To decouple the secondary saliencies in sensorless permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) drives, a repetitive control (RC) in the angle domain is proposed. In this paper, the inductance model of a concentrated windings surface-mounted PMSM (cwSPMSM) with strong secondary saliencies is developed. Due to the secondary saliencies, the estimated position contains harmonic disturbances that are periodic relative to the angular position. Through a transformation from the time domain to the angle domain, these varying frequency disturbances can be treated as constant periodic disturbances. The proposed angle-domain RC is plugged into an existing phase-locked loop (PLL) and utilizes the error of the PLL to generate signals to suppress these periodic disturbances. A stability analysis and parameter design guidelines of the RC are addressed in detail. Finally, the proposed method is carried out on a cwSPMSM drive test-bench. The effectiveness and accuracy are verified by experimental results.
This paper presents a new recognition and classification method for power quality (PQ) disturbances on the basis of pattern linguistic values. This method solves the difficulty of recognizing disturbances rapidly and accurately by using fuzzy logic. This method uses classification disturbance patterns to define the linguistic values of fuzzy input variables and used the input variables of corresponding disturbance pattern to set membership functions. This method also sets the fuzzy rules by analyzing the distribution regularities of the input variable values. One characteristic of this method is that the linguistic values of fuzzy input variables and the setting of membership functions are not only related to the input variables but also to the character of classification disturbance and the classification results. Furthermore, the number of fuzzy rules is equal to the number of disturbance patterns. By using this method for disturbance classification, the membership function and design of fuzzy rules are directly related to the objective of classification, thus effectively reducing the complexity of the design process and yielding accurate classification results. The classification results of the simulation and measured data verify the feasibility and effectiveness of this method.

Disruptions in manufacturing systems caused by system changes and disturbances such as the tool wear, machine breakdown, malfunction of transporter, and so on, reduce the productivity and the increase of downtime and manufacturing cost. In order to cope with these challenges, a new method to build an intelligent manufacturing system with biological principles, namely an ant colony inspired manufacturing system, is presented. In the developed system, the manufacturing system is considered as a swarm of cognitive agents where work-pieces, machines and transporters are controlled by the corresponding cognitive agent. The system reacts to disturbances autonomously based on the algorithm of each autonomous entity or the cooperation with them. To develop the ant colony inspired manufacturing system, the disturbances happened in the machining shop of a transmission case were analyzed to classify them and to find out the corresponding management methods. The system architecture with the autonomous characteristics was generated with the cognitive agent and the ant colony technology. A test bed was implemented to prove the functionality of the developed system.

This paper presents an integrated roll-pitch-yaw autopilot using an equivalent based sliding mode control for skid-to-turn nonlinear time-varying missile system with lumped disturbances in its six-equations of motion. The considered missile model are developed to integrate the model uncertainties, external disturbances, and parameters perturbation as lumped disturbances. Moreover, it considers the coupling effect between channels, the variation of missile velocity and parameters, and the aerodynamics nonlinearity. The presented approach is employed to achieve a good tracking performance with robustness in all missile channels simultaneously during the entire flight envelope without demand of accurate modeling or output derivative to avoid the noise existence in the real missile system. The proposed autopilot consisting of a two-loop structure, controls pitch and yaw accelerations, and stabilizes the roll angle simultaneously. The Closed loop stability is studied. Numerical simulation is provided to evaluate performance of the suggested autopilot and to compare it with an existing autopilot in the literature concerning the robustness against the lumped disturbances, and the aforesaid considerations. Finally, the proposed autopilot is integrated in a six degree of freedom flight simulation model to evaluate it with several target scenarios, and the results are shown.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine fatigue, sleep disturbances, and quality of life (QOL) among patients with breast cancer receiving radiotherapy. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive design was used. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 201 breast cancer patients in a hospital. The data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. Results: The fatigue scores showed significant differences depending on exercise and duration since diagnosis. The sleep disturbance scores showed significant differences depending on duration since diagnosis. QOL scores showed significant differences depending on exercise, duration since diagnosis, and treatment site. Fatigue and sleep disturbances (r=.40, p<.001) showed statistically significant positive correlations, while fatigue and QOL (r=-.55, p<.001), and sleep disturbances and QOL (r=-.45, p<.001) showed statistically significant negative correlations. The multiple regression analysis, which was used to determine the variables influencing on QOL after radiotherapy, resulted in a significant regression model (F=23.88, p<.001), which accounted for approximately 45% of the explanatory power. Fatigue (${\beta}=-.39$, p<.001) and sleep disturbances (${\beta}=-.27$, p<.001) were revealed to adversely affect quality of life. Conclusion: The nursing intervention is necessary to reduce fatigue and sleep disturbance and to promote exercise in order to enhance QOL of patients with breast neoplasm while receiving radiotherapy.

This paper describes a camera-based position measurement system for automatic tracking control of a rubber Tired Gantry Crane (RTGC). An automatic tracking control of RTGC depends on the ability to measure its displacement and angle from a guide line that the RTGC has to follow. The measurement system proposed in this paper is composed of a camera and a PC that are mounted on the right upper between front and rear tires of the RTGC's side. The measurement accuracy of the system is affected by disturbances such as cracks and stains of the guide line, shadows, and halation from the light fluctuation. To overcome the disturbances, both side edges of the guide line are detected as two straight lines from an input image taken by the camera, and parameters of the straight lines are determined by using Hough transform. The displacement and angle of the RTGC from the guide line can be obtained from these parameters with the robustness against the disturbances. From the experiments with the disturbances, we found the accurate displacement and the angle from the guide line that have the standard deviations of 0.95 pixels and 0.22 degrees, respectively.

With the development of industry, more large-scale non-linear loads are added to existing power systems and they cause the serious power quality (PQ) problems to the nearby sensitive installations more and more. To protect the important loads and mitigate the impact of PQ disturbances on them, various compensating devices are installed. One of the most important control skills used in the compensating equipment at the load side is how fast they can recognize or detect the discontinuous abnormal PQ events from the normal voltage signal. This paper deals with two estimation methods for the fast detection and tracking of general PQ disturbances: Teager Energy Operator (TEO), which is a non-linear operator and used for a short time energy calculation, and Kalman Filter (KF), which is one of the most universally used estimation techniques. And it is also shown how to apply the TEO and the KF to detect the PQ disturbances such as voltage sag, swell, interruption, harmonics and voltage fluctuation.
PURPOSES : The goal of this study is to analyze the operational efficiencies of special roundabouts using simulated programs. METHODS : This study primarily focuses on comparing the delays and traffic flow disturbances occurring at special roundabouts. In this study, the operational efficiencies of 450 scenarios (5 roundabout types ${\times}$ traffic volumes ${\times}$ directional ratios ${\times}$ measures) are analyzed according to the corresponding delays and traffic flow disturbances using VISSIM and SSAM. RESULTS : The main results are as follows: 1) the Hamburger roundabouts are determined to yield the least common-type delays, 2) the amount of delays at Turbo and Flower roundabouts with respect to relatively increased right-turn-type delays, in addition to the amount of delays at the Left-turn slip-lane roundabout with respect to relatively increased left-turn-type delays, are found to be reduced as compared to the common-type delays. Lastly, common- and increased right-turn-type traffic flow disturbances at the Turbo roundabout and increased left-turn-type traffic flow disturbances at the Left-turn slip-lane roundabout are determined to be the most infrequent. CONCLUSIONS : This study comparatively analyzes five roundabout types: standard, Flower, Turbo, Hamburger, and Left-turn slip-lane. The effectiveness of roundabouts can increase according to given traffic volume, directional ratio, and measure of effectiveness.

A simple RMRAC (Robust Model Reference Adaptive Control) scheme for the PMSM (Permanent Magnent Synchronous Motor) is proposed in the synchronous frame. A current control of PMSM is the most inner loop of electro-mechanical driving systems and it requires a fast and simple control law to play a foundation role in the control hierarchy. In the proposed synchronous current model, the input signal is composed of a calculated voltage by proposed adaptive laws and real system disturbance. The gains of feed-forward and feedback controllers are estimated by the proposed modified Gradient method respectively, where the system disturbances are assumed as filtered current tracking errors. After the estimation of the system disturbances from the tracking errors, the corresponding voltage is fed forward to control input voltage to compensate for the disturbances. The proposed method is robust against high frequency disturbance and has a fast dynamic response. It also shows a good real-time performance due to it's simplicity of control structure. Through the simulations and real experiments, efficiency of the proposed method is verified.
The sensitivity of the final filament to the ongoing sinusoidal disturbances has been Investigated in the viscoelastic spinning using frequency response method. Amplification ratios or gains of the spinline cross-sectional area at the take-up to any disturbances show resonant peaks along the frequency regime, where the frequencies at theme points directly correspond to the imaginary parts of the successive leading eigenvalues from the linear stability analysis. As shown in Jung et al. (1999) and Lee et al (2001), the sensitivity results on the effect of various process conditions such as spinline cooling and fluid viscoelasticity, obtained by dynamic transient simulation have been corroborated in this study. That is, increasing spinline cooling makes the system less sensitive to disturbances, thus stabilizes the spinning. Also, an increasing viscoelasticity for extension-thickening fluids decreases the sensitivity of the spinning. i.e., stabilizing the system, where, as it increases the sensitivity of the spinning of extension-thinning fluids. Furthermore, it has been found in the present study that the inertia force as one of secondary forces causes the system to be more stabile or less sensitive to process disturbances.
