In this paper, two plant models, of which one is newly developed and the other one is the conventional one, of the focus servo system of DVD drive are presented and a two-degree-of freedom controller consisted of Inverse dynamics feedforward and LQG/LTR feedback controller is designed. The newly developed plant model is used to design the feedforward controller and the conventional model is used for the design of feedback controller. The output of newly developed model is the displacement of objective lens and the output of conventional model is the focus error of the DVD focus servo system. The displacement of the objective lens is estimated by the dynamics model of the DVD focus servo system. The disturbance rejection performance of the two-degree-of freedom controller is compared with that of an LQG/LTR one.

DVD(Digital Versatile Disk) is the data storage media devised to make high storage density and high speed data input/output possible. For example, a whole length movie can be stored in a disk as large as a CD(Compact Disk). Therefore higher rotational speed and better accuracy in optical pick-up are required compared with the existing optical storage device. Without these operational functional requirements being satisfied DVD will lose its place as the high capacity storage device. This paper evaluated whether the currently developed DVD satisfies the requirements and provides improved methods with the Axiomatic Approach which is superb in evaluating and designing newly concepted designs.

We describe holographic ROM system to read bit-type data. It has optical system similar to general optical data storage system such as DVD. But because holographic data storage systems have to adopt imaging optical system, in our system bit-type data can be read out by different servos with DVD. We devised 3-hole method similar to 3- beam method for the tracking servo and used astigmatic optical system for the focusing servo. Also we developed the reference beam servo to measure movement of reference beam because especially holographic data storage systems need reference beam. The system was operated by these three servos and objective lens of NA 0.6. We obtained eye pattern from random data of 3T-2um track pitch. We also obtained another eye pattern from DVD disk by only using focusing servo PDIC in our system to verify the compatibility with DVD.

MPEG II 비디오 스트림과 오디오 AC-3 스트림, 자막 스트림에 지역 코든 복제 방지 메뉴 등을 프로그램 하여 하나의 스트림으로 만들고, 시나리오에 따라 속성, 명령 및 작동을 부여하여 최종 디스크 이미지(DVD)를 만드는 과정을 오소링(Authoring)이라고 한다. 이러한 오소링(Authoring) 툴들은 다양하게 출시되어 있는데, 간단한 타이틀을 만드는 보급형부터 전문적인 영화 타이틀을 만드는 고급형까지 용도에 따라 선택하여 쓸 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 일반적인 IEEE 1394포트를 이용하여 영상과 음향을 컴퓨터로 캡처(Capture)해서 DVD를 만드는 오소링(Authoring) 과정을 일반인들이 Desktop PC로써 가장 많이 사용하고 있는 Window체계의 PC와 OSX 체계의 Macintosh를 중심으로 비교, 분석하고자 한다.

디지탈 비디오 디스크의 약어로 지칭되는 DVD는 현대 과학이 이루어낸 레이저 광에 의한 정보의 기록과 재생을 한층 승화시킨 차세대 package형 광 기록 매체이다. 앞으로 이 제품군은 기존에 분리되어 있던 가전과 컴퓨터의 응용분야를 이어주는 교량역할을 할 새로운 개념의 상품으로 기대된다. 본 고에서는 DVD의 기술적 배경 및 이의 구현을 위해 활용된 요소기술, 그리고 미래기술로의 흐름에 관해 소개고자 한다.

A new adaptive PRML architecture, considered not only DVD-ROM but also DVD-Multi including DVD-RAM as well, is presented to demonstrate its superiority over the conventional analog channel in a DVD system. For this new architecture, channel adaptation algorithm using gain controlled type of FIR filter, and asymmetry compensation algorithm using expected level adaptation of viterbi decoder are presented. In addition, a method of modelling the disk tilt and asymmetrical read-back signal are discussed.

디지털 방송 서비스가 보편화되면서 MPEG-2, DVB 및 ATSC Transport Stream의 사용이 확산되고 있다. 수신된 방송 Transport Stream(TS)은 TS 그대로 이용하거나 Program Stream(PS)로 변환한 후 저장하여 이용한다. DVD같은 디지털 저장매체에는 PS가 사용되므로 디지털 방송을 수신하여 이를 DVD나 DVD-RAM과 같은 저장 매체에 저장하려면 TS를 저장용 Stream인 PS로 변환하여 저장하여야 DVD Player와 같은 매체 재생기에서 이를 이용할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 TS를 PS로 변환하고 변환된 TS와 PS를 분석하여 얻어진 변환 및 변환 후의 여러 결과들을 비교 분석하여 보여준다.

삼성전자가 본격적인 디지털 녹화 시대 개막을 알리는 램(RAM)방식의 DVD레코더(모델명:DVD-R5000)를 국내에 출시한다. 삼성전자가 이번에 출시하는 램(RAM)방식의 레코더는 PC를 기반으로 하고 있기 때문에 녹화와 재생 등이 타 방식보다 빠르다는 것이 가장 큰 특징이다. 즉 디스크에 기록된 영상과 음성등을 가장 빨리 찾고, 재생할 수 있다는 점이다.

The objective of this study is to provide a simple methodology to find optimum processing conditions to fabricate sub-micron structured DVD-RAM substrates with superb optical and geometrical properties. It was found that the birefringence, which is regarded as one of the most important optical properties for an optical disk, was very sensitive to the mold wall temperature history. Also, the integrity of the replication, represented by the land-groove structure and the radial tilt were influenced by the mold temperature and the compression pressure. A set of optimum conditions were obtained by applying Design of Experiment and the objective functions composed of three different objectives.
