The purpose of this study was to investigate the dyeability of silk fabrics with sweet potato stem leaf extract. To obtain the optimal dyeing conditions it was examined at various dyeing conditions(temperature, pH, time and bath ratio). The dyeability and the depths of shade which were evaluated in terms of K/S and CIELAB color difference values of the dyed and mordanted fabrics were also investigated. After dyeing, various color fastness(wash fastness, dry cleaning fastness, light fastness, rub fastness, and perspiration fastness) was measured and reviewed for UV protective, deodorant and antimicrobial functionality. The optimun output, as a result, was shown at 100% of dye concentration, $90^{\circ}C$ of dyeing temperature and 80 minutes of dyeing time while in terms of dye uptake depending on the kind of mordants and mordanting, it was found that among four mordants of $Alk(SO_4)_2$, $CuSO_4$, $SnCl_2$, and $FeSO_4$, post-mordanting with $SnCl_2$ showed the best results. Color fastness to dry cleaning, washing and rubbing was found strong at grade 4-5 and the grade to perspiration was as good as 3 while to light fastness was good at 4 as well. In aspects of functional properties, it showed excellent results of 98.3% UV protection rate and 88% deodorization rate. Antibacterial activity was 99.9% against staphylococcus aureus and 73.3% against klebisella pneumoniae. In conclusion, we validated that the dyestuffs from the disused sweet potato stem leaf extract would be useful as a natural dye material using the optimized conditions and dyeability for silk dyeing.
The objective of this study was to investigate the adsorption potential of chicken feathers for the removal of OrangeII (AO7) from aqueous solutions. Batch experiments were performed as a function of different experimental parameters such as initial pH, reaction time, feather dose, initial OrangeII concentration and temperature. The highest OrangeII uptake was observed at pH 1.0. Most of the OrangeII was adsorbed at 2 h and an adsorption equilibrium was reached at 6 h. As the amount of chicken feather was increased, the removal efficiency of OrangeII increased up to 99%, but its uptake decreased. By increasing the initial concentration and temperature, OrangeII uptake was increased. The experimental adsorption isotherm exhibited a better fit with the Langmuir isotherm than with the Freundlich isotherm, and maximum adsorption capacity from the Langmuir constant was determined to be 0.179244 mmol/g at $30^{\circ}C$. The adsorption energy obtained from the Dubinin-Radushkevich model was 7.9 kJ/mol at $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ which indicates the predominance of physical adsorption. Thermodynamic parameters such as ${\Delta}G^0$, ${\Delta}H^0$, and ${\Delta}S^0$ were -12.28 kJ/mol, 20.64 kJ/mol and 112.32 J/mol K at $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. This indicates that the process of OrangeII adsorption by chicken feathers was spontaneous and endothermic. Our results suggest that as a low-cost biomaterials, chicken feather is an attractive candidate for OrangeII removal from aqueous solutions.
It was the purpose of this study to investigate the effect of chitosan treatment and mordanting on the air-permeability, fastness of the dyestuff to washing, fastness of the dyestuff to light, and antimicrobial effect of cotton and nylon fabrics dyed using Rhusjara ica. In the dyeing experiment, examinations were made on the difference between the chitosan treated fabrics and chitosan untreated fabrics, and on the difference according to the type of mordanting agents and the mordanting methods. Dyeing was carried out for the chitosan treated and untreated fabrics under the conditions of non-mordanting and Al, Sn, Fe mordanting. As a result, due to the dye-uptake of the dyestuff component of the Rhusjara ica, the air-permeability values decreased considerably. And due to the action of the mordanting agents, the air-permeability decreased also. The air-permeability decreased more conspicuously in the case of the dyestuffs uptake to the chitosan components than in the case of the dyestuffs uptake to the cotton fibers or nylon fibers. Nylon dyed fabric exhibited better wash fastness than the cotton dyed fabric. As the number of washing increased, the color of the cotton fabric specimens and nylon fabric specimens, dyed using Rhusjara ica, shifted toward yellowish. The light fastness values were in the range of grade 1${\~}$2, which were very inferior. The light fastness values did not improve according to the mordanting or to the chitosan treatment. In the case of chitosan untreated fabrics dyed using Rhusjara ica, the growth rate of the bacteria promoted, on the contrary, compared to that of the control white fabric.

Dyeing and fastness properties of direct spun type PET microfiber velvet woven fabric have been compared with those of regular PET velvet woven fabric. They showed different exhaustion and rate of dye uptake. The build-up properties of disperse dyes on direct spun type PET microfiber velvet woven fabric were relatively poor than regular PET velvet woven fabric. The wash fastness properties of disperse dyes on regular PET velvet woven fabric were similar to direct spun type PET microfiber velvet woven fabric.
This paper is to know the possibility of coloration of synthetic fibers with loess. Fabrics woven with polyester, nylon, and acrylic fibers were dyed by a dip-pad operation with a laboratory mangle. Drying, curing at 180$^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes and washing were followed. Effect of curing after drying were investigated in terms of K/S values and SEM microphotographes. Reddish-yellow(a:75.13, B:15.14, ${\Delta}$E:45.31) colored fabric ascertain possibility of coloration of synthetic fibers with loess. Acrylic fiber shows highest dye uptake of the three kinds of fibers and fastness increases by curing after drying.
Triphenylmethane was decolorized rapidly by enterbacter cloacae MG 82 at initial reaction time. The spheroplast showed higher activity of triphenylmentane decolorization than that of intact cell suspension. The outer part of the bacterial cell envelope and the peptidoglycan are important for the function of transport barrier of triphenylmethane. In intact cell, decolorization activity was higher at 37$\circ $C than at $\circ $C, indicating that triphenylmethane decolorization is due to the enzyme reaction. Culture filtrate showed no decolorization activity, while cell-free extract appeared high activity of 1.45 units, clearly showing that decolorization activity was due to the cell-free extract. Comparing decolorization activities of cell fractions, it was found that decolorization activity was located at the compartment of cytoplasmic membrane. The enzyme activity was also shown to be Mg$^{++}$-dependent. The optimum pH and temperature of enzyme activity were 7.0 and 50$\circ $C, respectively. The thermostability of this enzyme at 35$\circ $C was kept to 58% for 3 hours.
Abstract-Many studies have been carried out to improve the dyeability of anionic dyes onto cellulosic fibers. Modification of control using cationic compounds has been most widely used. In this study, an effort was made to cationize cotton fabrics using cellulose-reactive allylamine polymer, namely triazinyl N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-diallyl ammonium chloride in the previous work. The results showed that the dye-uptake of treated cotton fabrics with acid dyes and reactive dyes markedly increased in the various dyeing conditions. In addition, the dyeing rate of cationized cotton was also faster than that of untreated counterpart. Furthermore, the antimicrobial property was also investigated to determine the effects of cationization.
The mechanical properties and dyeability of Poly(trimethylene terephthalate)(PTT) were investigated and compared to PET. Glass transition temperature of PTT was lower than that of PET, because amorphous region of PTT is mote flexible. n has smaller molecular and specific stress and larger strain than those of PET, due to the difference of molecular structure. Dyeing transition temperature of PTT was lower by $20^\circ{C}$ than that of PET. Because PTT has flexible chain and zigzag structure, dyeing Fate of PTT is faster than PET and dyeing of PTT is begun at lower temperature. As the hydrophobicity of disperse dyes increased, the ratio of equilibrium dye uptake on PTT to that on PET was increased.
Dyeing liquor was extracted from flowers, leaves and stems of balsamine. Dyeing properties, colorfastness and antibacterial activities of the fabrics dyed with the balsamine extracts were investigated at a variety of dyeing conditions of differing pH. time and temperature. Wool, silk and nylon fabrics showed better dyeability than cellulosic fabrics, i.e. cotton, linen and rayon. Especially, nylon fabrics showed the highest K/S values. The dye-uptake was achieved to the highest degree during the first ten minutes of dyeing procedure. All fabrics were dyed well at $40^\circ{C}$ with no pH adjustment. The pH of unadjusted balsamine extracts was 4.6. Their colorfastnesses to washing, drycleaning and perspiration were good as 4 or 4-5 grade. but the light fastnesses were poor as 1-2 grade. While, the antibacterial activities to Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae were excellent with 99.9% of colonies reduction ratio. Their excellent antibacterial activity was kept well after ten times washing.
