극의 공연은 희곡 텍스트를 무대라는 시각적 이미지로 바꾸어 표현하고 전달하는 것이 본질이다. 시각적 이미지는 두대라는 골간을 통해 형성된다. 무대는 시각적 이미지의 모태이다. 다시 말해서 극의 시각적 이미지는 결국 총체적인 공간이미지가 되는 것이다. 본 연구는 극텍스트의 공간이미지를 기호학적 관점에서 해석해 보고, 그것을 통하여 구현되는 공간의 구조와 체계를 파악해 보고자 하는 시도이다. 특히 본고에서 관심을 갖는 것은 이미지 속에 도입된 문자의 기호학이 아니라 텍스트의 언술내용 자체를 도입하는 공간의 이미지텍스트, 극공간의 구조와 의미작용을 파악하는 과정과 내용이며, 결국 이를 통하여 텍스트 그리고 실제 기념적·상징적 공간의 해석방법론으로서 기호학적 측면에서의 '공간 구현의 체계'를 제시하였다.

A number of recent Victorian studies have participated in a renewed focus on form. E. Warwick Slinn and Monique R. Morgan, for instance, have contributed to enhancing our understanding of the Victorian dramatic monologue. This paper aims to expand what they have addressed by revisiting the mechanics of the dramatic form as a form, in particular addressing two types of dramatic monologue represented with supreme adroitness by Robert Browning and Alfred, Lord Tennyson, both of whom successfully attempted to widen our epistemology through a large act of the poetic imagination and great intellectual power. To this end, this paper lays particular attention to the role of the reader who is regarded as a key element of the dramatic aspect of the genre. In the dramatic monologue proper, real readers are actively brought into dialogic relation with the speaker or the poet, or both, whereby it seeks to represent an act of play among the poet, the speaker, and the reader. What the genre achieves in this fashion is twofold. For one thing, it pushes itself sufficiently to the very centre of the complex of apparently various narrative motives that animate the genre; for another, it honours the world of multiple viewpoints more than any other previous form of literature, all the more so as readers' views vary across their own time, space, and socio-cultural contexts. Incidentally, in one way and another, the dramatic monologue is of kinship with a Jamesian type of fiction, which is noted for its exterior impersonality. So this paper concludes by suggesting some theoretical implications that the dramatic genre assumes for, not only the naturalist novel, but also the (post-)modernist one.

영화 공간은 영화의 내적, 외적 의미들을 모두 의도할 수 있는 핵심적인 표현요소일 뿐 아니라 내러티브적인 측면에서도 극적 맥락을 주도하는 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 영화 공간은 도발적 사건이 일어나고 캐릭터 행동을 유발하는 가시적 환경을 구축할 뿐 아니라 캐릭터 심리나 서사의 정서적 의미를 내포하고 있으며, 표면 배후의 상징적 의미 및 암시적 기능을 통해 긴장을 유발하기도 한다. 따라서 본고는 이러한 내러티브 공간의 극적 기능을 중심으로 영화<시카리오>를 분석한다. 이 영화는 멕시코 마약 카르텔을 소재로 범죄스릴러 장르의 외피를 두르고 있지만, 결코 장르 관습을 따르지 않으며 깊은 철학적 고뇌를 통해 사유를 제시하는 통찰을 보여준다. 이 영화의 내러티브 공간은 도발적 사건 이상으로 극적 긴장을 불러일으키는 감정적 기능을 담당하며, 정교하게 계획되고 통제된 미장센은 궁극의 서스펜스를 구성하여 관객을 흡인한다. 결국 이 영화의 몰입감과 극적 여운은 플롯차원보다는 장면의 힘으로 이루어진 성취라 할 수 있다. 이처럼 본 연구는 <시카리오>의 공간과 시각화 구성을 분석하여 내러티브 공간과 극적 몰입의 상관관계를 설명하였다. 이를 통해 연구의 범위가 한정적이었던 극적몰입의 연구 패턴을 보다 확장시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

IT(정보기술)의 비약적인 발전은 사회전반의 시스템이 IT 인프라에 의존하게 만들었고, 21세기 큰 변화의 핵심 키워드중의 하나로 자리잡게 하였다. 정보기술은 비즈니스와 경제등 모든 영역 부분에서 그 역할의 범위를 넓혀가며 사이버공간 안에서 또 다른 가상의 세계가 만들어지고 있는 것이다. 빠르게 변화하고 있는 이러한 흐름에 과연 우리는 외부의 위협으로부터 어떻게 대처하고 있으며, 정보기술의 발전이 가져다 준 다양한 편익 앞에 사이버 위협의 또 다른 이면을 살펴보고 디지털의 변화와 위협을 재 정립해 보고자 한다.

We report on the timing properties of the 'Crab twin' pulsar PSR B0540-69 measured with X-ray data taken with the Swift telescope over a period of 1100 days. The braking index of the pulsar was estimated to be $n=0.03{\pm}0.013$ in a previous study performed in 2015 with 500-day Swift data. This small value of n is unusual for pulsars, and a comparison with an old estimate of $n{\approx}2.1$ for the same target determined ~10 years earlier suggests a dramatic change in the braking index. To confirm the small value and therefore the large change of n, we used 1100-day Swift observations including the data used in the earlier determination of n = 0.03. In this study we find that the braking index of PSR B0540-69 is $n=0.163{\pm}0.001$, somewhat larger than 0.03. Since the measured value of n is still much smaller than 2.1, we can confirm the dramatic change in the braking index for this pulsar.

The purpose of this study is to find out the meanings of water and water spaces in the Western architecture. The meaning of water is investigated by means of mythology and literature studies. It is found that water has ambivalent meanings, i.e. life and death, creation and destruction, chastity and sensuality. The meanings of water spaces in the Western architecture are dramatic, secret and dynamic, and represent publicity, verticality, formality in addition to desire for authority and realization(embodiment) of paradise. Water space is an essential component of beautiful and dynamic spaces and is used to revitalize dreary spaces.

These kinds of space experiences are experienced mentally and perceptively through the physical elements of inner and outer space of the architectural buildings, and this space imagery is created here by all the space composing elemensts of the building. These space experiences are caused by the changing processes of the space characteristics, and the observers perceive the changes in space characteristics. These changing processes of inner and outer space, space versus space, and unit space, which are perceived by the observer, could be called as 'the transition' and thd changes of the space characteristics as 'the transition characteristics'.
