  • 디지탈 비디오 디스크의 약어로 지칭되는 DVD는 현대 과학이 이루어낸 레이저 광에 의한 정보의 기록과 재생을 한층 승화시킨 차세대 package형 광 기록 매체이다. 앞으로 이 제품군은 기존에 분리되어 있던 가전과 컴퓨터의 응용분야를 이어주는 교량역할을 할 새로운 개념의 상품으로 기대된다. 본 고에서는 DVD의 기술적 배경 및 이의 구현을 위해 활용된 요소기술, 그리고 미래기술로의 흐름에 관해 소개고자 한다.

Slim Tilt Actuator for High density Recording in the Optical Disc (기록용 고밀도 광디스크를 위한 박형 틸트 구동기)

  • Hybrid type slim tilt actuator and 6-wire supported are developed for DVD recording in the optical disc drive of notebook PC, which can compensate the inclination of disc and objective lens. The hybrid actuator uses the actuating method of moving coil in the focus and track direction and that of moving magnet in the tilt direction. Comparing with 6-wire supported actuator and hybrid type actuator, we can choose an actuator for slim super combo pickup. Two actuator are designed through the modal analysis and magnetic field analysis and experimental results shows dynamic characteristics. Finally, it is verified that the actuator can compensate the disc tilt of ${\pm}0.4^{\circ}$.

  • DVD, HD(High Density)-DVD등의 고밀도 광 디스크의 광 기록재생장치는 고 개구율(Numerical Aperature)의 대물렌즈로 집광 빔의 크기를 소형화하여 기록용량을 증대시키고 있다. 이 경우 광축과 광 디스크의 기록면에 대한 경사는 광학적인 수차가 발생되어 신호 레벨의 저하나 기록시의 피트(pit) 형성의 오류, Crosstalk등의 문제가 발생한다. 이를 극복하기 위해 직접 디스크의 경사에 따라 제어할 수 있는 픽업 구동기가 제안되어 왔지만 주로 Half Height(12.7mm)에 사용되는 틸트 구동기였으며 Slim(6.3mm)형 틸트 구동기는 제안되지 못하였다. Synthesis and Optical Recording Properties of Coupled Hemicyanine Salts for DVD-R

  • A series of coupled-hemicyanine dyes with alkylene spacer were successfully synthesized by a reaction of coupled aldehydes with corresponding salts, respectively. These coupled dyes had more excellent thermal properties (high decomposition temperature, stiff decomposition behavior) and higher molar absorption properties than an uncoupled dye. The coupled dyes with perchlorate anions showed the strongest exothermic decomposition while those with hexafluorophosphorate anions showed endothermic decomposition. As the coupling length (n=3, 4, 5, 6) increased, thermal properties decreased and dyes with even spacer was more thermally stable than dyes with odd spacer. Among several coupled dyes, C4-NP-ClO4 and C4-Cl-ClO4 exhibited the best recording properties with the lowest jitter value of 7.5∼9.5% in authoring disc.

  • In this paper, we evaluated error correction performance and recording density of an optical disc system. The performance of Low-Density Parity Check code (LDPC) is compared to the HD-DVD (BD) ECC. The recording density of optical disc can be increased by reducing the redundancy of the user data. Moreover, since the correction capability of LDPC with decreased redundancy is better than that of BD, the recording density can also be increased by reducing the mark length of the data on the disc surface.

  • 광디스크를 재생 및 기록 가능한 기기는 그동안 IT에 용이한 컴퓨터 중심의 ODD(Optical Disc Drive)를 기반으로 급속히 발전해 오고 있었으나, 홈 엔터테인먼트의 발전과 이에 대한 관심의 증폭으로 AV용의 레코더가 2000년대에 등장하게 되었다. AV용 DVD 레코더의 경우 PC용 ODD에 비해 소음 및 세트 내부 온도 등 환경의 영향을 많이 받고, 여러 규격들을 만족해야 하기 때문에 구현에 많은 어려움과 제약이 따른다. 그리고 DVD 레코더는 방송 등을 스트림 기록해야 하므로 기록 신뢰성에 더욱 엄격함을 요구한다. 이에 기록 품질에 관련된 중요 Factor들이 존재하게 된다.

  • The present study relates to a method of manufacturing 100$\mu\textrm{m}$ thick cover layer for the high density digital versatile disc system (HD-DVD), which uses a high numerical aperture of 0.85 at 405 nm wavelength. Spin coating technique was investigated as means for manufacturing the cover layer within sufficient margins of thickness variation and with good mechanical properties including small radial and tangential tilts. The influence of processing variables such as spinning speed, spinning time, and dispensing position was investigated. The effect of viscosity of UV-curable resin was also investigated.

  • It is necessary to improve mechanical and optical porperties in the optical disk substrates as the information storage devices with high storage density using blue laser are being developed. Injection compression molding is regarded as the most suitable process to manufacture optical disk substrates for quality recording and read-out. In the present research, the effects of processing conditions and the insulation layer thickness on gapwise birefringence and the land-groove pattern were investigated. It was found that the values of the birefringence distribution were very sensitive to mold temperature history, and the level of birefringence reduced and, furthermore, the quality of replication was improved due to the insulation layer.

  • There has been lower the tilt margin by the increase of coma aberration due to the reduction of wave-length and the increase of numerical aperture for high density recording. The RF signal degradation is increased as the decrease of tilt margin. To compensate the tilt margin, the optical pick-up actuator for high-speed CD/DVD re-writable system should be able to drive the radial-tilt motion. We announce that the 3-axis drive actuator for high-speed CD/DVD rewritable system. And what was more, the DC/AC sensitivities of this actuator are suitable fur the low-speed playability, the high-speed readability and the high-speed rewritability.
