SAR image 복구를 위한 Window 적용 효과 연구 (Analysis of Various Window Effect for SAR image Recovery)

  • SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar)는 radio wave를 이용하여 영상 정보를 얻는 Radar이다. Platform이 radio wave를 방사하여, 대상 물체에서 되돌아오는 후방 산란파 (Back-scattering) 신호를 거리에 따라 2차원 영상(SAR image)으로 기록하여 지형도를 작성한다. 본 논문에서는 SAR image 복구를 위해 SAR image processing에서 다양한 window를 적용하는 시뮬레이션을 통하여 window의 적용 효과를 연구하였으며, 그 결과 신호의 SNR 측면에서는 Flattop window가 가장 좋은 성능 향상을 보여 주는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 현대전에서는 각종 추적 레이다를 이용하여 표적의 위치 추적이 이루어진다. 따라서 적군 레이다를 교란하여 아군위치 정보 추적을 무력화하는 전자공격인 레이다 재밍 기술의 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 레이다 재밍 기법 중 VGPO/I는 전자전 레이다 재밍 기법의 기본이 되는 기법 중 하나이며, 주로 신호의 펄스 도플러 효과를 이용하여 위치를 추적하는 레이다 대상 재밍 기법 운용이 가능하다. 본 논문은 위상 샘플방식으로 운용되는 DRFM에 적용할 수 있는 위상정보를 이용한 VGPO/I 재밍 기법 기술구현방식을 제안하고, 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증하였다.

Radar-based Security System: Implementation for Cluttered Environment

  • We present an experimental implementation of the inexpensive microwave security sensor that can detect both static and slowly moving objects in cluttered environment. The prototype consists of a frequency-modulated continuous wave radar sensor, control board or computer and software. The prototype was tested in a cluttered indoor environment. In case of intrusion or change of environment the sensor will give an alarm, determine the location of new object, change in its location and can detect a slowly moving target. To make a low-cost unit we use commercially available automotive radar and own signal processing techniques for object detection and tracking. The intruder detection is based on a comparison between current 'image' in memory and 'no-intrusion' reference image. The main challenge is to develop a reliable technique for detection of a relatively low-magnitude object signals hidden in multipath clutter echo signals. Various experimental measurements and computations have shown the feasibility and performance of the system.

  • 항공기 레이더는 하방 또는 사방의 공대공 표적을 탐지/추적하기 위하여 보통 MPRF 파형을 사용한다. 항공기용 레이더가 MPRF 파형을 운용하기 위하여, 거리/속도에서 존재하는 모호성을 해결하면서 클러터를 회피하여 하방 공대공 표적을 탐지할 수 있는 최적의 PRF들을 선택하여 운용할 수 있어야 한다. 이 논문은 실시간 환경변화 상황에서 표적을 탐지/추적하기 위한 최적의 PRF들을 실시간으로 찾는 방법을 제시한다.

Deriving vertical velocity in tornadic wind field from radar-measured data and improving tornado simulation by including vertical velocity at velocity inlet

  • In a tornadic wind field, the vertical velocity component in certain regions of tornadoes can be significant, forming one of the major differences between tornadic wind fields and synoptic straight-line wind fields. To better understand the wind characteristics of tornadoes and properly estimate the action of tornadoes on civil structures, it is important to ensure that all the attributes of tornadoes are captured. Although Doppler radars have been used to measure tornadic wind fields, they can only directly provide information on quasi-horizontal velocity. Therefore, lots of numerical simulations and experimental tests in previous research ignored the vertical velocity at the boundary. However, the influence of vertical velocity in tornadic wind fields is not evaluated. To address this research gap, this study is to use an approach to derive the vertical velocity component based on the horizontal velocities extracted from the radar-measured data by mass continuity. This approach will be illustrated by using the radar-measured data of Spencer Tornado as an example. The vertical velocity component is included in the initial inflow condition in the CFD simulation to assess the influence of including vertical velocity in the initial inflow condition on the entire tornadic wind field.

호흡 및 심박수 측정을 위한 비 접촉 방식의 2.4 GHz 바이오 레이더 시스템 (An 2.4 GHz Bio-Radar System for Non-Contact Measurement of Heart and Respiration)

  • 본 논문에서는 호흡 및 심박수 측정을 위한 2.4 GHz 바이오 레이더 시스템의 성능을 분석하고 이를 통한 설계 및 구현 과정을 제시하였다. 먼저 2.4 GHz 시스템의 성능을 정량적으로 분석하기 위해, 인체 조직의 전자기적 성질을 이용하여 사람 몸에 의한 손실을 구하였고, 거리에 따른 복조기 출력에서의 SNR을 분석하였다. 5 Hz 대역폭일 때, 50 cm에서 90 % 이상의 success ratio를 성능지표로 삼아 바이오 레이더 성능을 MATLAB을 이용하여 시뮬레이션 하였고, 전체 시스템의 링크 버젯을 완성하였다. 분석 결과를 활용하여 4층 PCB 기판 위에 계산된 링크 버젯을 만족하는 직접 변환 방식의 바이오 레이더 수신기를 설계 및 제작하였다. 측정 결과, 0 dBm 출력에서 5 Hz 대역폭일 때, 50 cm의 거리에서 약 80 %의 success ratio가 측정되어 설계 과정을 검증하였다.

서남해 해상풍력실증단지에서 X-Band Radar로 관측한 유동 및 파랑 자료 검증 (Verification of current and wave data observed with X-band radar at an offshore wind substantiation farm in the Southwest Sea)

  • In order to respond to environmental changes and various events in the nearby sea area due to the operation of an offshore wind substantiation farm in the Southwest Sea, X-band radar has been installed and operated on a fixed platform since 2018. The X-band radar's monitoring system produces wave and current data through Rutter's Ocean WaveS wave and current (Sigma S6 WaMoS II). In this study, to verify the reliability of the produced data, the accuracy of current and wave data was evaluated by analyzing the correlation with the results obtained by an acoustic doppler current profiler (ADCP). The selected analysis period was a total of 30 days from November 29 to December 28, 2021, the period during which the ADCP survey was conducted. As a result of comparative verification, the current, wave height and peak wave period (Hs > 0.69 m) data observed from the X-band radar showed a high correlation with the results investigated from ADCP. In the future, current and wave data produced by X-band radar are expected to be used as basic data to analyze environmental changes in sea areas and provide information on various events.

Efficient Translational Motion Compensation for Micro-Doppler Extraction of Ballistic Missiles

  • When the micro-Doppler (MD) image of a ballistic missile is derived, the translational motion compensation (TMC) method is usually applied to the inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) image, but yields poor results because of the micro-motion of the ballistic missile. This paper proposes an efficient TMC method to obtain a focused MD image of a ballistic missile engaged in complicated micro-motion. During range alignment, range profiles (RPs) are coarsely aligned by using the 1D entropy cost function of RPs as a mark, then the coarsely-aligned RPs are fine-aligned by using the minimum 2D entropy of the MD image. During phase adjustment, the gradient of the phase error is appropriately weighted and added to the previous phase error to further fine-tune the aligned RPs. In simulations using the point scatterer model and the measured data from the real missile model, the proposed method provided better image focus than the existing method.

  • A triple 2-of-3 pulse repetition frequency (PRF) scheme is presented for medium PRF pulsed-Doppler airborne radars, and a real-time method is developed that searches for optimal or sub-optimal PRF sets according to momentary battle situations. The effectiveness of the real-time search method of PRF sets is demonstrated by the experimental results obtained using simulated data.

  • This paper concerns a method for micro-wave imaging. The image reconstruction of a perfect conducting cylinder by phase and amplitude measurement using the X-Band multifrequency is presented troll the simulated data. The high degree of range resolution is achieved using large signal band-width and cross-range resolution is obtained by doppler processing. The comparison of image reconstruction between range doppler processing and circular convolution algorithm is also shown.
