Complex organic molecules (COMs) are increasingly observed in the environs of young stellar objects (YSOs), including hot cores/corinos around high-mass/low-mass protostars and protoplanetary disks. It is widely believed that COMs are first formed in the ice mantle of dust grains and subsequently released to the gas by thermal sublimation at high temperatures (T>100 K) in strong stellar radiation fields. In this paper, we report a new mechanism that can desorb COMs from icy grain mantles at low temperatures (T<100K), which is termed rotational desorption. The rotational desorption process of COMs comprises two stages: (1) ice mantles on suprathermally rotating grains spun-up by radiative torques (RATs) are first disrupted into small fragments by centrifugal stress, and (2) COMs and water ice then evaporate rapidly from the tiny fragments (i.e., radius a <1nm) due to thermal spikes or enhanced thermal sublimation due to increased grain temperature for larger fragments (a>1 nm). We discuss the implications of rotational desorption for releasing COMs and water ice in the inner region of protostellar envelopes (hot cores and corinos), photodissociation regions, and protoplanetary disks (PPDs). In shocked regions of stellar outflows, we find that nanoparticles can be spun-up to suprathermal rotation due to supersonic drift of neutral gas, such that centrifugal force can be sufficient to directly eject some molecules from the grain surface, provided that nanoparticles are made of strong material. Finally, we find that large aggregates (a~ 1-100 micron) exposed to strong stellar radiations can be disrupted into individual icy grains via RAdiative Torque Disruption (RATD) mechanism, which is followed by rotational desorption of ice mantles and evaporation of COMs. In the RATD picture, we expect some correlation between the enhancement of COMs and the depletion of large dust grains in not very dense regions of YSOs.

Microalgae are of significant importance for future biotechnological applications. Many microalgae banks or laboratories attempt to maintain various microalgae for further research purposes. Cryopreservation has been preferred to reduce a labor-intensive and costly routine sub-culturing. Cryopreservation can also diminish the genetic drift risk. However, cryopreservation as a long term storage of microalgae method are still in developing progress because it cannot be generalized for all microalgae. Microalgae types, cryoprotectant agents (CPAs) types, freezing and thawing methods are the most important factors that should be considered for cryopreservation. In this short review the basic principles and the current advanced of microalgae cryopreservation methods are discussed with a suggested starting parameters for microalgae cryopreservation.
A marine geological investigation of the glass sand deposit in the beach along the west coast of Ahnmyeon Island, South Chung Cheong Province, Korea was carried out to solve the problen of sand material migration, textural properties of the sands and the glass sand reserve for future exploitation. Several bos coring analyses by means of the internal sedimentary structure.i.e., cross- stratification show significantly that most sands are moving and accumulation along the mean vector direction of $N20^{\circ}E-N60^{\circ}$ E in the area investigated. The average mean size of the sand sediments in the area studied ranges from 0.212mm to 0.275mm. The mechanism of sand migration in the area is considered to be interplay between longshore drift and flood tidal current. The sorting value of the sands ranges from 0.24 to 0.50. Therefore, these sand sediments are characteristic to be "well sorted". The average chemical composition of the glass sand in the area is the following: $SiO\_2$:-90.8%, $Al_2O_3$: -2.18%, $Fe_2O_3$:-0.73%, CaO:-1.79. The binocular microscope examination of the sands show that most of the sands are characteristically ice- clear quartz in mineral composition and their count percentage is mostly 92% or 96%.
Two hundred suspended-matter samples were collected from the continental shelf off the southeast coast of Korea during September, 1981, March, 1982 and April 1983. Superficial bottom sediments on the shelf were also taken. Based on the alalyses of TSM distribution and concentration patterns, it is considered that finegrained suspended matters are restricted to nearshore-inner shelf showing a band or zone paralleling with coastal morphology. This fact suggests a limitation of "modern" fine grained sediments to a nearshore and inner shelf band. The sand deposits with the lower value of mud content (<5%) adjacent to the shelf break and on the outer shelf would probably be "relict" sediments (old beach sediments) deposited in response to a lower stand of sea level during the Pleistocene ice age. The transgression did little to alter the distribution of sand on the outer shelf in this particular study area. The progress of shore line was so rapid that a given locality was in the beach zone and subject to rapid longshore drift and extensive reworking only for a few years. Probably the most pronounced effect of the transgression was sorting of the sand, and at least partial winnowing out of the finer fractions.
The precise prediction of ships propulsion performance is very important to find out the ships optimum route. This paper describes the development of computer program to generate the database of propulsion performance for the ships optimum routing system. The propulsion performance of ship in the sea is caused by not only ships conditions such as drift and hull roughness, but also various sea conditions such as wave and wind. These prediction methods of added resistance are based on the ships speed trial analysis methods of the ISO 15016:2002 standard, and a few prediction methods of the wind and hull roughness are supplemented. These prediction methods have been applied to the comprehensive computer program. And the database calculation for the research ice breaker the Araon has been carried out, which shall be used for the calculation of optimum route. Furthermore, this program shall be used for the route optimization in global shipping routes.
