Simulated driving behavior is an important aspect of realistic simulation systems. To simulate natural driving behavior, this paper proposes an imitation learning method based on active learning that combines demonstration and experience. Driving demonstrations are collected from human drivers in a driving simulator. A driving behavior policy is learned from these demonstrations. The driving demonstration dataset is augmented with new demonstrations that the original demonstrations did not contain, in the form of behaviors from another driving behavior policy learned from experience. The final driving behavior policy is learned from an augmented demonstration dataset.

Eco driving is a strategy to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicle. However, it has not received much attention until recently. Psychological studies on this issue have been limited and the majority of existing studies have primarily been based on engineering and educational approaches. This study examined the effects of a self-management technique on two driving behaviors: speeding and putting the gears in neutral while waiting at the signal. The self-management technique consisted of three behavior interventions: goal-setting, self-monitoring, and reward. Three drivers participated in this study. An AB multiple baseline design across participants was adopted. Results showed that the self-management technique was effective in increasing both driving behaviors. Implications of the present findings and suggestions for future research were discussed.

Vehicle occupant postures are anticipated to vary more widely during automated driving and to become more significant in terms of the autonomous vehicle safety. Experimental and computational approaches are needed to investigate and evaluate occupant behaviors during automated driving in general. However the validity and effect of such occupant postures are unknown, thus it is necessary to examine occupant behaviors and injury countermeasures for various occupant postures. This study was focused on the development and evaluation of restraint system model for occupant behavior examinations in the first step according to autonomous vehicle occupant safety. The finite element models of dummy and restraint system were set up and simulation results showed overall model performance and safety tolerances of different reclined occupant postures during frontal impact loading.

In spite of the efforts to reduce traffic accidents of commercial vehicles, the number of driving under the influence (DUI) of commercial drivers has been increasing. This study examines the effect of stress coping style of commercial drivers on driving behaviors. Specifically, this research aims to find the role of life stress as a mediator in the relationships between the stress coping style and problematic drinking behaviors. 1308 licensed commercial vehicle drivers participated in this research. Results showed that life stress mediated the relationships between problem focused strategies, wishful thinking strategies, passive avoidance strategies and problematic drinking behaviors. These findings indicate that educating drivers to change their stress coping styles would be helpful to inhibit them from being involved in drunken driving.
Driving workload is increasing according to developing new in-vehicle devices and introducing driving information systems. In this research using a driving simulator, EFRP (Eye Fixation Related Potential) was measured for evaluating driving attention and distraction while tasking cognitive workload, n-back tasks. The result of EFRP was compared with driver behaviors. Results suggest that EFRP is able to use for a method of evaluating driving workload, however, the analysis of driver behavior is difficult to find driving attention and distraction in the case of free flow of traffic situation.

Traditional ecological driving (Eco-Driving) evaluations often rely on mathematical models that predominantly offer subjective insights, which limits their application in real-world scenarios. This study develops a robust, data-driven Eco-Driving evaluation model by integrating dynamic and distributed multi-source data, including vehicle performance, road conditions, and the driving environment. The model employs a combination weighting method alongside K-means clustering to facilitate a nuanced comparative analysis of Eco-Driving behaviors across vehicles with identical energy consumption profiles. Extensive data validation confirms that the proposed model is capable of assessing Eco-Driving practices across diverse vehicles, roads, and environmental conditions, thereby ensuring more objective, comprehensive, and equitable results.

For the commercialization of automated vehicles, it is necessary to create various scenarios that can evaluate driving safety and establish a data system that can verify them. Depending on the vehicle's ODD (Operational Design Domain), there are numerous scenarios with various parameters indicating vehicle driving conditions, but no systematic methodology has been proposed to create and combine scenarios to test them. Therefore, projects are actively underway abroad to establish a scenario library for real-world testing or simulation of autonomous vehicles. However, since it is difficult to obtain data, research is being conducted based on simulations that simulate real road. Therefore, in this study, parameters calculated through individual vehicle trajectory data extracted based on roadside CCTV image-based driving environment DB was proposed through the extracted data. This study can be used as basic data for safety standards for scenarios representing various driving behaviors.
Aggressive driving is defined as 'driving behavior which intentionally incurs danger and distress to other drivers and passengers'. It increases the possibility of traffic accidents. Also, it threatens lives of drivers ana passengers and brings social and economic harm. According to previous studies. these aggressive behaviors are affected by not only the personality of drivers but also psychosocial factors, such as attitude, aggressive intention, time pressure, and traffic situations, However, most studies on aggressive behaviors conducted with field studies and surveys suggest correlation, not causal relationship. Therefore, in the current study tue authors measured individual factors-the driver's intention for aggressive driving and manipulated time pressure-to examine the interaction effects. As a result. the difference between conditions was significant depending on the level of aggressive intention and time pressure. These differences were also significant depending on the types of aggressive driving behaviors. In particular, the interaction effect of the driver's intention and time pressure on improper passing (cutting drivers off when passing) was significant. Finally the limitations of the current study and implications or using a car simulator are discussed.
Nowadays, aggressive driving is a common driving behavior and it is raised as a dangerous factor for both drivers and passengers. However, it is hard to find studies on aggressive driving in Korea, and even the definition of aggressive behavior is not clearly explained. In this study, the term "aggressive behavior" is defined based on previous studies, and the significance of several psycho-social factors which affect aggressive driving were verified with the 'habit' factor from the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). In the pilot study, domestic drivers reported that aggressive behaviors included speeding, traffic light signal violation, and improper passing (cutting drivers off when passing). In this study, controlling the demographic characteristics of these three aggressive behaviors, the authors explored the relationship of the behaviors with TPB factors such as the habit factor. Consequently, in the case of drivers' intentions for speeding and traffic light signal violations, subjective norm, perceived behavioral controllability, and habit were significant factors. In the case of intentions for improper passing, only perceived behavioral controllability and habit were significant. In speeding behavior and traffic light signal violations, only habit was significant besides intention; however, in improper passing, both perceived behavioral controllability and habit were significant besides intention. The authors also tested an alternative model including TPB and habit factors for three types of aggressive driving. Finally, there are several implications for a possible intervention program for aggressive driving, though there are some limitations of the study.

Out-of-home (Out-of-Home) advertising can be an effective means of delivering messages for preventing drowsy driving, given that it is exposed at locations and times where vehicle traffic occurs. This study investigated the influence of message framing of drowsy driving prevention OOH advertising and regulatory focus on the intention to drowsy driving prevention behaviors by an experimental study targeting 200 university students. The results showed an interaction effect between message framing and regulatory focus on the intention to drowsy driving prevention behaviors. While no significant differences were observed in the intention to drowsy driving prevention behaviors based on regulatory focus for positively framed messages, for negatively framed messages, a higher intention was observed when the prevention focus group rather than promotion focus group. This study focuses on two key areas: how messages are crafted (message framing) and the characteristics of the people who receive them (regulatory focus). By exploring these aspects, it provides valuable theoretical and practical knowledge. Essentially, it opens doors for creating message strategies that are finely tailored to suit the preferences of the audience. This advancement is vital for researchers and practitioners as it enhances the effectiveness of communication efforts.
