Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the dimensional errors between real tooth, 3D CT image and CARP model. Materials and Methods : Two maxilla and two mandible block bones with intact teeth were taken from two cadavers. Computed tomography was taken either in dry state and in wet state. After then, all teeth were extracted and the dimensions of the real teeth were measured using a digital caliper at mesio-distal and bucco-lingual width both in crown and cervical portion. 3D CT image was generated using the V-works $4.0^{TM}$ (Cybemed Inc., Seoul, Korea) software. Twelve teeth were randomly selected for CARP model fabrication. All the measurements of 3D Ct images and CARP models were made in the same manner of the real tooth group. Dimensional errors between real tooth, 3D CT image model and CARP model was calculated. Results : 1) Average of absolute error was 0.199 mm between real teeth and 3D CT image model, 0.169 mm between 3D CT image model and CARP model and 0.291 mm between real teeth and CARP model, respectively. 2) Average size of 3D CT image was smaller than real teeth by 0.149 mm and that of CARP model was smalier than 3D CT image model by 0.067mm. Conclusion : Within the scope of this study, CARP model with the 0.291 mm average of absolute eror can aid to enhance the success rate cf autogenous tooth transplantation due to the increased accuracy of recipient bone and donor tooth.
Purpose: To evaluate the results of anterolateral thigh perforator free flap for reconstruction of foot and ankle in old diabetic patients. Materials and Methods: Fifteen diabetic foot ulcer patients over the age of 55 were operated with anterolateral thigh perforator free flap. Hematological, hemodynamic, diabetic, bacteriologic and radiologic tests were checked with examination of blood vessel state in both the donor site and the recipient site. After surgery, serial check-up was performed at 6 week, 6 month, and 1 year postoperatively on the survival of transplantation tissue, condition of foot, and condition of walking. Results: There are one case of transplantation failure and four cases of partial tissue-necrosis. Delayed wound-healing was observed both recipient and donor tissue sites. At the final follow up, three cases of small ulcer were found at junction of flap and recipient tissue in plantar area. Fourteen out of fifteen patients could walk without any brace or walking aids. Conclusion: Reconstruction of foot and ankle region in old diabetic patients with the anterolateral thigh perforator free flap is a useful method which can prevent the amputation of foot and ankle.
The reconstruction of deep soft tissue defects of lower extremities combined with bone exposure has been difficult problems. When it is impossible to raise local skin flap, we have been usually used the gastrocnemius musculocutaneous flap, cross leg flap or free flaps. However, In musculocutaneous flap, aesthetical appearance of the calf is not appropriate because of too bulky flap. Although the success rate of the free flap has improved, still failure of flap occurs in cases of the chronic ischemic state. As the concepts of perforator flap has recently developed and widely used due to its thin flap thickness. Between January 2002 to December 2004, we treated 7 patients with soft tissue defect in leg with chronic ischemic limbs with perforator island flap. Preoperative angiography were done in all case and we used 2 medial sural perforator flaps, 1 anterior tibial artery perforator flap, 1 posterior tibial artery perforator flap, 3 anterolateral thigh perforator flap. Partial necrosis of flap was seen in one patient but no further surgical procedure was required for wound healed spontaneously. Perforator island flaps are thin, reduce donor site morbidity, conceal donor site with primary closure and it is useful for resurfacing soft tissue defect of lower extremities.
$\beta$ -Glucosidase-catalysed synthesis of glucosides with aromatic alcohols and monoterpene alcohols as accepters and cellobiose as a donor in the presence of various commercial $\beta$ -glucosidases were described. $\beta$ -Glucosidases from Aspergillus niger spp,. Trichoderma spp., Penicillium sup. and bitter almond have been shown to catalyze synthesis of $\beta$ -glucosides of benzyl alcohol, 2-hydroxybenzyl alcohol, 4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol, 2-phenylethyl alcohol, geraniol and citronellol in the presence of cellobiose as sugar donor. Among enzyme preparations tested, each $\beta$ -glucosides prepared from Aspergillus niger were isolated in the pure state by Diaion HP-20 and silica gel column chromatography. The products were identified as $\beta$ -glucosyl products of benzyl alcohol, 2-hydroxyhenzyl alcohol, 4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol, 2-phenyl ethyl alcohol, geraniol and citronellol by spectrometry (UV, IR, $^1$H-NMR, $^{13}$ C-NMR) and enzymatic hydrolysis with $\beta$ - glucosidase. Monoterpene alcohols with a sterically hindered hydroxyl group, such as linalool, $\ell$-menthol and $\alpha$-terpineol were not used as acceptors in transglycosylation reaction.

We prepared the new nonlinear optical chromophores that show fairly high microscopic nonlinearity through intramolecular charge transfer. Phenothiazine and carbazole units played an important role to contribute high electron donability and connect the resonance pathway via conjugative effect in the cyclized ring beside the aromatic ring. Theoretical calculation, electrochemical analysis, and absorption spectroscopic study gave us useful information about the energy states and microscopic nonlinearities of two serial chromophores. We compared the microscopic nonlinearities of four chromophores with the conjugation length and electron donability in the push-pull type NLO chromophores. The effect of gradient donability and lengthening the conjugation were investigated on the electronic state and microscopic nonlinearity.

ZnO has intensively attracted interest for the next generation of short wavelength LEDs and semiconductor lasers. However, for the development and application of the devices based on this material, the fabrication of p-type ZnO thin films is pivotal. Generally, the process of preparation of ZnO is unavoidably accompanied by the natural donor ions such as interstitial Zn ions and oxygen vacancy ions that show n-type electrical property and make fabrication of p-type ZnO to be a hard problem. On this study, to realize stable high-quality p-type ZnO thin films, the undoped ZnO thin films were diffused with P in vapor state. The ZnO:P thin films showed high-quality p-type properties electrically and optically.
The reactions of mercury(II) chloride with O3S2-donor macrocyclic ligands with (L1) and without (L2) dibenzosubunit afforded respective exo- (1) and endo-coordinated (2) complexes depending on the ring rigidity of the ligands. From the X-ray crystal structures and comparative NMR studies for the complexes 1 and 2, it is confirmed that the resulting species with different coordination modes exist not only in solid state but also in solution state.
Photoinduced electron transfer of C60 has been studied by the laser photolysis measuring the transient absorption bands in near-IR region. The electron transfer aromatic amines via the triplet state of C60 is confirmed by the decay of the transient absorption bands of the triplet state of C60 and the rise of the anion radical of C60 and the cation radicals of amines. The rate and efficiency of electron transfer are strongly affected by the donor ability of amines and polarity of solvents. Back electron-transfer kinetics is also strongly affected by the solvent polarity.
Three anthrylazacrown ethers in which the anthracene fluorophore π system is separated from the electron donor atoms by one methylene group were synthesized, and their photophysical study was accomplished. These fluorescent compounds showed a maximum fluorescence intensity at pH=5 in aqueous solutions and a decrease in fluorescence intensity upon binding of paramagnetic metal cations (Mn 2+ (d 5 ), Co 2+ (d 7 ), Cu 2+ (d 9 )). The decrease in fluorescence intensity may be attributed to the paramagnetic effect of metal cations to deactivate the excited state by the nonradiative quenching process. The benzylic nitrogen was found to play an important role in changing fluorescence intensity. From the observed linear Stern-Volmer plot and the fluorescence lifetime independence of the presence of metal ions, it was inferred that the chelation enhanced fluorescence quenching (CHEQ) mechanism in the system is a ground state static quenching process. Enhanced fluorescence was also observed when an excess Na + ion was added to the quenched aqueous solution, and it was attributed to cation displacement of a complexed fluorescence quencher.
The transfer of excitation energy from solvent to solute in polystyrene films doped with 2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazole (HBT) which undergoes intramolecular proton transfer in excited electronic state has been studied by employing steady state and time-resolved fluorescence measurements. The degree of Forster overlap between donor and acceptor molecule in this system is estimated to be moderate. Energy transfer efficiency increases with solute concentration at low concentration range and levels off at high concentration. It is observed that the excimer form of polystyrene is largely involved in energy transfer process. Photostability of HBT in polystyrene to UV light is also investigated to get insight into the long wavelength absorption band of HBT which was observed upon electron radiation.
