In this study, I analyzed the effects on stabilizing the draft system, boiler efficiency when changing excess air ratio under 870 MW load limit operation condition in a large capacity coal fired power plant and decided optimum excess air ratio. It is positively necessary to choose adequate excess air ratio for stabilizing draft system because air pre-heater pressure drop and induced draft fan first stall margin are changing when adjusting excess air ratio. This study therefore, measured air pre-heater pressure drop, induced draft fan first stall margin, boiler efficiency, loss and has chosen adequate excess air ratio adjusting excess air ratio from 1.153 to 1.127. So it is recommended that the operation point needs to be changed to 1.127 that is not only to decrease air pre-heater pressure drop and to stabilize draft system and to secure stall margin but also to maintain boiler efficiency to equivalent level.

Field experiments were conducted to determine the optimum combination of performance parameters of a single-shank, tractor-mounted oscillating subsoiler. Tests were conducted at frequencies of oscillation of 3.7 , 5.67, 7.58, 9.48 and 11.456Hz ; amplitudes of 18, 21, 23.5, 34 and 36.5 mm ; and forward speeds of 1.84, 2.19 and 3.42 kmph at moisture content close to the plastic limit of the soil. It was observed that there was a reduction in average draft but an a increase in average total power requirement for oscillating than non-oscillating subsoiling. The draft and power ratios were significantly affected by the forward speed, frequency and amplitude. Their combined interaction expressed in terms of the velocity ratio parameter( the ratio of peak tool velocity and forward speed) however has the strongest influence. At the same velocity ratio, the draft reduction and power increase were less at higher amplitude of oscillation . As the oscillating frequency is increased toward the soil resonance the draft requirement becomes less. For the field conditions tested. the optimum operation was obtained at an amplitude of 36.5mm, frequency of 9.48Hz and speed of 2.19 kmph with a draft ratio of 0.33 and a power ratio of only 1.24.

In the present study, we investigated planing forces of supercavitated bodies by using the supercavitation shape produced by the disk type cavitator. The cavity shapes are observed to find the immersion draft and planing angle when the stern of the supercavitated body is partially immersed in the water. To make the planing the angle-of-attack (AOA) of the supercavitated body is varied statically against the main flow and the planing tests are carried out for different body shapes that are changed systematically. The drag, lift and pitch moment acting on the body are measured to understand the relation between the planing force and the immersion draft of the supercavitated body. It is found that the planing force increased in general linearly with the immersion draft ratio and the planing angle is certainly not proportional to the immersion draft ratio.
The gasification of biomass, sawdust, was carried out in order to investigate gasification characteristics. The experiment was performed using a down-draft fixed bed gasifier to surpass tar components generation in the gasification process. In the experiments, we investigated synthetic gas composition by varying reaction temperature, steam/carbon ratio, and excess ratio (ER), respectively. Higher reaction temperature, $700^{\circ}C$ to $900^{\circ}C$, could obtain higher $H_2$ yield. However, we could not obtain any meaning data by varying S/C ratio. Using $O_2$-LNG burner in the top of the gasifier may surpass water-gas shift reaction by increasing $CO_2$ concentration from the LNG-$O_2$ combustion reaction.
An oscillating digger mechanism was designed, constructed. and tested. The mechanism is consisted of a six-bar linkage, one four-bar linkage was fer the digger blade and the other one fur variable soil-crop separation. Experimental variables were amplitude(3, 6, 9 mm). frequency(11.2, 14.9. 17.0 Hz), and forward speed of tractor(0.91, 1.13, 1.56 km/h). Each combination of these variables was replicated three times to measure the draft and torque for power requirement evaluation. and the broken-up soil height on the soil separation sieve mechanism. Four parameters λ(the ratio of vibration speed to forward velocity), p(the ratio of vibration acceleration to forward velocity), K(the ratio of vibration acceleration to gravitational acceleration), and T(the product of λ and K) were induced from three experimental variables: amplitude, frequency, and tractor speed. And the power requirement and soil separation ability were analyzed by regression. Though λ and K were known to be the representative parameters. T was the most moderate one to explain draft. torque. and soil separation in this study. It was estimated that the T equal to or greater than 2.4 was the minimum recommended value. Figure 18 would be useful fir the selection of amplitude. frequency, or operating tractor speed once any two variables are known.

This study presents the tests of an Immersed Membrane BioReactor (IMBR) equipped with a draft tube and focuses on the influence of hydrodynamic conditions on membrane fouling in a pilot-scale using a hollow fiber membrane module of ZW-10 under ambient conditions. In this system, the cross-flow velocities across the membrane surface were induced by a cylindrical draft-tube. The relationship between cross-flow velocity and aeration strength and the influence of the cross-flow on fouling rate (under various hydrodynamic conditions) were investigated using Multi-Dimension Scaling (MDS) analysis. MDS technique is especially suitable for samples with many variables and has relatively few observations, as the data about Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) often is. Observations and variables are analyzed simultaneously. According to the results, a specialized form of MDS, CoPlot enables presentation of the results in a two dimensional space and when plotting variables ratio (output/input) rather than original data the efficient units can be visualized clearly. The results indicate that: (i) aeration plays an important role in IMBR performance; (ii) implementing the MDS approach with reference to the variables ratio is consequently useful to characterize performance changes for data classification.
In this study, efforts were made to enhance the mechanical properties of the poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) fibers of medium molecular weight(number-average degree of polymerization=1735) varying the ratio in $DMSO/H_2O$ mixed solvent and spinning/drawing conditions. The gel fibers prepared from pure DMSO were opaquely frozen in the coagulating bath of $-20^{\circ}C$. However, transparent gel fibers were formed without freezing for the mixture to contain water less than 80wt%. As the amount of water in the mixture increased the residual solvent in the coagulated gel fibers decreased ranging from 85 to 42wt%. The complex viscosity increased with increasing PVA concentration in 80/20 $DMSO/H_2O$ exhibiting remarkable shear thinning at 18wt%. In the Cole-Cole plot, the 18wt% PVA solutions gave a deviated curve from 12 and 15wt% ones. Thus the optimum PVA concentration for the spinning processing of medium MW PVA solutions in 80/20 $DMSO/H_2O$ was determined to 18wt% with rheological concept. Low degree of drawing during hot drawing process in the dry state was available for high bath draft in the coagulation bath. The most improved mechanical properties were observed by applying the highest possible draw ratio attained by reducing bath draft over multi-step drawing process. In the given bath draft, linear relationship was observed between both tensile strength and modulus and draw ratio showing the inflection points at the draw ratio of 19.5 and 18.0 for tensile strength and modulus, respectively.
This experiment was conducted in order to find out the drawing performance of a two-wheel tractor under different levels of the soil moisture and hardness, so as to obtain some basic data for improving their drawing performance. With fairly homogeneous soil, 5 levels of soil moisture contents (8, 13, 17, 20 and 23%) and 3 levels of soil hardness (0 , 2 and 4kg/$cm^2$) were selected for this experiment. The summerized results are as follows ;1. The draft force, on the hard soil (hardness ; 4kg/$cm^2$), had a distinct tendency to decrease with the increasing soil moisture. On the medium soil (hardness ; 2 kg/$cm^2$), and the soft soil (hardness ; 0kg$cm^2$), the draft force showed the highest when the moisture contents were within the range of 16-19%.But the maximum draft force, on the soft soil, was higher than that on the medium soil by 10 %. 2. The driving axle torque increased with increasing soil by 10 %. 3.The values of horizontal distance between the soil reaction point and axle shaft were within the range of 0~10cm , and it had the tendency to increase with the increasing soil moisture. Also, it s value was the largest on the hard soil and the smallest on the soft soil. 4.The tractive efficiency decreased with the increasing soil moisture. On the hard soil, the average value of tractive efficiency was higher than that on the medium soil by 19.0% and that on the soft soil was lower than that on the medium soil. 5.The traction ratio were within the range of 30 ~45%, and their changing tendency with respect to the soil moisture was similar to that in the case of the draft force. 6. The travel resistance ratio tended to increased with increasing soil moisture, and the highest value was found on the soft soil, and the lowest on the hard soil.
A laboratory model test was carried out with a newly designed model to figure out the vibration characteristics of the vibratory tillage tool according to the method of forced vibration, i.e., horizontally and vertically forced vibrations. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The reduction ratios of the draft force of the vibratory blade were 14.2-42.6% for the case where the vibration was forced parallel to the travelling direction of the blade, and 15-54.5% for the vertically forced vibration. And it was thought that the method of vertically forced vibration was preferable to the reduction of the draft force. 2. The ratio of the draft force of a vibratory blade to that of a static one could be represented as a function of V/At. It was found to be possible to reduce the draft force by taking a lower value of (V/Af) and this meant that the effictiveness of tillage practice using the vibratory system would be limited. 3. The torque to the main rotating shaft to vibrate the model blade increased frequency and amplitude. This tendency varied according to the physical properties of tested soil. In case of horizontally forced vibration, the torque was 8~34% less than in case of vertically forced vibration. 4. With the increase of frequency, the total power requirement increased linearly, and also the portion of oscillating power requirement in the total power tended to increase. The magnitude of the total power requirement was 1.4-13 times greater than that of a static one for the case of horizontal vibration, and 1.5-15 times greater for the case of vertical vibration. It was thought that the horizontal vibration of the blade was preferable to the vertical vibration in view of the power requirement. 5. A linearity was found between the amplitude of moment oscillogram and magnitude of oscillating acceleration. Only positive values of moment occurred when the blade was forced to vibrate vertically, but negative values occurred in rarity in the case of amplitude A3 when the blade was forced to vibrate horizontally.

An experimental and numerical investigation was made to examine the characteristics of pontoon type floating breakwaters(FBW) in regular waves. Motion responses of FBW and wave transmission coefficients are observed and compared with the results based on the linear potential theory. The linear potential theory is found to be a successful tool to investigate the characteristics of the floating breakwaters. We confirm that there exists a minimum wave transmission coefficient which is a function of wave-length/beam and beam/draft ratio. As beam/draft ratio increases the value of wave-length/beam ratio where the minimum, wave transmission coefficient occurs increases. Excessive mooring stiffness can deteriorate the performance of the floating breakwaters.
