In one bath dyeing system of silk/PET fiber blend fabric with acid/disperse dyes, adsorption behavior of disperse dyes and acid dyes on silk and PET fabrics were examined. In the dyeing of PET with C.I.Disperse Red 19(Red 19) and C.I.Disperse Red 60(Red 60) at 10$0^{\circ}C$(carrier dyeing) and 13$0^{\circ}C$, dye uptake with Red 60 was higher than that with Red 19. When the silk/PET dyed with Red 19 and Red 60 at 10$0^{\circ}C$(carrier dyeing) and 13$0^{\circ}C$, dye uptake on PET was influenced by affinity of the dye to the silk fabric dyed together. When the silk/PET dyed with Blue 80/Red 19 and Blue 80/Red 60 at 10$0^{\circ}C$(carrier dyeing) and 13$0^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes, color of PET dyed with Red 19 and Red 60 was little influenced by Blue 80 but silk dyed with Blue 80 was influenced. Interrelation of K/S value and Munsell value was scarcely any but showed the change tendency of K/S value.
Effect of hyperosmotic pressure on growth of recombinant Chinese hamster 。 vary cells and Erythropoietin (EPO) production was investigated. Cells were cultivated in batch modes at various osmolalities. When the osmolality increased from 314 to 463mOsm/Kg, specific EPO productivity (qp) was increased up to 1.6-fold but cell growth was inhibited. EPO has a complex oligosaccharide structure that plays an important role in biological activity in vivo. To investigate the influence of hypoerosmotic pressure on the glycosylation, structural analysis of oligosaccharide was calTied out. Recombinant human EPO was produced by CHO cells grown under various osmotic pressure and purified from culture supernatants by heparin-sepharose affinity column and immunoaffinity column. N-linked oligosaccharides were released enzymatically and isolated by paper chromatography. The isolated oligosaccharides were labeled with fluorescent dye, 2-aminobenzamide and analyzed with MonoQ anion exchange chromatography and GlycosepN amide chromatography for the assignment of GU (glucose unit) value. Glycan analysis by HPLC showed that neutral (asialo) oligosaccharide was increased slightly with an increase in osmolality. In portion of sialylated glycan, total relative amount of mono- and di-sialyated glycan was increased but that of tri- and tetra-sialylated glycan decreased as osmolality was increased.
The tetradecameric peptide (K47-K60) near the NH$_2$-terminal region of epithelial-cell adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM) was chosen as antigenic site and a polyclonal antibody was generated, which could recognize Ep-CAM from the mouse colon tissue or the colon cancer cell, CT-26, in Western blot analysis. Then, the fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), a fluorescence dye, was conjugated with the affinity purified Ep-CAM antibody using thiocyanate and the amino groups of FITC and antibody, respectively. The molar ratio of FITC to antibody was estimated approximately 1.86 to 1.00 by measuring the optical densities at 492 nm and 280 nm. Ep-CAM antibody-FITC conjugate was then used for immunohistochemistry of the CT-26 cells. Judging from the shapes formed by fluorescence, the Ep-CAM antibody could delivered FITC to the surface of cells in which Ep-CAM was expressed. This result implies that Ep-CAM antibody could be also used for the tissue-specific delivery of the photosensitizer to the target protein via antigen-antibody interaction.
In one dyeing system of silk/synthetic blend fabrics (polyester, nylon, acetate) with acid dyes/disperse dyes, dyeability and desorptibility of disperse dyes on silk fabric and transfer from dyed silk fabrics to synthetic fabrics by color difference were examined. When silk dyed with C.I. Disperse Red 19 and C.I. Disperse Red 60 at 10$0^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes, color difference of dyed silk were $\Delta$E=56.72, $\Delta$E=47.65 for blank silk, respectively. The desorption rate of the dyed silks were measured in boiling bath with and without dye-free synthetic fibers. The desorption rate of dyed silk was effected by affinity of synthetic fabrics contained. When silk dyed with Red 19 and Red 60 was reduced at 10$0^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes, the decolouration rates of dyed silk were 75% and 40%, respecdtively.
In foam dyebath assisted with and without solvent (iso-propylacohol) for polyester and polyester(30%)/nylon(70%) (P3/N7) nonwoven fabrics, adsorption behavior of polyester and P3/N7 nonwovens dyed with C.I. Disperse Red 4 (Red 4), C.I. Acid Violet 54(Violet 54) and Red 4/Violet 54 were investigated by determining the K/S value. The K/S values of polyester and P3/N7 nonwovens in the foam dyeing was greatly enchanced by adding the iso-propylalcohol, but these values were not higher than the carrier dyeing. Dyeabilities of polyester/nylon blended nonwoven fabrics to Red 4, Violet 54 and Red 4/Violet 54 in the foam dyeing were influenced by the affinity of dye to fiber.
Of all the ways that energy is consumed within textile industry, few are as high energy-expending as dyeing process. The energy consumption in dyeing process amounts to 77% of total fuel consumption, 54% of total electricity use. A technical development in terms of efficient saving energy and time as well is required in the process of dyeing textiles. Recently, dyeing experts are investigating new technologies can conserve energy grafting into microwaves, radio waves, infrared lights, etc. Dyeing industry in Korea, however, the research related to energy conservation has been rarely conducted. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the possibility where especially microwaves could be applied to reduce the energy use and enhance dyeing process skill. This study performs the experiment in which microwave is employed as heating condition in dyeing and figures out as color yield being promoted, bathochromic effect would be achieved. Applying microwaves in dyeing process is expected to lower the carbon emission, energy and time wasted, ultimately exalt economic efficiency.
In order to activate the characteristics of charcoal in fiber systems, this was carried out to experiment with the particle size from two micrometers to ten micrometers of charcoal powders on cotton fabrics. The results obtained were as follows; The fabrics were dyed with gray colors by charcoal. The K/S values, that were indicative of the dye affinity, became higher as the increase of dyeing temperature, dyeing time, and dyeing concentration. Also it was confirmed the morphology of the fiber surfaces adsorbed with the particle size from two micrometers to four micrometers of charcoal powder by scanning electronmicronscope. The cotton fabrics dyed by charcoals generally recorded 3-4 degree of wash fastness, 4-5 degree of dry-cleaning fastness, 4-5 degree acidic and alkaline perspirations and water fastness. In connection with the functional properties, cotton fabrics dyed with charcoal appeared that antibacterial, deodorization, far infrared emissivity were improved. Especially the deodorization was improved greatly by using charcoal.
The dyeability and fastness properties of super-hydrophobic navy dyes having different length of alkyl groups were investigated on ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fabrics. Those dyes exhibited strong color strength in the wavelength of mainly 550~650nm, which meant that they were navy color. From the results accomplished under various dyeing conditions, it can be concluded that those dyes have higher affinity on the fibers at $130^{\circ}C$ than at the lower dyeing temperature. Considering processing time and thermal damage of the fibers, one hour is good enough to obtain full strength of color. Maximum color strength was obtained at 2~3%owf of pure dyes. Except for the rub fastness under dry condition, all fastness such as to washing and light showed as good as of 4~5 ratings.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of chitosan treatment on the dyeing of cotton fabric using charcoal as colorants. Particle size of charcoal, dyeability(K/S), SEM morphology of dyed fabrics and color fastness were also investigated. In this study, cotton fabrics were treated with a crosslinking agent epichlorohydrin in the presence of chitosan to provide the cotton fabrics the dyeing properties of natural dye by the chemical linking of chitosan to the cellulose structure. The results obtained were as follows; Mean average diameter of charcoal was 1.44 ${\mu}m$. According to various conditions, the dyeing effects of 1% chitosan treatment on the dyeing of cotton fabrics using charcoal were the highest with 10%(owb) of charcoal at $90^{\circ}C$ for 120minutes and non-treatment of cotton fabrics were the highest with 15%(owb) of charcoal at $90^{\circ}C$ for 150minutes. Overall, K/S value of 1% chitosan treatment of cotton fabrics on the natural dyeing using charcoal was higher than non-treatment of cotton fabrics. It was observed the surfaces of cotton fabrics treated with chitosan were adsorbed with charcoal powders of particle size more than a non-treated chitosan fabric by SEM. The cotton fabrics were dyed with blackish gray color by charcoal gradually according to treating chitosan. The K/S value, that is indicative of dye affinity, became higher as the increase of treated chitosan concentration. The color fastness of charcoal, washing and light fastness was excellent as 4-5 grade.
