technique and provides high shock absorption efficiency. In order to design the controller for the landing gear with MR damper, the equation of motion of the landing gear was derived. The hybrid controller was designed after constructing a simulation model using Recur-Dyne, multi-body dynamic analysis software. The hybrid controller can reduce the maximum strut force and displacement based on the skyhook controller, and is able to get the high efficiency by making it work for the additional force control technique. In addition, an effective switching control technique and input shaping technique was applied to prevent the chattering in the drop simulation. Finally, the performance of the landing characteristics was evaluated throughout the various drop simulations.
