This study was performed to develop an antibacterial film that can be dried at room temperature. A nanosized TiO$_2$ particle-dispersed solution was prepared by the hydrothermal treatment of peroxo-titanic acid at 160${^{\circ}C}$ for 4h. The binder was synthesized through the hydrolysis and condensation reactions of TEOS (10cc) and GPTS (3.5cc) in the mixture of H$_2$O (30cc) and EtOH (30cc). The synthesized binder was mixed with 0.1 M of TiO$_2$ solution in a volume ratio of binder/TiO$_2$ solution=0.25~0.5. The glass substrate was coated after using the dip coating method, which was then followed by drying for over 2h at room temperature. Although the TiO$_2$ particles did not chemically-bond to the binder, the coating layer strongly adhered to the substrate and displayed good antibacterial properties.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different levels of dried leftover food (DLF) in the diet on feed utilization and egg-laying performance of hens. One hundred sixty-eight, 18 week old Tetra brown commercial layers, were assigned to 7 treatments in a completely randomized design. Each treatment has four replications per treatment with six animals per replication. All the experimental animals were fed diets for 7 weeks. The treatments included 1) control group without DLF, 2) diet with 10% DLF, 3) diet with 20% DLF, 4) diet with 30% DLF, 5) 10% higher protein level of diet with 10% DLF, 6) 20% higher protein level of diet with 20% DLF and 7) 30% higher protein level of diet with 30% DLF. Average daily feed intake (ADFI) tended to be improved with DLF feeding. ADFI of group fed diets with 20% was significantly higher than that of control (p<0.05). Feed conversions of DLFfed groups were higher than that of control. Egg production tended to be higher in groups fed diets with 10% DLF than control diet without significant differences (p>0.05). However, those of groups fed diets containing 20 and 30% DLF were lower than that of control. Supplementing protein source to DLF-containing diets improved egg production (p<0.05). Increasing level of DLF in the diet for layer decreased egg weight and egg mass compared to control without significant differences (p>0.05). Protein supplementation to DLF-containing diets increased egg mass without significant difference (p>0.05). The range of egg cholesterol concentration of DLF-fed groups was 11.94-14.10 mg/g while that of control group was 12.31 mg/g although there was no significant difference among treatments (p>0.05).
The objective of this experiment was to study the effect of dextrin on vacuum frying dried carrots. The concentrations of dextrin solution were 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and the criteria for quality evaluation were sorption characteristics, rehydration power, color and crispness differences. The sorption characteristics were evaluated by Peleg's equation. Rehydration, color and crispness were determined by rehydration percentage, colorimetry and sensory evaluation, respectively. The dextrin pretreatment of carrot resulted in the reduction of adsorption rate and the equilibrium moisture content of dried carrot at various range of relative humidities, and the adsorption rate of samples pretreated with aqueous dextrin solution at different temperatures($4^{\circ}C,\;20^{\circ}C,\;30^{\circ}C$) were in the following decreasing order : control>10% dextrin>20% dextrin>30% dextrin. As the concentration of dextrin solution and ambient temperature increased, BET monomolecular layer moisture content decreased significantly. In addition, as the concentration of dextrin solution increased, the crispness intensity increased and the color of sample treated with 20% dextrin solution was similar to that of raw carrot.

In this study, the effect of osmotic drying conditions of mangoes on hot air drying was investigated. Four different osmotic agents of 60 Brix, such as S60, SM10, HF80, and SG25, were prepared. Mango slabs were osmotically dried with the agents at a ratio of 1:4 (w/w) for up to 8 hours. SG25 showed the lowest weight reduction and moisture loss during the process. As a result of hot-air drying, all samples showed a high correlation with the Page model (0.9761~0.9997), and the required drying time of all samples that were osmotically dried was reduced compared to the non-osmotically dried group. After hot-air drying, the pH value increased according to the drying temperature. The L, a, and b values and the total polyphenol content also decreased. Through this study, the possibility of osmotic drying was confirmed to increase the efficiency of hot air drying of mangoes, which is expected to contribute to the industrial use of domestic mangoes.
As a series of studies on the preservation methods for boiled-dried anchovies, determination of sorption properties and shelf-life prediction were made for the samples. Dried anchovies, which were gamma-irradiated at pre-established dose (5 kGy) after packaging in both a polyethylene film (PE, 0.1 mm) and a laminated film $(nylon\;15\;{\mu}m/polyethylene\;100\;{\mu}m,\;NY/PE)$, were subjected to a quality evaluation during 4 months at different storage conditions, such as $15^{\circ}C/68%\;RH,\;25{\circ}C/75%\;RH,\;and\;35^{\circ}C/84%$ RH. The sample showed 5.47% of BET monomolecular layer moisture content and the corresponding water activity, 0.15. The velocity constants of browning reaction and organoleptic changes in the sample were in proportion to storage temperature, and $Q_{10}$, values were ranged from 2.17 to 2.40 in a given packaging and irradiation conditions. In the shelf-life prediction of the stored sample at $25^{\circ}C$, non-irradiated groups packaged in PE and NY/PE were 84 days and 125 days. While 5 kGy-irradiated groups in the same packaging were 126 days and 138 days, respectively. This finding proved the efficacy of laminated-film packaging and irradiation treatment in preserving the quality of dried anchovies.

Waterproofing is a very important process in terms of durability of buildings. The materials used for waterproofing work to protect the concrete structure from external deterioration factors. In particular, the waterproofing materials applied to the exterior of the concrete structure have various problems due to changes in the external environment and variables in the construction process. The waterproof layer is repeatedly dried and shrunk according to changes in the external moisture environment, and the surface may be deteriorated due to exposure to long-term sunlight. In the case of the roof waterproofing in the structure, the waterproof layer which does not have a sufficient curing period shows much swelling and floating phenomenon. These defects, such as swelling and lifting, account for most of the defects that occur in the waterproof layer of the concrete slabs. Generally, it is difficult to expect the same level of performance as the initial state even if the waterproofing work is repaired when a defect occurs. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the defects of the waterproof layer such as swelling and lifting by forming a waterproof layer which can be integrated with the concrete surface by using a polyurethane type waterproofing material having a relatively low defective ratio compared to other waterproofing materials. So in this study, the basic properties of polyurethane waterproof sheet reinforced with non-woven fabric are investigated in order to understand field applicability.

Despite recent efforts for fabricating flexible transparent conducting films (TCFs) with low resistance and high transmittance, several obstacles to meet the requirement of flexible displays still remain. Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films, which have been traditionally used as the TCFs, have a serious obstacle in TCFs applications. SWNTs are the most appropriate materials for conductive films for displays due to their excellent high mechanical strength and electrical conductivity. Recently, it has been demonstrated that acid treatment is an efficient method for surfactant removal. However, the treatment has been reported to destroy most SWNT. In this work, the fabrication by the spraying process of transparent SWNT films and reduction of its sheet resistance by Au-ionic doping treatment on PET substrates is researched. Arc-discharge SWNTs were dispersed in deionized water by adding sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as surfactant and sonicated, followed by the centrifugation. The dispersed SWNT was spray-coated on PET substrate and dried on a hotplate. When the spray process was terminated, the TCF was immersed into deionized water to remove the surfactant and then it was dried on hotplate. The TCF film was then was doped with Au-ionic doping treatment, rinsed with deionized water and dried. The surface morphology of TCF was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy. The sheet resistance and optical transmission properties of the TCF were measured with a four-point probe method and a UV-visible spectrometry, respectively. This was confirmed and discussed on the XPS and UPS studies. We show that 87 ${\Omega}/{\Box}$ sheet resistances with 81% transmittance at the wavelength of 550 nm. The changes in electrical and optical conductivity of SWNT film before and after Au-ionic doping treatments were discussed. The effects of hole transport interface layer using Au-ionic doping SWNT on the performance of organic solar cells were investigated.
In this study, buckwheat four was classified by the order of extraction from the inmost layer to the outmost layer, and was designated as $B_1,\;B_2,\;B_3,$ and the mixed flour of $B_1,\;B_2,\;B_3$ (1:1:1) was named $B_0$. To improve the dried noodle-making properties, various levels of strong wheat flour and additives such as sodium alginate (SA) and xanthan gum(XG) were added to buckwheat. 1) The buckwheat $B_2$ and $B_3$ flours contained much higher amounts of crude ash, protein and fat than the $B_1$ flour. 2) Buckwheat $B_3$ flour demonstrated lower maxium viscosity value by amylograph than the $B_1$ flour, but it demonstrated 2 times higher maximum viscosity value than wheat flour. Buckwheat $B_1$ flour demonstrated 4-5 times higher maximum viscosity value than wheat flour. Addition of SA and XG increased the viscosity of the flour mixtures. 3) It was possible to make dried noodles from the composite flour of (buckwheat 40 %+wheat 60 %). The lesser the quantity of buckwheat flour was, the better the kneading property of mixed flour was. 4) SA and XG, which were added at the level of 1.0-1.5%, significantly improved dough making properties and the cooking quality of the noodles.

Objective: An experiment was conducted to investigate the response of laying hens fed corn distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS) that are naturally contaminated with deoxynivalenol (DON). Methods: One hundred and sixty 52-week-old Lohmann Brown Lite hens were randomly allotted to five dietary treatments with 8 replicates per treatment. The dietary treatments were formulated to provide a range of corn DDGS contaminated with DON from 0% to 20% (i.e., 5% scale of increment). All laying hens were subjected to the same management practices in a controlled environment. Body weight, feed intake and egg production were measured biweekly for the entire 8-week experiment. The egg quality was measured biweekly for 8 weeks. On weeks 4 and 8, visceral organ weights, blood metabolites, intestinal morphology, and blood cytokine concentrations were measured. Results: The inclusion of corn DDGS contaminated with DON in the diet did not alter (p>0.05) the body weight, feed intake, hen-day egg production, egg mass and feed efficiency of the laying hens. No difference was found (p>0.05) in the egg quality of hens that were fed the dietary treatments. Furthermore, hens that were fed a diet containing corn DDGS contaminated with DON showed no change (p>0.05) in the visceral organ weights, the blood metabolites, and the cytokine concentrations. The crypt depth increased (p<0.05) as the amount of corn DDGS contaminated with DON increased. Proportionately, the villus height to crypt depth ratio of the laying hens decreased (p<0.05) with the increasing level of corn DDGS contaminated with DON in the diet. Conclusion: The inclusion of corn DDGS contaminated with DON up to 20% in layer diets did not cause changes in egg production performance and egg quality, which indicates that DON is less toxic at the concentration of 1.00 mg DON/kg.
In this study, adaptation of compomer to saliva contaminated dentin was evaluated with scanning electron microscope(SEM) and confocal laser scanning microscope(CLSM). For the SEM study, the occulusal surfaces of thirty two molar teeth were grounded to exposure dentin surfaces. The specimen were randomly assigned to control and three experimental groups with four samples in each group. In control group, Dyract and F-2000 compomer were bonded on the specimens according to the manufactures direction. Experimental groups were subdivided into three groups. They were contaminated with saliva on dentin surfaces ; Experimental group 1 : Saliva was dried with compressed air. Experimental group 2 : Saliva was rinsed with air-water spray and dried. Experimental group 3 : After polymerization of an adhesive, they were contaminated with saliva, and then saliva was rinsed with air-water spray and dried. Dyract and F-2000 compomer were bonded on saliva-treated dentin surfaces. The interfaces between dentin and compomer were observed with SEM. For the CLSM study, Class V cavities were prepared in buccal and ligual surfacess of thirty two molars. The specimens were divided into control and experimental groups. Class V cavities in experimental group were contaminated with saliva and those surfaces in each experimental groups received the same treatments as for the SEM study. Cavities were applied Prime & Bond 2.1 and F-2000 compomer primer/adhesive that were mixed with fluorescein, and then were filled with Dyract and F-2000 compomer. Specimens were embedded in transparent acrylic resin and sectioned buccolingual1y with diamond wheel saw, and then mounted on cover slide for CLSM study. The interface between cavity and compomer was observed by fluoresence imaging with a CLSM. The results were as follows : 1. In SEM exammination of Dyract group, control group, experimental group 2, 3 showed close adaptation to dentin and hybrid layer of $3{\sim}4{\mu}m$ diameter. Interfacial gap between compomer and dentin in experimental group 1 was wider than in control group. 2. In SEM examination of F-2000 group, adaptation to dentin of control group was closer than Dytact control group, but hybrid-like layer was not observed. Interfacial gap between compomer and dentin in experimental group 1 was wider than in Dyract experimental group 1. 3. In dissolution specimens of Dyract and F-2000 group, resin tags penetrated through dentinal tubules in control group and experimental group 1 and 3, but the penetration of resin tag was irregular and partial in experimental group 1. 4. In CLSM exammination of Dyract and F-2000 group, adhesive patterns of control and experimental groups showed same as in SEM. This result suggests the treatment methods, rinsing & drying, repeating all adhesive procedures, will produce good effect on adaptation of compomer to dentin if the dentin surface or polymerized adhesive is contaminated by saliva.
