A Vibration Control of a Flexible Beam using a Nonlinear Compensator with Complex Dual-Input Describing Function (복소쌍입력 기술함수를 갖는 비선형 보상기를 이용한 유연한 빔의 진동제어)

  • In this paper a vibration control fo a one-link flexible beam is considered. At first a state-space model for a flexible beam is derived by using the assumed-modes approach. Based on this model the transfer function between the applied torque and the tip deflection fo the beam is presented because it is convenient to apply our method. In general there exist some control difference due to flexibility of the beam so we adop a forward-passive controller to reduce these phenomena. And a complex dual-input describing function compensator is used to control the tip deflection. The stabiltiy and the performance of the closed-loop system are analyzed. Finally the validity of the derived model and the effectiveness of proposed controller are confirmed throuth simula-tions and experiments.

  • According to torsional vibration characteristic of a tunable dual stiffness type clutch(TDSTC) in auto-transmission, the input shaft system have occurred breakdown for the duration cycle and over-vibration happened on vehicle at specific condition. This paper introduces the improvement of the torsional vibration of input shaft and the vehicle vibration by tuning of the TDSTC.

  • 세계 각국은 새로운 유비쿼터스 환경변화에 맞추어 전략적 차원에서 u-IT에 대한 연구와 다양한 프로젝트를 추진 중이다. 그 중 지역수준에서 u-정보화의 편익을 체감 할 수 있고, 지역산업 발전에도 기여할 수 있는 u-City 서비스 모델들을 발굴하여 집 중적으로 추진함으로써 지역 구성원들간 삶의 질을 제고하고 관련 산업의 성장을 도 모하고 있다. 그러나 유비쿼터스 환경의 중심 기술 중 하나인 RFID 기술은 다양한 기술적용환경과 표준화되지 않은 일부 기술들로 인하여, u-City 사업의 기대효과를 부 각시키지 못함은 물론 실제 지속적인 서비스모델로 적용하기도 쉽지 않은 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존의 문제점을 보완하여 새로운 u-City 서비스 모델로써 u-Zone 서비스 구축시에 필요한 듀얼밴드를 적용한 RFID 시스템의 소프트웨어 모듈과 OID개념을 도입한 데이터 프로토콜 표준적용에 관한 연구 방안을 모색하고자 한다.

  • A new SRAM pixel circuit with RESET Transistor of a LCOS display module was designed for a pico-projector application. A dual-block PWM method was also proposed to realize the field sequential color system having only one LCOS panel. 0.29 inch LCOS panel in SVGA resolution was fabricated and the proposed dual-block PWM method was tested with it. Discontinuity of brightness curve was caused due to multi-pulses and it was improved by the adoption of proper mapping table. With the proposed SRAM with RESET pixel circuit and dual-block PWM method, the test images were successfully demonstrated.

  • This article presents techniques for improved estimation of symbol timing offset (STO) and carrier frequency offset (CFO) for dual-polarization (DP) orthogonal frequency division multiplex (DP-OFDM) systems. Recently, quaternion multiple-input multiple-output OFDM has been proposed for high spectral efficiency communication systems, which can flexibly explore different types of diversities such as space, time, frequency, and polarization. This article focuses on synchronization techniques for DP-OFDM systems using a cyclic prefix, where the application of quaternion algebra leads to new improved estimators. Simulations performed for DP system methods show faster reduction of STO estimator variance with a double-slope line in the logvariance line versus signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) plot compared with singlepolarization (SP) counterparts, and simulations for CFO estimates show a 3-dB gain of DP over SP estimates for same SNR values defined, respectively, for quaternion-valued or complex-valued signals. Cramer-Rao bounds for STO and CFO are derived for the synchronization methods, correlating with the observed gains of DP over SP OFDM systems.

  • 본 논문은 DC마이크로그리드에서 저전압 배터리 에너지 저장 시스템과 DC 버스 연결을 위한 Dual Active Bridge(DAB) 컨버터의 제어 방법에 대한 연구이다. DC 마이크로그리드에서 전력을 효율적으로 사용하기 위해 양방향 전력전달이 쉬운 DAB 컨버터는 많이 사용되고 있다. 다만, 낮은 배터리 저장 시스템을 사용하는 경우 과도상태에서 DC 버스 측 커패시터를 충전하기 위해 높은 돌입전류가 발생하게 된다. 이러한, 높은 돌입전류는 시스템의 전력반도체 소자를 파손시키는 문제를 가져온다. 따라서, 초기 돌입전류를 저감시킬 수 있는 소프트 스타트 알고리즘이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 돌입전류 저감을 위한 소프트 스타트 알고리즘을 제안하고, 3kW급 DAB 컨버터의 실험 결과를 바탕으로 제안 된 알고리즘을 검증하였다.

Redundancy of Dual and Steel Moment Frame Systems under Earthquakes

  • The reliability/redundancy of structural system has become a serious concern among engineers and researchers after structural failures in Northridge and Kobe earthquakes. The reliability/redundancy factor, ρ, in current codes considers only member force and floor area and has received much criticism from dissatisfied engineers. Within a reliability framework. the redundancy is investigated for dual systems of primary shear walls and secondary moment frames and steel moment frame systems. Probabilistic performance analyses are carried out baled on nonlinear responses under SAC ground motion. The effects of structural configuration, ductilily capacity, 3-D motion, and uncertainty of demand verses capacity are investigated. Important redundancy-contributing factors are identified and a uniform-risk redundancy factor is developed for design. The result are compared with the p factor and its inconsistency is pointed out.

  • Recently a high speed spindle system for machine tools has attracted considerable attention to reduce the machining time, to improve the machining accuracy, to perform the machining of light metals and hard materials and to unite the cutting and grinding processes. In this study, a high speed spindle system is developed by applying the oil-air lubrication method, angular contact ball bearings, injection nozzles with dual orifices and so on. And a lubrication experiment for evaluating the performance of the spindle system is carried out. Especially, in order to establish the lubrication conditions related to the development of a high speed spindle system, the effects of oil supply rate, rotational spindle speed and so on are studied and discussed on the bearing temperature rise, bearing temperature distribution and frictional torque. And the effect of spindle system structure on the bearing temperature distribution is investigated.

  • In order to improve the quality of electricity in large scale power systems, stability of power system has to be achieved. This can be done by the means of preventative diagnosis of power equipments and protection, monitoring and control of the power system. Since the recent adoption of digital controllers, an improvement in stability was observed; in particular, IED, which contained self-diagnostic abilities such as fault tolerance, allowed for automatic recovery via redundancy or switching-over functions should there be faults with the equipments. Furthermore, communication lines have been hugely simplified, thus adding to the improvement in stability significantly. Taking these error reports and forecasting emergency reports and by effectively responding to them in the overiding controlling systems, high levels of system stability can be obtained. Power Management System that is being applied to automated power sub-stations, takes the IEC61850 international standard as its specification. In this paper, additional research into achieving stability of already developed PMS system and also the stability of the overall system was carried out, and the results of development of communication servers, which play a pivotal role in connecting systems, are stated.

  • This paper propose a dual-layer beam-forming technique for MIMO-OFDM systems. Dual-layer beam-forming is a capacity enhancing technique to transmit two streams of source data with more than two transmit and receive antennas. Beamforming is a technique to enhance the link-level performances gain using antenna array with the small inter element distance. The proposed scheme can obtain both high capacity of spatial multiplexing and antenna array gain of beamforming for MIMO-OFDM systems. Therefore, it provides better BER performance than the traditional spatial multiplexing and beamforming techniques under the same simulation environment.
