Water hammer phenomena are important issues for the design and the operation of hydro power plants. Especially, if several reversible pump-turbines are coupled hydraulically there may be strong unit interactions. The precise prediction of all relevant transients is challenging. Regarding a recent pump-storage project, dynamic measurements motivate an improved turbine modeling approach making use of a Thoma number dependency. The proposed method is validated for several transient scenarios and turns out to improve correlation between measurement and simulation results significantly. Starting from simple scenarios, this allows better prediction of more complex transients. By applying a fully automated simulation procedure broad operating ranges of the highly nonlinear system can be covered providing a consistent insight into the plant dynamics. This finally allows the optimization of the closing strategy and hence the overall power plant performance.
A dynamic model for the prediction of surface topography in high speed end milling process is developed. In this model the effect of tool runout, tool deflection and spindle vibration were taken in to account. An equivalent diameter of end mill is obtained by finite element method and tool deflection experiment. A modal parameter of machine tool is extracted by using frequency response function. The tool deflection, spindle vibration chip thickness and cutting force were calculated in dynamic cutting condition. The tooth pass is calculated at the current angular position for each point of contact between the tool and the workpiece. The new dynamic model for surface predition are compared with several investigated model. It is shown that new dynamic model is more effective to predict surface topography than other suggested models. In high speed end milling, the tool vibration has more effect on surface topography than the tool deflection.
The advent of B-ISDN using ATM(asynchronous transfer mode) made possible a variety of new multimedia services, however it also created a problem of congestion control due to bursty nature of various traffic sources. To tackle this problem, UPC/NPC(user parameter control/network parameter control) have been actively studied and DRLB(dynamic rate leaky bucket) algorithm, in which the token generation rate is changed according to states of data source andbuffer occupancy, is a good example of the UPC/NPC. However, the DRLB algorithm has drawbacks of low efficiency and difficult real-time implementation for bursty traffic sources because the determination of token generation rate in the algorithm is based on the present state of network. In this paper, we propose a more plastic and effective congestion control algorithm by combining the DRLB algorithm and neural network based prediction to remedy the drawbacks of the DRLB algorithm, and verify the efficacy of the proposed method by computer simulations.
A new structural dynamic fuzzy reliability analysis under stochastic loads which are applied several times is proposed in this paper. The fuzzy reliability prediction models based on time responses with and without strength degeneration are established using the stress-strength interference theory. The random loads are applied several times and fuzzy structural strength is analyzed. The efficiency of the proposed method is demonstrated numerically through an example. The results have shown that the proposed method is practicable, feasible and gives a reasonably accurate prediction. The analysis shows that the probabilistic reliability is a special case of fuzzy reliability and fuzzy reliability of structural strength without degeneration is also a special case of fuzzy reliability with structural strength degeneration.
A dual-time stepping algorithm combined with a parallelized multigrid DADI method is presented to predict the dynamic damping coefficients. The Basic Finner model is chosen to validate the prediction capability of the present unsteady Euler method. The linearity of the pitch- and roll-damping coefficients is shown in the low angular rates and the interesting large drop and stiff increment in transonic region for roll-damping coefficients are explained in detail. Through the analysis for the pressure distributions at Mach number 1.0 to 1.2, the sudden drop results from the normal shock and the stiff increment of roll-damping reflects the transition of the normal shock to the oblique shock. The results also show that the Euler equations can give the damping coefficients with a comparable accuracy.
There is an accelerating need for ocean sensing where autonomous vehicles can play a key role in assisting engineers, researcher and scientists with environmental monitoring and collecting oceanographic data. This paper is performed to develops an autonomous sailing drone to be used as a sensor carrying platform for autonomous data acquisition at Sea. From a sailing drone design viewpoint, it is important to establish reliable prediction methods for sailing drone's resistance. The required power for the propulsion unit depends on the ship resistance and speed. There are three solutions for the prediction of ship resistance as follow analytical methods, model tests in tanks and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The present paper aims at simulating sailing drone friction resistance using numerical method. The dynamic mesh motion is used to describe the sailing drone movement.
This paper proposes the method to extract new feature vectors using the difference between the cepstrum for static characteristics and delta cepstrum for dynamic characteristics in speaker recognition (SR). The difference vector (DV) which it proposes from this paper is containing the static and the dynamic characteristics simultaneously at the intermediate characteristic vector which uses the deference between the static and the dynamic characteristics and as the characteristic vector which is new there is a possibility of doing. Compared to the conventional method, the proposed method can achieve new feature vector without increasing of new parameter, but only need the calculation process for the difference between the cepstrum and delta cepstrum. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a good performance more than 2.03%, on average, compared with conventional method in speaker identification (SI).
Instantaneous following PWM control technique is pulsed nonlinear dynamic control method. This new control technique using analog integrator is proposed to control the duty ratio D of do-dc converter. In this control method, the duty ratio of a switch is exactly equal In or proportional to the control reference in the steady state or in a transient. Proposed control method compensates power source perturbation in one switching cycle, and the average value of the dynamic reference in one switching cycle. There is no steady state error nor dynamic error between the control reference and the average value of the switched variable. Experiments with buck converter have demonstrated the robustness of the control method and verified theoretical prediction. The control method is very general and applicable to all type PWM
The present work deals with the theoretical prediction of static & dynamic characteristic of annular type externally pressurized thrust air bearings with metal-sintered porous media. For the evaluation of surface loading effect by machining, it is assumed that the flow at the porous surface is dominant and which is equivalent to the flow through orifice. Finite different method with over-relaxation method is used to solve the numerical problems. The influences of radius ratio, supply pressure and squeeze number on performances are investigated, as the results. The results of this study can be used to predict the optimal running condition and stable realm of porous bearings.
