Single-Phase Transformerless Inverter using Passive Bypass Filter (수동 바이패스 필터를 이용한 단상 무변압기형 인버터)

  • Previous single-phase transformerless inverters used active bypass switching circuits that need auxiliary power switches to minimize ground leakage current. However, switching and gate driving losses are increased due to the use of additional power switches. To cope with this drawback, this work proposes a transformerless inverter using a passive bypass filter without any auxiliary power switch. The operation and control of the proposed inverter are described. The ground leakage current characteristics are analyzed for the proposed inverter with the passive bypass filter. The experimental results of the proposed inverter for a 1.0kW prototype system are presented.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a circuit consisting of a simmer power supply unit and a series trigger unit that can be applicable to xenon lamp driving. An LCC resonant converter based on the continuous conduction mode (CCM) is applied to the simmer circuit and by using the current output control it is possible to maintain the ionization of the lamp which has the negative resistance load characteristic. At the same time, in order to generate a high voltage, a series trigger circuit which has a number of capacitors and diodes is designed. The generated high trigger output voltage could ionize the xenon gas. This paper explains the configuration and features of the integrated circuit system, and verifies the proposed design and stable operation of the xenon lamp. The experimental and simulation results show the not only rationality but also stability of the proposed circuit.

Elasto-plastic Joint Finite Element Analysis of Root-pile Using the Direct Shear Test Model (직접전단시험모델에 의한 뿌리말뚝의 탄소성조인트 유한요소해석)

  • The stability of slope using root-pile like to the reinforcements is affected by the interaction behavior mechanism of soil-reinforcements. Through the studying on the interaction in joint of its, therefore, the control roles can be find out in installed slope. In study, the stress level ratio based on the insert angle of installed reinforcements in soil used to numerical analysis, which was results from the duty direct shear test in Lab. The maximum shear strain variation on the reinforcements was observed at insert angle, which was approximately similar to the calculated angle based on the equation proposed by the Jewell. The elasto-plastic joint model on the contact area of soil-reinforcements was presumed, the reinforced soil assumed non-linear elastic model and the reinforcements supposed elastic model, respectively. The finite element analysis of assumed models was performed. The shear strain variation of non-reinforced state obtained by the FEM analysis including elasto-plastic joint elements were shown the rationality of general limit equilibrium analysis for the slope failure mode on driving zone and resistance zone, which based on the stress level step according to failure ratio. Through the variation of shear strain for the variation of inserting angle of reinforcements, the different mechanism on the bending and the shear resistance of reinforcements was shown fair possibility.

  • Foot bionic robot could be supported and towed through a series of discrete footholds and be adapted to rugged terrain through attitude adjustment. The vibration isolation of the robot could decouple the fuselage from foot-end trajectories, thus, the robot walked smoothly even if in a significant terrain. The gait programming and foot end trajectory algorithm were simulated. The quadruped robot of parallel five linkages with eight degrees of freedom were tested. The kinematics model of the robot was established by setting the corresponding coordinate system. The forward and inverse kinematics of both supporting and swinging legs were analyzed, and the angle function of single leg driving joint was obtained. The trajectory planning of both supporting and swinging phases was carried out, based on the control strategy of compound cycloid foot-end trajectory planning algorithm with zero impact. The single leg was simulated in Matlab with the established kinematic model. Finally, the walking mode of the robot was studied according to bionics principles. The diagonal gait was simulated and verified through the foot-end trajectory and the kinematics.

  • For many years there has been a trend to increased electrical energy consumption in cars caused by the replacement of mechanical parts by electronic or mechanical devices as well as the introduction of new electronic features. Whereas the number of electrical consumers continues to increase, the battery is still the only passive power source available. Because of this reason, needs for driving power of the engine accessories such as alternator system have increased. Usually, conventional alternator system is directly driven by the crankshaft of engine with belt. Since this increase bring about additional fuel economy. To improve this system automobile makers develops new controled alternator system. This paper focuses on fuel economy improvement according to control of alternator. In this paper, researches are performed on effect of type of Alternator system on fuel economy by experiment. And it is also calculated the effect on vehicle fuel economy using computer simulation with AVL cruise software. As a result, 0.64% of vehicle fuel economy improvement can be achieved in a vehicle with controled Alternator system compared to a vehicle with conventional Alternator system in NEDC mode.

  • As resent trends in structural construction have been to build taller and larger structures than any time in the past, they have had high flexibility and low damping that can cause large vibration response under severe environmental loading such as earthquakes, winds, and mechanical excitations. The damper with mass and sqring is one aproach to safeguarding the structure against excessive vibrations. In this paper, a large capacity hybrid-type linear motor damper(LMD) was designed and fabricated for the application to the vibration control of a large building structure model. It has been designed to be able to move the damper mass, 1,500 kg up to ${\pm}250mm$ strokes at the first mode natural frequency of the building structure model, ${\pm}0.51Hz$. Linear motor is consisted of the fixed coil and the movable NdFeB permanent magnets field part. The PM field part composed magnet modules and iron yoke, is the damper mass itself, 1500kg. LMD therefore has a simplified structure and requires a few elements in the driving system, being compared with a rotary motor damper and a hydraulic damper. However, the manufacture of large PM linear actuator is difficult because of the limit of PM size and the attraction and repulsion at the assembly of PM. Therefore, large damper system is manufactured and tested for dynamic characteristics and frequency response.

Estimation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors for Motorcycle (이륜자동차의 대기오염물질 배출계수 산정을 위한 연구)

  • While increased use of motor cycles in the recent years for various demands could worsen air quality, only few studies have been conducted on estimation of emission factors and characterization of emissions from motorcycle. In this study, emissions from selected six models of motorcycle based on largest market share and production rate were investigated. To investigate gaseous and carbonaceous air pollutants, such as carbon monoxide (CO), total hydrocarbon (THC), nitrogen oxide ($NO_x$), elemental carbon (EC) and organic carbon (OC), total 124 motorcycles between 2003 and 2007 model year were tested with regulatory driving conditions, such as CVS-40 and CVS-47 mode. These motorcycles were further sub-categorized based on their displacement (< 50 cc, 50~150 cc, and $\geq$ 150 cc), type of stroke (2- and 4 strokes) and model year (2003~2005 and 2006~2007). Tested motorcycles with recent model year (2006~2007) exhibited less emissions of regulatory gaseous and carbonaceous air pollutants compared to old model year (2003~2005). Chemical analysis showed that CO present in highest concentration followed by THC and $NO_x$ for all tested motorcycles. Interestingly, two strokes motorcycle produced higher THC emission but less CO and $NO_x$ than those of four strokes. For all types of displacement and stroke, emission factors (gram per kilometer) of THC and CO except $NO_x$ with recent model year (2006~2007) showed decreased trend compared to old model year (2003~2005). In addition to this, due to mixed combustion between gasoline fuel and lubricant, two strokes motorcycle showed OC > EC emission trend.

  • In this paper, we design a 256-bit EEPROM IP using only logic process-based devices. We propose EEPROM core circuits, a control gate (CG) and a tunnel gate (TG) driving circuit, to limit the voltages between the devices within 5.5V; and we propose DC-DC converters : VPP (=+4.75V), VNN (-4.75V), and VNNL (=VNN/3) generation circuit. In addition, we propose switching powers, CG_HV, CG_LV, TG_HV, TG_LV, VNNL_CG, VNNL_TG switching circuit, to be supplied for the CG and TG driving circuit. Simulation results under the typical simulation condition show that the power consumptions in the read, erase, and program mode are $12.86{\mu}W$, $22.52{\mu}W$, and $22.58{\mu}W$ respectively. Furthermore, the manufactured test chip operated normally and generated its target voltages of VPP, VNN, and VNNL as 4.69V, -4.74V, and -1.89V.

Development of Defect Inspection System for Polygonal Containers (다각형 용기의 결함 검사 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose the development of a defect inspection system for polygonal containers. Embedded board consists of main part, communication part, input/output part, etc. The main unit is a main arithmetic unit, and the operating system that drives the embedded board is ported to control input/output for external communication, sensors and control. The input/output unit converts the electrical signals of the sensors installed in the field into digital and transmits them to the main module and plays the role of controlling the external stepper motor. The communication unit performs a role of setting an image capturing camera trigger and driving setting of the control device. The input/output unit converts the electrical signals of the control switches and sensors into digital and transmits them to the main module. In the input circuit for receiving the pulse input related to the operation mode, etc., a photocoupler is designed for each input port in order to minimize the interference of external noise. In order to objectively evaluate the accuracy of the development of the proposed polygonal container defect inspection system, comparison with other machine vision inspection systems is required, but it is impossible because there is currently no machine vision inspection system for polygonal containers. Therefore, by measuring the operation timing with an oscilloscope, it was confirmed that waveforms such as Test Time, One Angle Pulse Value, One Pulse Time, Camera Trigger Pulse, and BLU brightness control were accurately output.

Implementation of CCSDS Telecommand Decryptor in Geostationary Communications Satellite (정지궤도 통신위성의 CCSDS 원격명령 암호복호기 구현)

  • In this paper, a CCSDS(Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems) telecommand(TC) decryptor for the security of geostationary communications satellite was implemented. For the confidentiality of CCSDS TC datalink security, Option-A which implements the security services below the transfer sublayer was selected. Also CFB(Cipher Feedback) operation mode of DES(Data Encryption Standard) was used for the encryption of 56-bit data bits in 64-bit codeblock. To verify Decryptor function, the DES CFB logic implemented on A54SX32 FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) was integrated with interface and control logics in a PCB(Printed Circuit Board). Using a function test PC, the encrypted codeblocks were generated, transferred into the decryptor, decrypted, and the decrypted codeblocks were transmitted to the function test PC, and then compared with the source codeblocks. Through LED(Light Emitting Diode) ON operation by driving the relay related to Op-code decoded and the comparison between the codeblock output waveforms measured and those simulated, the telecommand decryptor function was verified.
