Monte Carlo Simulation Study: the effects of double-patterning versus single-patterning on the line-edge-roughness (LER) in FDSOI Tri-gate MOSFETs

  • A Monte Carlo (MC) simulation study has been done in order to investigate the effects of line-edge-roughness (LER) induced by either 1P1E (single-patterning and single-etching) or 2P2E (double-patterning and double-etching) on fully-depleted silicon-on-insulator (FDSOI) tri-gate metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs). Three parameters for characterizing the LER profile [i.e., root-mean square deviation (${\sigma}$), correlation length (${\zeta}$), and fractal dimension (D)] are extracted from the image-processed scanning electron microscopy (SEM) image for each photolithography method. It is experimentally verified that two parameters (i.e., ${\sigma}$ and D) are almost the same in each case, but the correlation length in the 2P2E case is longer than that in the 1P1E case. The 2P2E-LER-induced $V_TH$ variation in FDSOI tri-gate MOSFETs is smaller than the 1P1E-LER-induced $V_TH$ variation. The total random variation in $V_TH$, however, is very dependent on the other major random variation sources, such as random dopant fluctuation (RDF) and work-function variation (WFV).

  • This paper endeavors to examine the most suitable formal dress design for mid-aged men who lives in Kwangju, the Republic of Korea. Visual effect in associate design is considered with adjustment, figured and the body type. There are partly similarity differences in associate design visual effect by one's shape and clothes design. Firstly, in thin type, striped figured suit is the most attractive. Single adjustment suit with striped figured tend to be attractive, young and modernistic. Single adjustment without figured is felt the mellowest. Secondly, in standard type, the suit without figured is perceived the most attractive and masculine. The suit with striped figured is looked more young. Single adjustment suit without figured is the most attractive and mellow also single adjustment with figured is felt the youngest. Double adjustment without figured is felt mellow and with striped figured is felt the most modernistic and familiar. Also double adjustment suit with check figured is felt more modernistic. Thirdly, in pyknic type, the solid figured and striped figured of the suits are felt more masculine and single without figured is thought attractive. Single adjustment with check figured is common image. Also, double adjustment with stripe figured is perceived attractive. In conclusion, the adjustment, number of button and figure are very important facts for the clothes for giving whole visual effect of men's suit.

  • The objective of this study is to characterize design parameters of rocket igniters for composite, double base and nitramine propellant. Arc image furnace and fiber optics surface reflectometer were used to measure ignition delay time and reflected optical energy of several compositions of composite, double base and nitramine base rocket propellant at different pressure levels each other. The order of ignitability was double base > composite > Nitramine propellants at initial pressure of over 75 psia. The highest ignition energy was needed to ignite nitramine propellant, however, as the pressure increased up to the range of $75{\sim}400$ psia as the ignition delay time decreased abruptly. The absorbtion of radiation energy could be increased by the addition of small amount of opacifiers as carbon black, ZrC, WC and burning catalyst.

  • We present a method to improve encryption level by use of a rotational term in the double random-phase-mask(RPM) encryption system. Encrypted optical images are recorded in a photorefractive LiNbO$_3$:Fe crystal and reconstructed by using a phase conjugated reading beam. The encryption level for the analog image is analyzed by use of visibility function.

  • Space leaping is one of accelerated image-order volume rendering. This method accelerates rendering speed by finding and leaping the empty space. Although its rendering speed is very fast, it takes long pre-processing time to make the data structure to leap the space. In this paper we propose the look-ahead sampling algorithm to double the leaping distance comparing with previous approaches. This algorithm reduces the preprocessing time to make the distance map without significant changes of rendering time. Also, it accelerates the rendering time.

On the claimed X-shaped structure in the Milky Way bulge

  • A number of recent studies have claimed that the double red clump observed in the Milky Way bulge is a consequence of an X-shaped structure. In particular, Ness & Lang (2016) report a direct detection of a faint X-shaped structure in the bulge from the residual map of the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) image. Here we show, however, that their result is seriously affected by a bulge model subtracted from the original image. When a boxy bulge model is subtracted, instead of a simple exponential bulge model as has been done by Ness & Lang, we find that most of the X-shaped structure in the residuals disappears. Furthermore, even if real, the stellar density in the claimed X-shaped structure appears to be too low to be observed as a strong double red clump at $l=0^{\circ}$

  • This paper describes the design, fabrication, and measurement of ROIC(ReadOut Integrated Circuit) for $320{\times}256$ IRFPA(InfraRed Focal Plane Array). A ROIC plays an important role that transfer photocurrent generated in a detector device to thermal image system. Recently, the high performance and low power ROIC adding various functions is being required. According to this requirement, the design of ROIC focuses on 7MHz or more pixel rate, low power dissipation, anti-blooming, multi-channel output mode, image reversal, various windowing, and frame CDS(Correlated Double Sampling). The designed ROIC was fabricated using $0.6{\mu}m$ double-poly triple-metal Si CMOS process. ROIC function factors work normally, and the power dissipation of ROIC is 33mW and 90.5mW at 7.5MHz pixel rate in the 1-channel and 4-channel operation, respectively.

  • Palmprint has become a popular biometric modality; however, palmprint recognition has not been conducted in video media. Video palmprint recognition (VPR) has some advantages that are absent in image palmprint recognition. In VPR, the registration and recognition can be automatically implemented without users' manual manipulation. A good-quality image can be selected from the video frames or generated from the fusion of multiple video frames. VPR in contactless mode overcomes several problems caused by contact mode; however, contactless mode, especially mobile mode, encounters with several revere challenges. Double-line-single-point (DLSP) assisted placement technique can overcome the challenges as well as effectively reduce the localization error and computation complexity. This paper modifies DLSP technique to reduce the invalid area in the frames. In addition, the valid frames, in which users place their hands correctly, are selected according to finger gap judgement, and then some key frames, which have good quality, are selected from the valid frames as the gallery samples that are matched with the query samples for authentication decision. The VPR algorithm is conducted on the system designed and developed on mobile device.

  • Polymer base organic PN junction with various ion types was studied. Low-energy ion implantation technique(~keV) is very useful in physical doping on PPP(Polyparaphenylene) polymer. By double implantation, effective organic PN junction was achieved. The best obtained electrical I-V property was rectification ratio which was about 10000. However, still have problems in low junction current density.

Novel Frame Interpolation Method for High Image Quality LCDs

  • We developed a novel Fame interpolation method to interpolate a frame between two successive original frames. Using this method, we are able to apply a double-rate driving method instead of an impulse driving method where a black Fame is inserted between two successive original Fames. The double-rate driving method enables improvement to the motion blur of LCDs caused by the characteristics of human vision without reducing the luminosity of the whole screen. Here, we report on the initial model of our frame interpolation method.
