  • the high temperature deformation behavior of 304 stainless steel was characterized by the hot torsion test. Continuous deformation was carried out at the temperature ranges 900-110$0^{\circ}C$ and the strain rate ranges 5x10-2~5/sec. The formulation of the flow stress curves was developed as subtraction form which was based on dynamic softening mechanisms The volume fraction of dynamic recrystallization and the mean grain size could be expressed as a function of deformation variables temperature (T) strain ($\varepsilon$) strain rate ($\varepsilon$) The calculated values of flow stress and mean grain size could be well matched with experimental values.

  • The relationship between plastic deformation and crystal grain change in warm forging processes of SM100 carbon steel is studied. If the carbon steel is deformed in warm forging temperature (about recrystallization range), the crystal grain and cementite of the internal part are changed, so material properties are changed. Some experimental values, such as the elliptic degree of cementite, the grain size of cementitie and ferrite grain size, are investigated. When the plastic deformation proceeds, the elliptic degree of cementite becomes large, the grain size of cementite particle is small, and the size of ferrite grain appears fine by recrystallization. The elliptic degree of cementite has a considerable effect on formability. The distribution of effective strain in the forging is calculated by the rigid visco-plastic FEM analysis. The effective strain distribution obtained from the FEM simulation is compared with the experimental result. At effective strain 0.3 dynamic recovery and dynamic recrystallization begin, over 2.5 the organization of material has better quality that is suitable for the following cold forming.

  • In this study, drawing process of KFP engine airsealing bearing support part is analyzed by dynamic explicit finite element method. Puckering should be supressed to meet the specification. By investigating the influence fo process parameter, the feasible process condition can be obtained. The corresponding experiment is carried out. There is good agreement between the experiment and FE simulation . From this result, it is shown that the dynamic explicit finite element method can be used effectively to avoid puckering and wrinking problem in drawing process.

  • The high temperature deformation behavior of spray-formed Al-19wt%Si-1.87wt%Mg-0.085wt.%Fe alloy was studied by torsion testing in the strain rate range of 0.001-1 sec-1 and in the temperature range of 300-500 $^{\circ}C$. The relationship between stress temperature and strain rate is expressed using the Power law. the behavior of dynamic recrystallization is showed in 300-35$0^{\circ}C$, 1-0.1sec-1 and the behavior of dynamic recovery is showed in 450-50$0^{\circ}C$, 0.01-0.001sec-1 The size of Si particles is mall when the temperature is low and the strain rate is high. The strain rate sensitivity(m) and the apparent activation energy(Q) indicate the dependence on strain rate and temperature for flow stress respectively. The hot ductility is high when m is high and Q is low. The maps of strain rate sensitivity and apparent activation energy suggest the optimum processing conditions.

  • In the recent sheet metal forming simulations, it increases to adopt the dynamic explicit method for an effective computation and the elastic-plastic formulation for stress recovery. It is inevitable in the dynamic explicit method that some noises occur and sometimes partly spoil results of simulations. It is severer when complicated contact conditions are included in simulations. An effective method to control these noises is introduction of damping effects. In this paper, the concept of contact damping is introduced in order to suppress noises due to complicated contact conditions. This is checked by analyzing a simple sheet metal forming process(U-bending). From the computational results, it is shown that the contact damping can effectively control the noises due to contacts and develop more reliable internal stress states.

  • High temperature deformation behavior of Al85Ni10Y5 alloy extrudates fabricated with amorphous ribbons was investigated at temperature range form 300 to 550$^{\circ}C$ by torsion tests. Thermal properties of amorphous ribbons as a function of aging temperature was studied by Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC). The Al phase crystallite firstly formed in the amorphous ribbons and its crystallization temperature(Tx) was ∼210$^{\circ}C$. During the processings of consolidation and extrusion, nano-grained structure was formed in the Al85Ni10Y5 alloy extrudates. The as-extrudated Al85Ni10Y5 alloy and the Al85Ni10Y5 alloy annealed at 250$^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour showed the flow curve of DRV(dynamic recovery) during hot deformation at 400-550$^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the Al85Ni10Y5 alloy annealed at 400$^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour showed the flow curve of DRX(dynamic recrystallization) during hot deformation at 450-500$^{\circ}C$.

  • Alloy 718 is normally used for the stationary and rotating parts of gas turbines due to its excellent combination of high temperature mechanical properties, formability and weldability. The mechanical properties of the Alloy 718 depend very much on grain size, as well as the strengthening phases, ${\gamma}'\;and\;{\gamma}'$. Direct aging is normally used to enhance tensile strengths at high temperatures. The grain structure of the superalloy components is mainly controlled during thermo-mechanical process by the dynamic, meta-dynamic recrystallization and grain growth. In this study, the influence of grain structure and heat treatment on tensile properties of direct-aged Alloy 718 was evaluated.

  • The torsion tests in the range of 900~1100$^{\circ}C$ and 5.0X10-2~5.0X100/sec were performed to study the high temperasture deformation behavior kinetics of 304 stainless steels. The flow curves and microstructures exhibited the characteristic of dynamic recrystallization(DRX). The relationship between the critical strain($\varepsilon$c) for the initiation of dynamic recrystallization and the peak strain($\varepsilon$p) could be expressed as $\varepsilon$c=0.73$\varepsilon$p. The dependence of the flow stress on temperature(T) and stain rate($\varepsilon$) was expressed by hyperbolic sine law, $\varepsilon$=2.75X1014 (sinh 0.076$\sigma$)5.26 exp(-379.55kJ/mol). Under the Zener-Hollomon parameter, Z value of 1013 order, it was found that the grain size was 20${\mu}$m. The relationship between the grain size, dDRX and Z parameter was expressed as dDRX =139.48-7.33 log Z.

The transportation cask which contains radioactive material needs to be inspected about structural safety. About safety verification, description of IAEA Safety Standards states that cask must withstand hypothetical accident conditions. In this paper, 9m free drop impact analysis was performed for transportation cask and impact limiter by using the finite element methods. Furthermore, we obtained the dynamic behavior of wood to as compared with safety test results, and verified the safety of transportation cask.

  • The mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V greatly vary for changes of microstructures. Therefore, when manufacturing components with this material, it is important to understand the influence of process parameters to the resulting microstructures. In the present investgation, it was attempted to relate the process parameters with the microstructures in a hot forged Ti-6Al-4V disk. The investigation was carried out by a rigid thermo-viscoplastic FEM analysis, flow stress measurements and microstructure studies. It was found that the dynamic recrystallization would hardly occur in this material and that variations of strain, strain rate and temperature of several locations in the disk were below the assumed dynamic recrystallization zone. These findings confirmed the experimental obervations that the microstructures in the disk were only deformed without being recrystallized.
