Varietal Differences of Dry Matter Accumulation and Related Characters in Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the patterns of dry matter (DM) production and accumulation, and to screen the relationships between related major growth characters and DM accumulation in four cassava varieties in Bogor $(6^{\circ}19'-6^{\circ}47'S,\;106^{\circ}21'-107^{\circ}13'E)$, West Java, Indonesia. Gading and Adiral developed an enough source and canopy in short at the early growth phase and then translocated assimilates to storage roots with a higher partitioning rate, even these varieties were considered as early-bulking varieties, which have superior source and sink potentials in increasing yield and DM of tubers. The root/shoot ratio (R/SR), total dry weight (TDW), leaf area duration, leaf area index (LAI), and number of tubers showed higher positive correlations with the dry weight of roots (DWR), and the direct effects of TDW, R/SR, and LAI on the DWR were higher. These characters were considered to be useful target characters to screen cassava varieties with high yield potential and high DM in aspect of tuber production.

동계 녹비작물 초종별 화학성분 및 생산성 비교 (Comparisons of Chemical Composition and Forage Yield Among Winter Green Manure Crops)

  • Plant characteristics of four winter crop hairy vetch, red clover, crimson clover and rye as green manure were evaluated at three harvesting time(Apri1 23, May 9, May 28) in spring to select superior winter green manure crop. Rye and hairy vetch had superior wintering ability and produced high dry matter compared with crimson clover and red clover. But N amount of rye was small because of its low plant N% despite of early dry matter accumulation. Wintering ability of crimson clover was very poor, so its dry matter decreased rapidly with low seeding rate. Hairy vetch had high N % (4%, C:N ratio 11) and produced high N yield among four plant. It is estimated that hairy vetch have high N-fixing ability because its N% was not changed largely despite of dry matter accumulation at late harvesting time contrast to the other legume. It was thought that hairy vetch was superior green manure crop in considering yield of dry matter and N. (Key words : Winter legumes, Hairy vetch, Green manure yield, Nitrogen concentration)

Nitrogen Translocation and Dry Matter Accumulation of Direct Seeded Rice in No Tillage Rice-Vetch Cropping

  • Uptake, assimilation and translocation of nitrogen and dry matter assimilation and translocation in ten rice cultivars were observed in no-till direct-sown rice-vetch cropping system. There was a large degree of variation in N-uptake, grain yield, nitrogen translocation efficiency and dry matter assimilation and translocation in tested rice cultivars. Forty kg N/ha base, as compound fertilizer (21-17-21% of N-P-K) three weeks after sowing and 30 kg N/ha top-dressed at panicle initiation stage as in the form of (NH$_4$)$_2$$CO_2$ was applied. ‘Newbounet’, ‘Daesanbyeo’, and ‘Hwayeongbyeo’ showed higher translocation efficiency. The contribution of pre-heading dry matter assimilates to grain ranged from 33% to 99% of dry grain weight. Dry matter of ‘Calrose 76’ was lower than Newbounet but N content was higher in Calrose 76 than Newbonnet. By maturity, N content in vegetative parts declined considerably more than dry matter, vegetative and reproductive parts, N translocation efficiency, and N harvest index. Nitrogen translocation efficiency was greater in ‘Nonganbyeo’, Daesanbyeo, and Newbounet. Grain N concentration was positively correlated with N concentration or N content of the vegetative parts at heading in Nonganbyeo, ‘Dasanbyeo’, ‘Dongjinbyeo’, and Newbonnet. These results indicated that the greater amount of dry matter and N accumulated before heading stage, the higher translocation rates of dry matter to grain and the greater net losses at maturity.

신개간지에서 구비 및 삼요소시용이 청예사료작물의 생육 및 건물축적에 미치는 영향 (effect of Cattle Compost and NPK Application on Growth and Dry Matter Accumulation of Selected Forage Crops on Neqly Reclaimed Uplands)

  • A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of cattle compost application on the change of soil physical properties and their relationship to yield performance of selected main forage crops. Maize(CV. Suweon 19) and sorghum hybrids(CV. Pioneer 9'31) as a summer crops and winter rye were grown on newly reclaimed red yellow soils(Fine loamy, Typic Hapludults) under different application rate of cattle compost associated with chemical NPK fertilization, from Oct. 1986 to Sept. 1989. Experimental field was laid down as a split plots design with four replications. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Cattle compost application reclaimed soil physical propeties, such as formation of granular structure and water holding capacity, and it result in a great increase of plant growth and the rate of dry matter accumulation. 2. While cattle compost treatment reduced the portion of soild phase of the three phase constituents of soils, it increased the portion of air phase and liquid phase comparatively. 3. Organic matter, N, P, K, and mineral content in soil were markedly increased in the plot treated with compost. 4. Cattle compost application increased fodder production both in maize-rye and sorghum hybrids-rye cultivation. Annual dry matter yield of maize-rye cropping was 2183(NI'K only), 2425(NPK+compvst 3000 kg) and 2800kg/lOa(NPK + compost 6000kg/10a).

  • 種實用 수수와 수단그라스의 交雜種인 Pioneer 988의, 窒素施肥水準에 따른 時期別 生育 및 乾物生産量을 조사하기 위하여 本 硏究를 실시하였다. 窒素肥科는 成分量으로 10a當 15, 25, 35kg을 施用하였으며 幼植物로부터 開花後期까지의 生育期間게 몇가지 特性을 調麥한바 그 結果는 다음과 같이 要約된다. 1. 出現葉數는 生育이 進行됨에 따라 증가했는데 穗孕期까지 급격한 증가를 보였고, 出穗期에는 最終葉인 15葉이 出現했다. 2. 葉面積指數는 生育의 進行에 따라 증가했는데, 특히 穗孕期까지 그 增加가 급격했으며, 室素施肥水準別로는 幼穗分化期까지 15kg 施肥區에서 컷으나 穗孕期 以後에는 35kg 施肥區에서 컷다. 3. 乾物收量은 穗孕期 以前에는 15kg 施肥區에서 많았으나, 穗孕期 以後에는 35kg 施肥區에서 많았다. 4 乾物生産速度는 純同化率 및 平均 葉面積指數와 밀접한 관계가 있었으며 生育後期에는 純同化率의 增加와 더욱 밀접한 관계를 나타냈다.

Salinity Tolerance of Blackgram and Mungbean: I. Dry Matter Accumulation in Different Plant Parts

  • Dry matter(DM) accumulation in different plant parts of two Vigna spp., blackgram(Vigna mungo) and mungbean(Vigna radiata), was compared at different levels of salinity. Two vaarieties of each of blackgram (Barimash-1 and Barimash-2) and mungbean(Barimung-3 and Barimung-4) were grown with 50, 75 and 100mM NaCl solutions and tap water as a control till maturity. The DM accumulation in all plant parts of the two crops devreased with the increasing salinity levels. The reducation was severe in mungbean compared to blackgram. On an average mungbean produced only 3% grain yield compared to 37% in blackgram at 100mM NaCl. The salinity induced growth reduction was relatively less in Barimash-2 than that in Barimash-1. In mungbean, the relative DM production of Barimung-3 was greater than Barimung-4. The extent of biomass reducation due to salinity in different plant parts was not similar. At maturity the rank of biomass accumulation (at 100 mM NaCl) in different plant parts of blackgram was in decreasing order by seeds pod$^{-1}$ (97%), branch plant$^{-1}$ (88%), 1000-grain weight (79%), plant height(72%), pods plant$^{-1}$ (50%), leaf weight and root mass(both 49%) and stem weight (48%). In mungbean, the rank was in decreasing order by 1000-grain weight (57%), leaf weight (54%), plant height (52%), seeds pod$^{-1}$ (50%), branch plant$^{-1}$ (41%), root weight (34%), stem weight (24%) and pods plant$^{-1}$ (6%). Therefore, salinity reduced grain yield more than straw and roots of the Vignaq spp., and blackgram is relatively more salt-tolerant than mungbean.

Dry Matter Accumulation, Harvest Index, and Yield of Soybean in Response to Planting Time

  • Planting date of soybeans [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] is one of production components in cultural systems. The objective of the current study was to identify the components of soybean production and cultural practices encompassing planting dates and cultivars that respond to dry matter accumulation, harvest index and yield components. Three determinate soybean cultivars were planted on May 13 (early), June 3 (mid), and June 24 (late). Planting density was 60$\times$15cm with 2 seeds (222,000 plants per ha). Soybean plants were sampled every 10 days interval from the growth stages of V5 to R8 and separated into leaves including petioles, stems, pods, and seeds. Dry matter accumulations, harvest indices, and yield components were measured. Early planting had taken 55 days from VE to R2 and late planting taken 39 days indicating reduced vegetative growth. Early planting showed higher leaf, stem, pod and seed dry weights than late planting. However, late planting appeared to be higher harvest index and harvesting rate. Vegetative mass including leaf and stem increased to a maximum around R4/R5 and total dry weight increased to a maximum around R5/R6 and then declined slightly at R8. The highest seed yield was obtained with mid planting and no difference was found between early and late plantings. Cultivar differences were found among planting dates on growth characteristics and yield components. The results of this experiment indicated that soybean yield in relation to planting dates examined was mainly associated with harvest index and harvesting rate, and planting date of cultivars would be considered soybean plants to reach the growth stage of R4/R5 after mid August for adequate seed yield.

생태형이 다른 대두품종의 생육 및 건물축적 (Growth and Dry Matter Accumulation in Different Ecotypes of Soybeans (Glycine max. L.))

  • 하대두형 및 추대두형 콩품종에 대하여 파종기를 달리 했을 때 생육상의 차를 구명하고, 또한 건물축적양상 비교하기 위하여 1987년 천안시 안서동에 위치한 단국대 농대 실습포장에서 시험을 수행하였다. 극조반(4월 15일파종)나 그후 파종(5월 15일 및 6월 15일)에서 하ㆍ추대두형품종간 출현율의 차가 관찰되지 않아 포장에서 저온발아성의 차를 검정한다는 것은 어렵다고 판단되었고, 또한 하ㆍ추대두형간 개화일수단축정도의 차도 없었으나, 하대두형인 DN82029-3이나 ES18085-1의 조ㆍ만파기 생육일수의 차가 추대두형인 장엽콩이나 팔달콩에 비하여 크지 않아, 생육후기 고온에 의한 결실일수가 촉진되어 만파에서 추대두형에 비하여 몇가지 수량구성요소의 감소정도가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 하대두형은 추대두형에 비하여 만파에서 도장정도가 심함 것으로 관찰되었다. 하대두형인 DN82029-3이이나 추대두형인 단엽콩 및 장엽콩은 개화시 이후에도 경엽신장이 큰 폭으로 증가된 바, 개화시 이후 3품종 모두 경장이 17∼32cm가 신장되었으며, 엽면적지수도 개화시 이후 0.83∼1.53의 증가를 보여 엽의 신장이 큰 폭임을 나타내 주었다. 하대두형인 DN82029-3은 단엽콩이나 장엽콩에 비하여 49일이나 빨리 최고건물중을 나타냈으나, 절대량은 추대두형의 최고건물중의 약 50% 수준이어서 5월 15일 파종시 일장둔감형인 하대두형은 충분한 영양생장을 이루지 못한 가운데 생식생장기 간으로 접어들어 건물축적량이 크게 낮아지게 되고, 이것이 낮은 수량의 원인으로 보인다.

사초용유채(Brassica napus ssp. oleifera)의 생육기간중 건물 및 조단백질 축적과 엽내 Carbon 및 Nitrogen 함량의 변화 (Evolution of Carbon and Nitrogen Concentrations in the Leaves as Related to Dry Matter and Crude Protein Accumulation of Forage Rape(Brassica napus ssp. oleifera))

  • 가을에 파종한 사초용유채(Brassica napus Subsp. oleifera cv. Swiss)의 생육기간 동안의 질소대사와 관련하여 건물수량 및 조단백질의 축적정도를 규명하기 위해. 생육기간중 수량 및 조단백질 함량을 측정하고, 엽내 carbon, nitrogen 및 hydrogen 함량을 비교. 분석하였다. 월동기인 '91년 11월 7일부터 '92년 2월 4일 동안의 생초량 및 건물량의 축적은 매우 적었으며, 엽내 C함량은 건물 1g당 382mg에서 435mg으로 증가하였으나. 질소 및 조단백질 함량은 55mg에서 46mg 및 345mg에서 289mg으로 각각 감소하였다. 월동후 춘계 재생초기(2월 3일부터 3월 30일까지) 동안 생초수량의 점차적인 증가에 따라 엽내 C함량은 일당 37mg의 감소를 보였으나, 월동기 동안 감소 되었던 N함량은 다소 증가를 보였다. 영양생장기(3월 31일)부터 추태기인 4월 16일까지 일당 개체당 생초 및 건물축적량은 각각 5.2g 및 0.5g으로 전 생육기간중 가장 높았는데, 엽내의 C/N 의 정상적인 균형을 유지하며 직선적인 증가를 보였고, 조단백질 함량 역시 지속적인 축적이 있었다. 이 시기 이후 개화최성기('92년 5월 19일)까지 엽내 C, N, H 및 조단백질 함량은 공히 유의적인 감소를 보였는데, 특히 N과 조단백질 함량이 추태기에 비해 각각 45.7% 및 46%의 감소로 뚜렷하였다 이들 결과들은 월동기나 월동 후 초기재생 기간중 식물체내 C/N 균형의 현저한 변화를 가져오며, 춘계 영양생장기에서 추태기 동안(3월 31일부터 4월 16일까지)가장 원활한 물질대사에 따라 엽내의 건물 및 조단백질 축적이 왕성하다는 것을 보여준다. 따라서 예취이용의 적기는 추태기이며 생육기간 중 추비적기는 춘계 영양생장기 이전으로 사료된다.
