  • High speed on-off electro-magnetic valves have been used for pressure control or flow control in automotive or construction machine servomechanisms. These systems require quicker valve switching speed to improve control preciseness. The authors designed and manufactured an electric valve driver with quick response characteristics by using 3 power source type valve driver concept. In experiments by using a hydraulic system incorporating the new valve driver, the new driver shortened the switching lag time from 5 ms to 1.3 ms. And also the new driver showed excellent position tracking control performances.

  • The aim of this study is to collect driver's psychophysiological signal under various road condition and to select and quantify psychophysiological variables for diagnosis of road-driver compatibility. A 4x4 vehicle with measuring devices was developed to collect driver's psychophysiological signal and collected driver's psychophysiological signal under various road conditions. The collected data were analyzed by the temporal pattern of signal overtime. Thirteen bio-signals with consistent pattern were selected and quantified in terms of slope and amplitude of the signal. These quantified values could be used as a part of tool to diagnose the road-driver compatibility.

  • As the data rate between chip-to-chip gets high, the skin effect and load of pins deteriorate noise margin. With these, noise disturbances on the bus channel make it difficult for receiver circuits to read the data signal. This paper has proposed a new pre-emphasis driver circuit which achieves wide noise margin by enlarging the signal voltage range during data transition. When data is transferred from a memory chip to a controller, the output boltage of the driver circuit reaches the final values through the intermediate voltage level. The proposed driver supplies more currents applicable to a packet-based memory system, because it needs no additional control signal and realizes very small area. The circuit has been designed in a 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process, and HSPICE simulation results have shown that the data rate of 1.32 Gbps be achieved. Due to its result, the proposed driver can achieved higher speed than conventional driver by 10%.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive multimodal in-vehicle information system for safe driving. The proposed system filters input information based on both the priority assigned to the information and the given driving situation, to effectively manage input information and intelligently provide information to the driver. It then interacts with the driver using an adaptive multimodal interface by considering both the driving workload and the driver's cognitive reaction to the information it provides. It is shown experimentally that the proposed system can promote driver safety and enhance a driver's understanding of the information it provides by filtering the input information. In addition, the system can reduce a driver's workload by selecting an appropriate modality and corresponding level with which to communicate. An analysis of subjective questionnaires regarding the proposed system reveals that more than 85% of the respondents are satisfied with it. The proposed system is expected to provide prioritized information through an easily understood modality.

  • In this paper, a cost-effective single switch multi-channel LED (light emitting diode) driver is proposed. While conventional LED drivers require as many non-isolated DC/DC converters as the number of LED channels, the proposed LED driver needs only one power switch and several balancing capacitors instead of expensive non-isolated DC/DC converters. Therefore, the proposed driver features a simpler structure, with a lower cost and a higher efficiency. Because its power switch can be turned off under the zero current switching condition, it has very desirable advantages such as improved electromagnetic interference characteristics and high efficiency. Moreover, it uses only a small number of DC blocking capacitors with no additional active devices for the current balancing of multi-channel LEDs. As a result, the proposed driver exhibits high reliability and is cost effective. To confirm the validity of the proposed driver, a theoretical analysis is performed, and design considerations and experimental results obtained from a prototype that is applicable to a 46" LED-TV are presented.

  • Recently, due to the development of related technologies for autonomous vehicles, driving work is changing more safely. However, the development of support technologies for level 5 full autonomous driving is still insufficient. That is, even in the case of an autonomous vehicle, the driver needs to drive through forward attention while driving. In this paper, we propose a method to monitor driving tasks by recognizing driver behavior. The proposed method uses pre-trained deep convolutional neural network models to recognize whether the driver's face or body has unnecessary movement. The use of pre-trained Deep Convolitional Neural Network (DCNN) models enables high accuracy in relatively short time, and has the advantage of overcoming limitations in collecting a small number of driver behavior learning data. The proposed method can be applied to an intelligent vehicle safety driving support system, such as driver drowsy driving detection and abnormal driving detection.

  • One of the major factors determining the printing quality of a color printer is the color matching that is performed inside the printer driver In this paper, the mini driver for the color printer is built using the Microsoft 98DDK. Also, the ICC profile proposed as the standard for the color management system is generated. The color matching capability of the mini driver with the ICC profile is examined and compared with that of the commercial printer driver.

  • We designed and tested a new scan driver output stage. Compared to conventional CMOS structured scan driver IC′s, the new NMOSFET-only scan driver circuit can reduce the chip area and therefore, the chip cost considerably. We confirmed the circuit operation with open drain power NMOSFET IC′s by driving 2"PDP test panel. We defined critical device parameters and their optimization methods lot the best circuit performance.

  • A new plasma display panel sustaining driver using single side sustaining technique with a dual resonant method is proposed in this paper. Since this circuit enables to keep device voltage stress same as the prior circuit, it can be a low cost circuit compared to a conventional driver. To integrate the sustaining function into one side with a single power source in the driver, a charge pump method is adopted to make negative sustaining voltage and to achieve dual resonant energy recovery on the sustaining modes.
